Youtube app to play in background

Mods I know youre kinda sticklers for youtube T&Cs so if this is a grey or black area then please delete, no explanation necessary but does anyone know of a youtube client that will continue to play audio in the background? I've tried a couple of the well known ones and they don't work on my phone (A0001)

YouTube only disallows downloading content.

I use this app. It allows playback with screen off. I don't remember if it needs root or not. It also uses a black theme.

Aye it has to be rooted to uninstall the stock youtube app so I'll try it on my tab

Bad luck then buddy. It runs fine on my HTC one m8 with Android Revolution ROM but I haven't tried it on any of my other devices. Maybe you can contact the developer?

Offline and background playing/listening are both features that you can get with a Youtube Music Key / Play Music All Access subscription - no sketchy third-party app needed.

(Granted, I know that option isn't necessarily available in all regions, but it works fantastically if you can get it.)

Unfortunately that's something I can afford right now mate. Think I signed up for a trial of the youtube music service lastnight. Haven't got the email yet....
