Youtube app: uploads only

Recently I subscribed to a few new people on YouTube and when I did that all their activity like their comments or likes showed up on my YouTube app with other videos I am subscribed to. I know that you can go to YouTube's desktop site to only see uploads from your subscriptions but if I check that box on the desktop site and go back to my phone the app is still showing all activity from the new people I have subscribed to. I have closed the app, cleared data and cache on the app with no luck. Does the app just new time to catch up with the change I made on the desktop site and will remove all activity for my new subscriptions later when YouTube updates or is this just something I have to deal with on the app?

If you have experience with this issue is appreciate your help!

This is only on app version 4.0.23

Version 3.5.5 gives me the option to choose uploads only on the app.

Since I upgraded to the latest YouTube, the tablet version no longer prompts to pick Uploads Only or All Activity when you click Subscribe and I can't see a way to select either after you have subscribed, but when I installed the same version on my Desire, there is an option that allows you to select between the two; it's either in the popup menu before you get into Settings or it's in Settings. I can't check, because I uninstalled this update.
