Youtube like application, to play videos from SD Card.

Hello,

I have a situation, where my 2 year old, loves watching YouTube Videos. At home it's no problem, because we have WiFi. On the road though, she uses all our data and we struggle to meet data usage at the end. We have a plan of 10 GB with Verizon, but that is not enough.

At first I wanted to create a network in the car to share videos on her phone with WiFi connection. Then I though, why not install a 32 GB SD card and put lots of YouTube videos she likes on it?

My Question would be, is there an app, that looks just like YouTube, that will play videos from the SD card. Even a similar App, that I could probably change the Icon to look like YouTube.

The thing is that she remembers the Icon for YouTube, and when trying to have her use another app, she just ignores it. LOL..

I have found YouTube API app, though not sure if that would play videos on the SD card.

Any help is appreciated or if you could point me in the right direction.

Check the youtube app you have as some (many??) videos are available for offline viewing. You could download a bunch of videos on WiFi and she could use the app she is used to.

Finally, alternative methods of watching youtube videos offline outside of the youtube app is both a violation of YouTube's TOS and most likely copyright infringement. We won't allow discussion of such alternatives here at AF. We will gladly offer ideas on how you can accomplish the same result through legitimate means. I'll be honest that my son, now 7, has been using android since he was two and I can guarantee he adapts to new apps faster than I do and I'm sure your daughter will too.;)

Unforgiven, yes true, I do not want to break any laws, as YouTube Videos are copyrighted.

I was looking into the offline mode, but seems, that every video she likes, does not have the offline mode. Can you point me in the right direction as to how or where this offline would be?

Also, what are other alternate apps, your son uses?

What videos are you looking for? Most kids stuff is available for free or cheap, especially Nick Jr and Disney Jr stuff. Also, PBS has a lot available too. I'd have to look at offline for those specifically, but I know my son was easily able to use their web pages and their Android apps, and they were pretty ~ahem~ primitive five years ago when he was two.

She watches a lot of "egg surprise" videos, and "play-doh suprise eggs, ChuChu Tv Kids", some Disney JR, and Baby Big Mouth.

I do have Videos on .MP4 for her already, so what other apps have the same playlist function as YouTube? I'll probably have to make her use an alt, app for on the road.

I went to this site, see the download button on the video on the site, but not on my YouTube App. Do I need a older version?

I even loaded the same video, they show.

That link is for India, not where you are. Different regions have different restrictions. I'd hunt out those publishers sites for apps and offline viewing capabilities. Like I said before, I'm sure your daughter is more equipped to learn a new app than you are. I'm unfortunatetly going to be sporadic for the next few weeks, so I'm going to leave you in the capable hands of the other members for specific suggestions.
