Help Youtube "quality" settings

funkylogik

share the love peeps ;)
What's the difference between setting them to highest available or setting to "auto"?
Like does auto set them automatically to the resolution output of the input device the display/screen it's being viewed on?
Just wondered.
Cheers :thumbsupdroid:

Mine was set to 480p on the first video I tried. I'm testing out this Auto thing myself now. what I'm seeing since trying 3 different videos is that the Video quality adjusted for each one with no input on my part. They all looked good to me. I did check auto after the first video ran,.For the 4th on I paused it then checked 1080p but while it was playing I checked the quality setting again and it went back to 480p. It looks like video quality settings are determined more by the video uploaded than by user preferences. Which is a good thing I think.

On my 1080p phone it does stick to 1080 when that option is available. On my 720p tv stick (and tv) I'm never given the 1080 option so I don't know man..
