Root Z1 Rooting

Hello, everyone!

Did any of you here gents and ladies, root their Z1, and if the answer is yes, by which method, and secondly, is it safe?

I'd like to root my phone just to be able to increase my headphones' volume in Walkman app (or if anyone's got a better way to do that, please let me know).

I have to mention that my Z1 is on 4.3 now, build 14.2.A0.290.

Thank you all!

Moved to the All Things Root Section! :)

I've rooted mine, your version is unrootable unfortunately, you have to downgrade via flasthool to .534, root using Kingo, make SuperUser a system app, then accept the OTA's to whatever version you're on now.

I used Kingo to root mine, there was a little concern by some of the devs about the information the kingo app and PC suite sent to IP addresses in China and the app was banned on xda, but the ban was lifted yesterday and it was declared safe.

Is your bootloader unlockable? Do you know how to check?

Thanks for moving my post, and I apologize I posted in the wrong section.

I am afraid I don't have the clearest idea how to check if my bootloader is unlockable, but I thought I'd need it to unlock if I wanted to use a custom ROM only?

Yeah, the unlocked bootloader is needed for custom ROMs etc, but it can make certain root stuff easier too.

You would be fine with just root, but as I say, you'd need to downgrade via Flashtool. It's very easy to do. I'll dig out a guide once I get to my PC if you like?

No need to apologise either, the root section for the Z1 is pretty quiet, so it's easy to miss :p

I am in Italy now, Vodafone Italy, but the phone was bought unlocked from a Vodafone Romania store.

And thanks for the guide, I will give you a shout in case I get into trouble, mate.
