Root (Z3 with Root) What is best option to choose?

Im still on my origional Z3 (out of the box software) which I rooted with towelroot a while back....


Still have root, but I've NEVER updated anything but PRL and Profile...

So what's the BEST thing I can do now? I'm already debloated.

I want the least amount of junk on my phone that I don't put there, I want the best service and speeds from data to processor, the works.

So what's good these days? Custom ROM? Stock z5? I want to keep root obviously... What's everyone's opinions and can you point me in the right direction?
 
zv5 debloated is your best bet at the moment. CM11 and CM12 are coming along nicely but they still have their quirks. If you want it to "just work" then stick with stock until you hear otherwise. Also not trying to toot my own horn, but since im the only game in town for a stock modded kernel go ahead and give Volt Uno kernel a try.
 
If you have stock recovery, I would let it OTA update to zv5, then reroot with one of the new methods and redebloat if necessary. Otherwise, install one of the zv5 ROMs.
 
I never made a stock recovery or anything yet.... So i assume that i dont. lol I would prefer not to loose all my stuff (like a factory reset) But if i have to, i have to...

Are the new root methods 100% and working and for sure?

Ill try to figure out how to make a stock recovery, but then i guess ill look into doing ROM's too...

You don't make stock recovery. It's what the phone comes with. That's why it's stock. If you never installed CWM or TWRP, you have stock recovery.

If you don't want to lose your stuff, then let the phone install its own updates and reroot. Just use the firmware update in settings. There will be 2 updates you'll need to install. The new methods would not be listed if they didn't work. I've used all the methods listed personally. DP Tools is the simplest option.
 
My phone is stuck on z3 it says no updates available for software or firmware? I don't know to do besides just a clean wipe and start fresh with this phone.... If my browser could keep everything saved pretty much, I can handle a fresh new boot.

I tested DP and "rooted" my already "rooted" phone. Just see if it would work.. (I have problems with my pc sometimes connecting to things correctly)

So maybe since I know all this I'll just play around with some options...

Weird, unless you uninstalled something it needs to update. You may have to wipe.
 
I fresh installed. Used ALL my data to download z4 and twrp stopped it anx i dont know what happened. So i used es file to try and erase twrp. Now i gwipefind wifi to wipe again. And re download z4.... how do i fresh wipe and keep root and debloated i dont know lol
 
Sorry this keyboard is different and auto correct is against me so typos are everywhere.

But im gonna go to a wifi place. Factory reset again hoping twrp is GONE now. AND retry downloading z4 then z5 then root with tool... then debloat .

I just dont get how i reset... it erased everythirg like a factory reset.... but kept superuser and root... and when i hit to install z4 it loaded into twrp...
 
Where does the z4 update save when its downloaded?

If i were to jump to just a z5 rom do i need the radio and carrier fix as well?

If i need to download more ir. ather just wait unti im at a wifi place like moms house. But a while ago i downloaded the z5 rom and radio and carrier fix. Just didnt know what was what
