Zappos

How can a disabled app (Zappos) consume data? Whether I check manually or with a cache cleaning app Zappos always has a cache buildup.

Zappos is some online shopping thing. I would suggest that you uninstall it completely. Although you list Verizon Droids as your devices, did they come with Zappos as carrier partner/affiliate bloatware? Might not be possible to completely disable and even remove it, not without rooting. As this possibly something Verizon may have done, I wonder if it's completely disabled and might be still operating in the background consuming data. Although it's supposed to be disabled, it might still be tracking and monitoring you in order to give you "useful" shopping suggestions or whatever it does, maybe why it's apparently consuming data and showing cache build-up.

No, Zappos isn't included on Verizon devices...yet.

First, apps can only be disabled if they ship with the device, which is what mikedt was addressing. Second, were it actually disabled, you wouldn't be able to use it at all. So if you're able to use the app, orbit disabled. Third, apps will store information in cache as you use them. So if you're checking zappos, doing that will cause the cache to "grow" as it stores what you do for easy access later (at least as far as I understand it). Like mikedt suggested, uninstall it if you're really concerned about it.

Thanks to all. Zappos using a small amount of data is not an issue. It is the only disabled app that uses data, as best that I can tell. And yes it is bloatware that comes pre-installed on my Verizon Motorola Droid Razr Maxx HD. The issue is not a big deal. I was just curious. Again thanks to all.

Whoa, they're including that now? o.O I had no idea. OK, then I need more info. What steps did you take to disabled it? Also, what data is it using, as I'm a bit confused. Are you talking it pinging something via your cellular connection to the internet, or storage space on your device?

I just uninstalled the updates, replaced with factory version and disabled. In its disabled state it appears to use data and build up cache. When I clear both the usage is back again.??

Frankly, I'm stumped. You clearly have it disabled properly, giving your screenshot. I am genuinely at a loss to explain why it is able to be force stopped and is showing cache.

I will definitely be watching this thread to see if anyone has an answer.

It doesn't appear that Zappos is consuming data in its disabled state. So I'm not going to pay anymore attention to it. Thanks.
