Root ZR3D 4.3GT Sprint GB ROM on Evo V?

Apparently, my very first post can't include any links, so I guess I have to introduce myself first. Hello, everyone. I'm new to both this forum, as well as dealing with HTC devices (aside from the Tilt, anyone remember that one?). Most of my experience is with a Samsung Infuse 4G, which was fairly user friendly. I've spent the past few days on XDA, and managed to fumble my way through getting HTCdev unlocked, S-off with Hboot 1.57.5757, and running BluROM ICS. I'm using 4ext recovery, if that matters.

I simply never learned to like Android version 4.x, so I'd like to flash a GB ROM on my new Evo V. This may be a more friendly venue in which to ask stupid questions, so here I am.

What I'm hoping to accomplish:
- I want to downgrade Hboot to Jbear's 1.50.5050 so I can boot a GB ROM, but I've never downgraded Hboot and would like a bit of advice. Is there any special process I need to go through? I'm hoping I don't have to do that wire trick all over again.

- I want to flash THIS ROM, which is made for Sprint's version of our device, and have everything working. Is that possible? I suppose I could live without MMS, if I have to, but I'd prefer a fully functional OS. Is it simply a matter of changing APN settings, or is there more to it?

hboot downgrades are simple...
1. find the link to your desired hboot...
2. download it and rename it to PG86IMG.zip
3. Put it on the root of your sdcard... so not in a folder...
4. reboot into bootloader...
5. bootloader should recognize the pg86img file on your sdcard and will ask for confirmation to flash it..
6. confirm and your phone will do its thing...
7. once done, it will reboot and you will be good to go...

as for the gb rom... bieng a sprint rom, mms will prob not work but everything else should be fine... just flash through recovery as you would normally...

edit: hboot can be found here.... just make sure to use the one under Evo 3d cdma... and use the sprint gb one since you are planning on flashing a gb rom...

Thanks for the help so far.

As soon as I boot into fastboot, it seems to automatically try to flash it. But it gives me the following message: "CID incorrect!! Update Fail!". And now I suddenly seem to be stuck at the splash (boot animation) screen when I try to boot into the OS. Any ideas?

ok.. try flashing the file from here instead...

and make sure to remove the old one....

edit: if you are having trouble getting out of the bootloop...
use adb...
adb reboot bootloader <---will get you into bootloader
adb reboot recovery <---- will get you into recovery
adb reboot <----- will just reboot

I managed to figure out a long workaround to get out of it. Mounted the SD card in my other phone and deleted the pg86img.zip file. I'm guessing that my boot partition may have somehow become corrupted when fastboot tried to flash Hboot. Is that a possibility? Since this isn't yet my primary phone, it wasn't a big deal to just completely wipe everything and reinstall the ROM and few apps I had.

I actually just found that thread with the modified Hboot versions. This time around, I decided to take my time and not noob it up. I did a full backup before flashing, but all went according to plan, with the modified Hboot from that link. Thanks, again, for your help.
