I've had my Merit for a couple of weeks now, and very recently I started having connectivity issues. Wouldn't be such a big deal, but at present I have no actual service through my provider and have been using it solely through wifi.
I noticed it first today while at the local Community College. I was connected to their public network, and every time I would refresh Facebook or Pinger I would get an error regarding a lack of internet connection. I thought nothing of it, figuring it was just a relatively unstable connection.. being that it's public at a CC, I figured traffic was very heavy.
However it seems to have followed me home. Every 3-5 minutes, the Wifi connection symbol on the status bar goes white.. The signal strength doesnt typically drop, but it turns from green to white for a matter of 5-10 seconds-- just long enough to be irritating and interrupt certain processes/applications.
I have tried disabling the wifi, turning it back on.. to no avail. I have gone as far as a factory settings reboot, with no luck. I have googled the issue and cannot find anything particularly helpful, and after browsing through all three pages of the Avail/Merit forum, I've found no threads regarding a similar issue.
I do not wish to go through the trouble of setting up a static IP, though if anyone is insistent upon this being helpful, I will give it a shot. The reason I am resistant to this.. is it is not an isolated incident, it seems to happen everywhere (Though I've only used it on 2 wireless networks.. I will be trying it on a third tomorrow, and if it persists I might just flip )
I guess I'm wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue, or if there might be a potential fix to this.. My gut is telling me it's probably a defect within the phone itself. In that case I will simply take it back to the point of purchase and request an exchange. But I am hoping it does not come to that.
Any insight provided would be greatly appreciated!
