Root ZTE N9810 Virgin Mobile Root?

Hi. I'm new here.

I have a ZTE N9810 Virgin Mobile (Supreme). It has the 4.1.2 jellybean.

I'd like to root this phone but I be darn if it's not been a night of frustration that would have been better spent banging my head aggressively into a brick wall!!

Searching the internet is alot like diving into a dumpster. You will get alot of filth & waste alot of time before you hit paydirt. I have not hit yet. This is why I signed up here. I have gotten more real info from forums than anything else.

I don't want to follow any links that lead to a program that is shady & only wants to let me know it will be $19.95 after I download it. I don't trust anyone who does business like that. Even if it works, I will not give cash to a shady business model. I'm ranting and so PISSED OFF! sorry.

Can someone with this phone give me "just the facts" about how to do this? I'll be very thankful.

If it works & I'm able then I will try to make a very simple "how to" to post here.

I recommend Framaroot.apk's (Gandalf exploit most likely for our ZTE devices).. They're almost flawless. I'd start with v1.4.1 and work your way up. Here's the link for the mentioned v1.4.1 :

Thanks. I downloaded the v1.4.1.apk on my computer. So now I need to move it to my phone but not sure if it matters where. Once it's on my phone I just open it right?

Correct. Once open it'll give up to 3 options with names related to The Lord of the Rings characters. Gandalf usually works with our ZTE's. Even if Root is successful, reboot & run again (just to be sure). It will either work or it won't, no chance of brick involved.

OK. "Framaroot-1.4.1.apk" in on my phone. It's asking for the options of "install Superuser" or "SuperSU". Can you tell me what that is about before I move on? I see the "Gandalf" but will wait till I hear from you. Thanks alot for your help!

SuperSu & SuperUser control Root access and giving you the choice of whichever of the two you prefer to use. My opinion? Go with SuperSu for ZTE - fewer issues.

I can concur SuperSU is always the way to go. I dont believe SuperUser has been updated in quite some time. I didnt flash the SU Zip the first time I ran Carbon ROM for my LG F6 and had many issues. So ya always, always, always use superSU for root right privaledge granting ALWAYS!...... Wait did I mention (ALWAYS!!!!!)

Well I've tried "Framaroot-1.4.1.apk" in every combination the app had but doesn't work on my phone. It comes back instantly with a "sorry failed" message. It seems to instantly know it won't work on my phone so it doesn't even try. I do have the ZTE N9810 Virgin Mobile (Supreme) so I have know idea why it won't work on mine.

Is there a 2nd best app to try?

its temp root but easy to reroot afte you turn youre phone on. try kingroot it sticks after on off phone

Tell ya what: if there's a custom recovery, make a nandroid backup and give me the boot.img, recovery.img, and system.EXT4.tar.a or win (TWRP) and I'll try to make root with SuperSu permanent.
