ok first of all i use iroot.apk & press root & wait it out, should look like pic i added. second i open & run z4Rooot 1.3.0 & select tempoary root & wait about 10 min for Z4Root to re-open & say your device is temp-rooted, then i use Zues to finish the job ! The Andro Platinum Utilities are a good means of flashing a custom recovery when we find one. This root is still finicky so any help felas would be great.

Hey JaayDogg! Wow! You aren't playing around! Thank you for this. Is this usable on a heart-bleed fixed (updated) phone? and is there anything that we must be looking out for as far as to avoid bricking the phone, like make sure we don't select this or that? Will this remain a temp root or will the last step (Zues) make it a perm. root? Looking forward to testing, Thanks again.

Some of the links seem to be dead, any info?

nm, duh, sorry! Found. Will be testing as soon as I get the heart-bleed question confirmed. Thanks!

Many thanks as well! This is looking like will get root this year. I have same concerns as krusifyd. Even with a temp root, you could still remove some of the ZTE or Google Apps that aren't needed right?

Hey jaaydogg any thoughts on this?...

I don't think any root method already being used will root this phone. I tried them all in the time I've been keeping up with this thread, including Iroot, Saferoot and Z4 Root. None of them work or they don't work after the Heartbleed fix has been applied. I've tried every version of Vroot or Iroot as they call it now since it was 1.6 and its never worked. I tried the PC method and the apk method. It don't work on this phone. Also the installer will but malware and spyware on your PC so be aware and prepared if you use it. I believe that Stayboogie is right in his approach. Its going to take someone who can take the OS apart piece by piece and figure out how ZTE managed to write protect or ghost the system partition to win this battle. Still, I wish JaayDogg success in his efforts.

FYI folks - stayboogy contacted me via email a couple days ago. He was gonna walk me through the process he thinks will get root.

Unfortunately, the very first thing he needs is the system image, and he wanted me to get it by using Cydia Impactor. That tool does not run on my linux machine; I get a segv. I noticed that tool hasn't been updated in a couple years, so my shared libraries are likely out of sync with what it expects.

Stayboogy says the windows version of Impactor will not work, so at this point, we are stuck. If anybody has Impactor running on a linux machine and has a Valet without the heartbleed fix, please contact stayboogy.

The windows version of cydia impactor works fine for me; i just tested and and actually flashed a new boot splash image sucessfully on my updated valet.

Stayboogy said he could never get the telnet functionality to work on windows, which is what is needed for his purposes.

I haven't tried it myself.

On my windows pc I connected to the root telnet session using the valet as its own client via adb using this command 'adb shell busybox telnet localhost 22' since the valet has busybox installed by default. Otherwise, the windows telnet feature works fine for connecting to my valet. In the control panel under programs just enable the telnet client feature, and it works almost identically as it does in linux.

Since stayboogie has not been able to get root, has anyone tried jaay dogg's method? Have not heard him chime in for quite some time and wanted to see if he made any other progress.

Haven't tried yet but I got temp root with this. Hope that helps.
Nope, tried before and get the rw error copying su to xbin. Tried again since I did the heartbleed fix, and still no go. Well I did get supersu to work once, but after installing some root apps I could never get it to work again.
