Root zte warp 4g lte otg?

got an OTG cable for my phone today but doesnt seem to be doing anything. i installed some otg checker apps and ran them they say usb host is supported on the phone and that the otg cable is detected when i plug it in but its not detecting whats on the other side of the otg cable (different usb drives) anyone have any ideas?
 
OTG isn't enabled by default, and I'm having a hell of a time getting it working. All I've been able to get working is the phone will recognize the otg cable, but it wont recognize devices plugged into the cable. And yes, I tried externally powering them. :)

I'll post updates here and there if I get it working.
 
i havnt done anything extremely special to the phone just have philz recovery and the debloated deodexed with root rom and the google now launcher and just used an app that told me what was detected as they were plugged in and it detected the otg usb host capability automatically and detected the otg cable connection when i plugged it in without doing anything extra or special its just not recognizing anything past that point as to whats plugged into the other side of the cable this is the app i was using not sure it will help tho lol https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homesoft.otgtroubshooter&hl=en since we're both stuck in the same boat at this point
