ZV_05 update with no service

Turned on my backup Volt today and the ZV05 update downloaded through WiFi with no service on the phone. This is great news for peeps like me who are keeping this as a backup in case I lose or break my Tmobile iPhone5. Not sure yet but I hope the bad autofocus is fixed. One of the problems I had with the phone was taking a weekly pic of my schedule at work in a not so well lit office. My iPhone always takes clear pictures but this unit only took great pictures in direct sunlight...

I didn't think you would get updates without service. Figured all the updates would hit once it was activated.

Nope. I have a Virgin Mobile phone that has never been activated, and it still pulls updates via wifi.

I just wanted to clarify that even though I had no service that the update was still pushed. In another thread somewhere I was told that I would never get one without service. The phone works smooth and the camera seems better and it taking clear pictures.
