the Last of US TV show (all things TLOU)

ok so looks like HBO has another winner on their hands. the Last of US is just 2 episodes in and i must say that i am completely enjoying it.

have any of you played the game yet? i loved the first two episodes that i just bought the game and i just started playing the game.

i think this is the best adaption from game to film.

has anybody else watched the first two episodes and also played the game? what are your thoughts so far?

Heartbroken

My precious Joy Noelle went to Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She was in her favorite place, on my chest; I held her close, stroked her sweet little face, and I told her a million times how much I love her, and what a joy she's been and how I couldn't imagine the past 18+ years if she hadn't been a part of them. She's at my vet's office now (he met my helper there this morning) so she can be cremated.

I don't have words to express how deep this hurt is. May write more later.

Has anyone successfully activated an eSIM?

Ok, I have two phones. Both are personal phones. I pay for them out of my own finances. But, I consider one my personal phone and one for business. My personal phone is an AT&T Samsung S22. My business phone is a Verizon S20 FE phone. I have the two phones and I made sure that one was through AT&T and one through Verizon because I work from home. I am the breadwinner of this family. We don't have any high speed internet even avaialble to the house outside of 4g.

I've always said I need two ways to get online. If one fails, I always need a backup. Having unreliable internet is like having a job with an unreliable car. After so long of you not showing up because your car breaks down, they'll find someone else with a reliable car.

About 8 months ago, we moved from a house that had fiber to this house. We took a huge gamble. We needed a bigger house. We wanted land. So, I decided 4g would be good enough and, for the most part it has. I have a pretty nice 4g setup at home. I put a 4g antenna on a tv antenna pole above the roofline pointed at a local cell tower and ran that into the house. my wife is a cop so we get firstnet unlimited hotspot with no data caps at all. On the same pole, I also installed a 4G repeater to reamplify at&t cell signal in the house. So, it works out pretty well.

We use at&t 4g as our primary 4g connection because AT&T in our area works significantly better than verizon. But, verizon does work... just slower and less signal at our house. Driving around, verizon has a ton of dead spots.

But there has been multiple times where AT&T 4G was down in the area. One of the last times it went down, I jumped in my car and went to a verizon store and got a verizon phone so I had a second option when at&t was down. I've needed it a few times now.

Ok, for other reasons I don't want to go into on this thread, I cannot leave an unattended smart device in our house. My kids have done some really bad things. I have the smart devices under control in the house as long as I always carry this verizon phone on my person at all times. But, the phone is constantly falling out of my pocket. It's so annoying to carry two phones.

A few weeks ago, I called verizon and asked them how I can convert my verizon sim to an esim. I spent hours on the phone. transfer after transfer, no one could understand what I wanted. They kept wanting to port the number from verizon to at&t as a second line. I said to them... no. I don't want that. I'm told my samsung s22 ultra is not carrier specific. I want, when I make a call on the at&t phone that it uses at&t and the hotspot is at&t. But, if at&t is down, I want to switch to the esim and then the same phone I was just using with at&t becomes a verizon phone and makes calls using verizon towers and the hotspot is using verizon towers. So, if an at&t outage is happening, I'm not dead in the water. They just couldn't understand it. I was transferred and transferred... hungup on because they didn't know how to transfer... calling back transferred again. I spent like 5 hours on the phone. I finally talked to one person. It seemed like she knew what I was wanting.

When I go on the S22 phone and start the process of adding an esim, it wants me to scan a QR code. Even though the lady on the phone seemed to understand what I was wanting, she didn't know how to generate the QR code that my phone was wanting. After another hour or so working with her, I gave up.

But, I really would like to do this. Has anyone successfully used a SIM and eSIM on the same phone using two different carriers?

WHY?!?

It seems impossible.

I cannot connect the internet to anything but my phone.

I have not watched anything on a real television in years, other than an occasional DVD somewhere where someone still has one of those.

I recently got internet hooked up at my mother's house, and it is great.
Unfortunately, they offered some stupid Google TV crap that wants massive permissions and other grief to connect her phone to the TV.

Years ago I gave up trying to cast anything from my phones to any television, quickly realizing that I can just watch whatever I want on said phones already- thereby eliminating the endless headache, aggrevation, and inevitable disappointment when the connection fails.

She has a supposedly 'smart' TV, and I did get it connection the wi-fi, but it is so old (3+ years) that none of the apps will work without updating them, and the stupid 'smart' TV will not update any of them.

Endless hours of QR codes, entering the codes manually, downloading and installing more damn Google apps, and more have all been nothing but grief and problems.

Why in the hell can there not just be a way to cast directly from a device to another via a shared wi-fi connection?

Google has done everything possible to prevent this, that used to be both possible and simple!

Now I am pissed off once again (thanks a lot, Google, once again) and fighting with my mother.

I hate all of this crap.
Again and again Google has been more useless than a railroad spike in the center of a chair seat with the pointy end up.

Intermittent phone signal

My S5 has developed an internet connectivity and phone signal issue. I managed to fix the internet connection issue (knock on wood) by installing a "booster" app. However, my phone signal still fades in and out. One minute I'll have sufficient signal to make a call or send a text, and then a few minutes later I will have no signal at all (zero bars.) It does not matter where I am at. Whether I'm at home, or work, or driving, my phone signal is always intermittent.

Does anyone have suggestions on how I might be able to fix this?

Apps usbManager.getDeviceList() returns empty list after boot

I'm developing small android app using android studio and java. App have to write to serial port of connected Arduino. There is no issues with connection to device once otg cable plugged, but if I reboot the phone while cable is plugged app unable to establish connection. It turned that usbManager.getDeviceList() returns empty HashMap<String, UsbDevice>. If I re-plug cable app able to communicate.

My device is Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 it is unlocked and rooted. I'm attaching device information I've collected during my research.

This app is not gonna be published and going to run on this particular phone only.

6.0 to 7.0 worth keeping s6?

Would the s6 be any better of a phone updated to 7.0 or better off buying a newer android phone? I'm sure better off new if so what do you all recommend? My first android was the droid x, I've had s3 which I liked a lot better than the s6. I'll more than likely turn my s6 into a straight talk after I get WiFi tomorrow what phones do they have that uses Verizon towers? I think they have about the best service where I live or better off and or cheaper to stay with Verizon and just go prepaid?

How to stop from announcing time of day

I have the assistant turned off [I think] I don't use voice activation for anything. Somehow, occasionally, the device will decide to announce the time of day.
I use this device almost exclusively to play music for Zumba classes. Using the Samsung Music app.
It only happens when I have another instructor look through the playlist, pick a song, and start it - so I don't see if she may accidentally press one of the buttons or swipe something to trigger it. It never happens anywhere else.

I can't seem to find a setting to stop / disable this function, or even know what it might be called.

Any ideas?

Suggestions on a Windows USB login Key

I frequently have to log into multiple laptops either using my regular AD acct or my Administrator account and both passwords are long and the Administrator password changes every 30 days.

I was hoping someone could suggest a USB key that I could use to enter these credentials, change change when needed and use it to enter either my regular or Administrator credentials instead of me needing to type them in myself.

I don't need mult factor authentication, just the username and password for either my regular AD account or my Administrator account.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
