Could a dirty SIM card cause problem to the smartphone

I, very foolishly, inserted an old and dirty SIM card into my new smartphone that has been used for less a week. I even found that there was something green (like oxidation) on the surface of the SIM card.
I'd like to take this chance to ask if the dust, dirt or debris from the surface of a SIM card could cause problem to the delicate internal components of a smartphone or any other performance issues?

Completely Stuck in Android Upgrading loop

I was given an LG 7.0 tablet today, which I figured I could use at my live shows for credit card processing instead of handing ppl my phone.
I plugged it into the car charger & turned it on & set it in the passenger seat. I noticed it said something about Android, but was driving, so paid it no attention.
Got home & power was off. Ok, so car charger doesn't work. Plugged it in, turned it on & it showed 63%. Confused, but it's on. Did a factory reset. Deleted or disabled some ATT apps as I'm on Verizon & using this only on wifi. Turned mobile data off. Set up Google & Chrome, & let play store apps update. Restarted. So far, so good. Tried to download Square. Got a message it didn't install. Went to Play Store to try again, and instead of the "install" button, it had the "open" button, so I opened it. Slowwwww, but it loaded & opened. Closed it, closed Play. & grabbed icon from app page to put on the homepage, & tried to open....nothing. Deleted icon on home page, went to app page & it was gone, and also wasn't showing on settings/installed apps. It was still showing on the recent apps page though it wouldn't open again. Closed everything. Restarted. I then got the message as follows: Android is Upgrading... Optimizing app 1 of 1. This may take longer depending on apps. Please do not turn off the tablet until complete.

This is on a loop. It occasionally restarts itself and goes immediately back to this screen. I can not get into anything. I have tried the volume down/power suggestions, but it doesn't get far enough into boot to offer me the safe mode option. It just displays this. It's been hours.
Here's where I screwed up-
Everything I've read says it's a 3rd party app issue. Only d/l I did was Square. I looked up app specs and finally saw the issue....Square now requires Android 7 up. The LG is, according to the box, 5.02. It's never going to optimize 1) an app that's not there but probably listed in a cache somewhere, & 2 an app that won't work with this version.
So, without being able to use the power/volume down trick, nor get past the LG logo, what can I do? PLEASE someone take pity on me?

Help Focus mode - why do I still get notifications?

Hello all,

When I activate the concentration/focus mode on my One Plus 9 Pro, it still shows the icons of the apps on the lock screen.

For example, when I get a Whatsapp the icon is visible on the lock screen. The content is not displayed (like a classic notification) but I find it distracting anyway.

How can I set the concentration mode so that really no notifications or icons are shown at all?

Thanks in advance and best regards

Tobias

N10 emergency

I don't know how it happened, but my friend's phone is useless. It's not bricked, at least in the usual sense. Googoo's nasty "assistant" has somehow taken over and is demanding that he set up some kind of code to "defend" it. I tried rebooting and it's still there. This is about the last straw for him. He already hates it, but he can't afford another right now. What do we do?

Text Editor Scrolls to End of Document

I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 running Android 12. Settings > Software Update says my software is up to date.

When I open text documents from Dropbox (.txt documents) or Google Calendar, and make a change in the text, it scrolls to the end of the document. Very annoying. Makes the text editor borderline useless. I don't know exactly which text editor app is being called when I open text documents. I haven't found a way to change the default text editor.

What should I do? Thanks.

LastPass Data Breach

- SEE UPDATE -

This does not shake my faith in LastPass at all... if anything, it strengthens my trust in the password manager. First, LastPass isn't stupid enough to store password data on a shared, third-party server. That information would be superficial at best. A previous intrusion attempt only accessed a developer test platform. In both intrusions, no critical user data was breached. Users' many passwords, and other sensitive data in their "vault", are encrypted behind a single master password: and LastPass has taken great pains to ensure that no code exists which would allow anyone else to decrypt the vault. Until I learn otherwise, I will continue to be a strong advocate for LastPass.

Lastpass says hackers accessed customer data in new breach

UPDATE:

My faith was shattered after the revelation that the breach was far worse than LastPass had initially disclosed. I would not recommend LastPass as a password manager, no matter what remedies they take, due to their slow reaction to the breach, deceptive disclosures and lack of proactive measures.

Help Urgent please - modem init...

Hi,

I turned on my phone after having a nap and it didn't start up as it normally does. I was not watching the phone when I did this.

Firstly it did not vibrate like it usually does. When I looked to see what was going on there was a list of Chinese characters in green font.

I don't know if I clicked on one of the selections but the next thing it is just saying

modem init... (again in green.

I have tried holding the off button but the phone will not turn off.

I've tried holding down various combinations of Off and each of the other buttons (volume up volume down and the other one).

Thankfully I have access to the internet from my desktop computer.

Does anyone know what I need to do to fix this?

Thank you in advance.

Help Why is my battery dying so quickly all of a sudden?

I truly hope that someone can help me resolve this mystery.

I have a rooted Pixel 3XL running Android 10 and it works fine. For the past several years, I would charge the phone every other day. Since I do not use the phone that much, typically at the end of a day, the battery charge percentage would drop about 30% - so charging every other day worked just fine.

However, something recently happened that is making the charge percentage drop by more than 70% in a single day and my usage patterns have not changed. The only thing that comes to mind is that one of the apps I updated may be doing something different. The following apps were updated five days ago. Note that I have automatic updating disabled.
  • App Opps
  • c:geo
  • Dropbox
  • Duo Mobile
  • Firefox
  • GasBuddy
  • LinkedIn
  • Shizuku
  • Sticky Password
  • Textra
  • Voice Recorder
  • Yelp
When I want to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Usage, the only app that looks funny is Sticky Password. It indicates that it has used 10% of the battery (but does not show the amount of time the app was used) and I do not recall using it at all over the past few days.

The only thought that come to mind is to reinstall a slightly older version of Sticky Password. Not sure if this will do anything, but can you think of anything I could try?

Running out of space?

Have an LG phone...LML414DL... and I keep getting a message that it's running out of space. I run the Smart Cleaning app and it frees up some space but not for long. It shows that 9.64 GB storage and 0.93 GB of memory are in use... 864 MN free and 1.03 GB free respectively. When I go to Settings, Apps and chose Apps that I don't use like Docs, Meet, Music, Sheets and FM Radio and chose to "Disable" them, I get this message:

Delete data and disable app? If you disable a built-in app, other apps may misbehave. Your data will also be deleted. No or Yes

Since I don't use these app, should I disable them in spite of the warning? I don't understand. ???
