Voicemails from people we haven't called

Hi,

For the past few days, my wife has been getting voicemails from people who she hasn't called. In her call logs, we can see these numbers look as though they have been called from her phone but she has never made the calls herself. The service provider is sending out a new sim in the next couple of days but I highly doubt this will fix the problem.
Also, not sure if this is related, her phone will not let her change the default messaging app from 'voicemail'. Whenever we attempt to change this it will revert back to voicemail, this means she cannot send any messages. What is going on here? Is here number 'spoofed'? How can we force the phone messaging app to 'messages' from voicemail?

Cheers,

Thanks, Chredge.

Invoke app from lock screen

Hi!

So I've never tried anything regarding android development, but I was asked to create an simple app for my gf's summer camp. They basically want to somehow suddenly start a video on like 5 locked phones. (As if they got hacked in a movie and there was this threatening video message played simultaneously on all devices...). So I got android studio running, played with the controlls for a while and I think I got the part with the video activity running pretty well. But I now got stuck on trying to invoke this activity from locked screen. My idea is that there will be something running (service, I suppose) in the background.. waiting for signal (timer or something like periodic checking of some web server I could create). And when it's time comes, it will invoke the video activity from locked screen.

Could someone help me out and give me an idea, how can I accomplish that (mainly the locked screen invoke part)? Even terms and concepts to look for will be very much appriciated!!

Thank you guys in advance <3

Facebook app notification dots

Hi all,
So this has been annoying me for years… I had an S7 and wasn’t getting notification dots on the app icon, I tried so many fixes over the years and nothing worked. I was bought an iPhone XR for my birthday and I get the icon notifications, but I miss a few features that my Samsung had so bought a S10e and it doesn’t receive the Facebook app notifications! Is there anyone who can please help?

Help How To Silence Interrupting Notifications?

I'm looking for a way to silence notifications that sound off during playback of media such as music or videos. I don't want to put my phone in Vibrate Only mode, or Do Not Disturb mode, because I still want to hear important things like an incoming phone call ringtone.

Example: I'm playing music / watching a Youtube video and I get an email, or message, or any other kind of notification, and the music / video audio will dip in volume so the notification can be heard. Then playback resumes.

I really hope I am wrong, but I don't think this can be suppressed without installing a third-party app. I'm very surprised Android allows media playback to be interrupted like I've explained, or at least not give an option to silence the interruptions. I'm on Android 10, so maybe the newer versions can do it?

Reset Device with Google account sync

Hi Good people.

Apologies if this has been covered before as I am a pretty busy guy and haven't had a lot of time to troubleshoot this problem.

A friend of mines kid was gifted this second hand tablet to mess around with and unfortunately after resetting it to factory I realised it was locked to an unknown Google account (see attached image). After some research I haven't been able to figure out to bypass this or completely "root" the device in order for him to make use of it.

I realise there a various softwares to use to accomplish this but a lot of attempts later (and malware installed) I am still making no headway.

Would any kind soul care to point me in the right direction?

Happy Father's Day

Congrats to all the fathers out there. Our big day is here. :) I hope that you get to spend some time with family and or friends and celebrate the honor of being a father. I was fortunate to have four children of my own and to be considered a father figure to a few other fine people. I was also blessed to have had a very fine man as my father. A hard working honest and loving man that helped me survive growing up. :)

Need Clarification on Wi-Fi Settings

On my phone (LG K20 Plus) I have Settings -> Wi-Fi set to ON - the phone shows that it is indeed connected to my Wi-Fi. I expected that it would make/answer calls via W-Fi.
But when I go to Settings -> More -> Wi-Fi Calling it says Disabled. Then if I leave that unchanged but press it and go to Connection Preferences -> Wi-FI Preferred it says it's ON. Yet If I go to Settings -> Call it also says Wi-Fi Calling Disabled.

This is contradictory - can someone please clarify whether it is using or not using Wi-Fi for calls? And if it's not using Wi-Fi how do I make it use it?

Also - I just noticed that volte is set to ON. Does that affect the Wi-Fi usage?

Why is IPhone more secure than Android?

So, everything I read, iPhones are more secure than Android. I was reading why a few days ago and what I read is iPhones are closed source and androids are open source. Also, apple makes the hardware and software but android releases it to all the manufacturers and them customizing it weakens the security.

But looking at Windows vs Linux, Linux is open source and Windows is closed source. But Linux is significantly more secure than Windows. Bring open source isn't compromising Linux's security.

I have a google pixel so the os is written by the manufacturer just like an IPhone. I don't have it rooted. So, curious how the security compares.

Help Unauthorized Google Play charges...

Help me figure this out. My Discover card got dinged for three $5.00 charges from Google Play on June 6th. I disputed the charge(s) and Discover is investigating. Meanwhile, we get a new card, new number, spend 6 hours on the phone resetting all the auto-pays because 7 out of 8 of their websites are broken and won't let me add my new card info. Ugh!

I go into my Google account and see the only payment method on file is Paypal? Obviously, if I had incurred the charges, they'd have gone to PP. That being the case, how would Discover get dinged? Discover is working this, but not telling me squat. And Google denied my claim for reimbursement, so it's up to Discover now...

TIA!

partially corrupt file

Was just wondering about a corrupt file that I have on my phone. I took a video a few days ago which is 55min long and 4gb. I used a 3rd party app called cameraMX. The video saved to DCIM. But when I go to play it it is only twelve minutes long and can not play the full vid. Also, when I try to edit the video, it says the format is not supported. Is there any way to get the full 55min vid ? Thank you all for your help

Question

Why would my Android phone show up on my home network as two different devices. Using two different device names, IP addresses and Mac addresses? It's as if my one phone actually is two completely different phones sometimes it shows up as one and other time another?

Nokia X20 - HBO GO choppy video and audio

I purchased Nokia X20 and I have problem with HBO GO app. Video and audio is choppy. All other apps are ok - Netflix, Youtube etc. It's not related to internet connection because video is choppy also in offline mode. I also tried to reinstall app and make factory reset - without success. On my old Nokia 7.1 HBO GO works well. I tried to look at DRM settings via DRM Info and I am little bit confused about "Supported Hardware Decoder" compared with Nokia 7.1 - please see the attachment. Could it be the reason of my issue? Is it a bug? Is Nokia X20 capable to play HBO GO videos? I hope yes - for this money.

How can I make my android apps which I build using android studio to work properly.

Hello, i if this is the right place for this kind of question. If it is not the right place please point me into the right section.

I created a simple app using android studio to stream my audio/music from my website, but the problem is that it is playing/streaming very very slow, I know it is not a internet connection problem because it plays perfectly fine from the website. Can anyone tell me what can be the reason, is there something wrong in the code, but the app work without giving any error, it works but it is just very slow. I just started using android studio not so long ago so I am not an expert, Can someone tell me where or which part in the code to check, how can I find out the problem or are there any code optimization software. can anyone point me in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.
