Hi all,

I know my A5's actually a mobile phone, but unlocking it to make a call or send a message is less likely than unlocking to use the phone's other capabilities. So, when I do unlock, I have to cancel the dial screen. Is there a way to set the phone up so that when I unlock I get the Home screen?

New to this forum. Hi I have upgraded from a samsung galaxy Tab-E Android 4.4.4 to
Alba 10.1 Inch 32GB HD Android 10

First tearing hair moment was that My PC recognized it as a mobile phone but I couldent do anything. This was down to No data transfer option. Select file transfer worked but every time I pluged it in, I had to repeat the process.
I was told on some website to go to settings, Scroll down to about and tab 7 times to enter developer mode. I don't understand that bit.

Now I am facing icons that don't like each other. They have to be apart on my screen by nearly 2 inches apart. Flick up to reveals installed apps and I get 5 rows of only 4 icons.

On my old tablet go to emails. There I can add account after account switch between accounts and even combine them. Also can't get an AOL account but can get a googlemail account?

Any help on these issues please. This is a new tablet and I am trying to get to grips with a jump from Android 4.4 to 10 but this is driving me nutts.

PS. There is no Alba 10.1 in your list of tablets.

What is normal SIM toolkit memory level?

If you check memory level from settings---> programs--->SIM toolkit. I have memory 58Mb in 3 hours.

I think it is very high. What can cause this?

When I try to use Android Auto I get this annoying text window overlay saying the some functions are not available while the vehicle is in motion. This seems to impede most functionality. Can this be3 disabled? I'm on Android 11.

After checking around to make sure Samsung Galaxy S8 can be rooted on Pie, I bought a model SM-G950U phone, but discovered to my dismay that the bootloader on U.S. versions with Snapdragon processors is not unlockable (there is no "OEM unlocking" setting in Developer Options, and none of the tricks with changing the date or waiting 7 days for Prenormal RMM state to pass will work to make it show up). All the rooting instructions I've been able to find only work for international versions with Exynos processors, or require downgrading to Nougat.

Is there any solution available have model SM-G950U rooted and running Pie?

If not, would any of the international models that can be rooted on Pie (SM-G950F, SM-G950FD, SM-G950N) work with U.S. carriers without disadvantages in service? (I have AT&T and would prefer not to switch carriers unless I absolutely have to.)

I need a new phone and a wider selection would be best but I need to be able to turn on the flashlight very quickly.

Too quickly to use both hands or look at the screen. I barely have enough time to get it out of my pocket and shake it.

I'm not doing anything illegal or immoral lol it's just a safety thing but it's an essential safety thing.

Running Chrome on Android 11 (Samsung Note 20 Ultra). When I change the download location to SD card, it sucessfully downloads the file to the Download folder on the SD card and shows the message it completed at the bottom of chrome where you can click to open it.

HOWEVER, it always shows a 'download error' notification as if Chrome is still looking to Internal to verify the download completed even though it saved to the SD card. Seems like an obvious bug. I tried clearing cache and app data and restarting (a common suggestion for a variety of issues). But no effect.

It doesn't display the bogus download error when saving to internal.

Anyone else notice this or do very very few people even know you can change the download location in Chrome for Android let along actually changing it to SD Card?

Is the folder ..\Android\data\com.android.vending owned by Google Play Store? I have about 330 MB of data in here and I would like to know if there is a safe way to clean that out. Some of this is probably a history of purchases? How important is it to keep that information?

I have an older version of Android and I have used ES File Explorer on that for many years. Recently, I noticed that the search feature simply disappeared. If I choose Internal Storage and get a list of folders, the menu I can bring up has these options:

There is no Search, nor is there an icon for search anywhere to be found on any screen. Can someone help me understand what might have happened?

I understand ES File Explorer was removed from Play Store. Is this decision permanent? Is there any application that fully implements the feature set I could use as a replacement? This situation is made very frustrating by the fact that dozens of applications are using sleazy copies of the ES File Explorer logo and name, to deliberately confuse people into believing that they are the true ES File Explorer. Most of those applications are real garbage.

After I migrate my project to AndroidX, I am getting Compile errors; such as "Cannot resolve symbol".
These errors are shown not im my classes, but in "Activity.java" a.s.o.
May be some Jar-File is missing . Any idea? Please for help.

All of the data is being reset; how can I solve this issue?

I have a motor g7 power if that matters.

Needed to do a factory reset so I backed up my whole internal storage.

Now I need to get my alarms from before the reset back.

There were like 50 of them and I thought backing up all the internal storage meant I didn't have to write them all down.

I have Note 3 (originally USA), which I am interested in replacing with a Note 10+, but I have a few questions first.

I bought my Note 3 from a local fellow on Craigslist. At the time I had a T-Mobile phone, and the Note 3 he was selling was also with T-Mobile. Sitting in his living room we called T-Mobile to handle the swap. I asked the T-Mobile lady if his IMEI was clean, and she assured me that his phone was paid in full, so I gave the seller the cash. Four months later I discovered that the T-Mobile lady and the seller had both lied to me, when T-Mobile shut my phone off without even a warning. With help fom here I discovered a fellow who would replace the motherboard in my dead Note 3 with a replacement (from outside the USA), and in the process he agreed to root the phone and ship it back to me overnight. When I got the phone back a few days later it was working perfectly, and has continued to work for the past five+ years.

I've loved my Note 3, but a few weeks ago I cracked the screen, and 5G is all the rage these days, so maybe it's time to move on. But I don't really want to give up having a phone that is rooted. One of the first things I did when I got my Note 3 back from the guy who installed anew motherboard was to uninstall the texting apps. What? I don't do texts? How can that be? Well, I have no young friends who believe that the purpose of being alive is to do texting and social media. The only text messages I ever got were robo-texts or advertising from T-Mobile. Worse, even with the phone volume on zero, every time I got a text message the phone would emit a loud beep, and it was impossible to turn the feature off. Bah.

I have never rooted a phone myself. I could probably do it, but it is a bit scary. However, while poking around the net I discovered this site:

Which gives me some options for removing Samsung bloatware without being root. All I really want to do is disable texting, so if I can do it without root, maybe I don't even need to root my new Note 10+. But if I do need to be root, are there people who would do it for me for a price?
