Apps PDF Printing not accepting orientation

I have a strange issue with trying to print to PDF or even to a wireless printer in that I cannot get the orientation to change to landscape. I use the following code to set landscape mode as the MediaSize.

PrintAttributes attrib = new PrintAttributes.Builder()
.setMinMargins(new PrintAttributes.Margins(0,0,0,0))
.setMediaSize(PrintAttributes.MediaSize.NA_LETTER.asLandscape())
.setColorMode(PrintAttributes.COLOR_MODE_COLOR)
.build();

printManager.print("Document", printAdapter, attrib);

If I breakpoint at the last time and check attrib, it is correct with landscape being passed into the print function.but when OnLayout is called after this, checking newAttributes passed into the function shows the orientation as portrait and not the select landscape. The only fix is to manually select this in the preview. Not ideal for the user to have to do this each time.

Now, here's the strange part. I have 2 systems with different LCD's. A 7 inch one with default resolution of 800x1280 in portrait mode timing but I change this to landscape when Android boots up. It is fixed in this landscape orientation. The second system is an 11.6" 1920x1080 with landscape mode timing. It too is fixed in this landscape mode and cannot rotate.

If I run the same application on the device with the 1920x1080 display, the printout preview is in landscape as expected but if I change the code to force portrait as a test, the preview remains in landscape mode and I have to manually select this to the correct orientation.

Printing without changing the orientation to the correct one causes the wrong orientation to be printed.

I've checked the source code for PrintDocumentAdapter and the setting for landscape should be working.

Why is the landscape/portrait mode not changing with the above code? All searches online point to this as the correct way to change the orientation but it just doesn't work. I need a solution as having the user change this each time is not the ideal way to do this.

Offline speech recognition

On my S10, there was an option to enable "Faster voice typing" in the GBoard which set GBoard to use the offline speech recognition by default. I liked this feature, because I found it to be much faster AND more accurate than the online mode.

On my S20, there is no such option, strangely. If I put the phone in airplane mode, it will automatically switch over to using the offline speech recognition library, but there doesn't appear to be a way to set it to this mode by default. Does anyone know of a way to accomplish this?

messenger sounds off?

HUAWEI Y6 (2017)

I had to reinstall Android on my phone, so after that some Apps didn't work anymore as they used to. Some I couldn't even use anymore, because they had newer version which doesn't anymore work on the old Android version which I have.

Most annoying has been Messenger (by FB)... I have effect sounds on, while I am sending a message, or receiving etc. I don't know how to remove those. Only way so far has been to take off the Ringtone sounds (mute), but that's not the ideal way, as after I cannot hear the phone calls - because often I just forget the put the sounds back on.

I removed the notification sounds already, so it's not about that. I don't know now how to fix this... so please, if you can help, please let me know. Thanks.

/// huawei support couldn't help; they just told to contact to Messenger/FB - but as everybody might already know, their support sucks harder than almost anything (=not answering EVER).

Help Phone keeps chiming -- don't know why

My new G20 chimes several times a day as if notifying me of something, but it does not tell me what. It's not a phone call. And I've turned off notifications on all apps. Sometimes it chimes at 3 in the morning so I'm trying to disable it.

I put the phone in "do not disturb" mode, but then it won't let me answer the phone. It sends all calls to voicemail. I want to answer my phone -- I just don't want to hear the apparently meaningless chimes. So activating the "do not disturb" mode is not the answer.

NFC is not activated. And nothing appears on the screen or the pop-down menus to tell me why the phone is chiming. I've searched online for answers for over an hour, and none of the answers have helped me. I called Sprint, my phone company, but they just told me to turn down the volume. That's not a good solution, because I want the volume up in case I get a call.

How can I stop the phone from chiming for no apparent reason?

I just upgraded from S8, which never pestered me with random chiming.

Trouble Unlocking Verizon LG G5 VS987

A recent "security" update left my Verizon LG G5 VS987 in an unworkable state. It no longer knows its IMEI number and thus cannot recognize the SIM card. I've recovered the IMEI from the inside back cover but can't figure out how to restore it. LG wants $40+ to fix it, which I'm not inclined to do since it was LG's unreliable update that messed up the phone in the first place. I decided to root it, since it is old and the warranty is long expired. So far I've done the following:
1. I've turned on Developer mode and USB debug mode but there is no OEM Unlock option as the instructions on You-tube say.
2. I looked on unlock site androidbiits.com. I don't mind paying them $11 for an unlock code (assuming they're legit) but I don't see US Verizon on the carrier list for ordering the code.
Am I out of luck? I love my LG but this was a reconditioned phone I bought for just $110. I'd rather buy something else than pay half of that amount to LG to fix it.
BTW I also have a T-Mobile LG G5 with a broken screen. I switched carriers when I ordered the replacement. I know these are pretty modular but I since that is a GSM phone I probably can't cobble together a working Verizon phone out of both of them, can I?

Does anyone know that this app is (triangle push notification icon)

Hey all,

My friend's husband sent her a screenshot and she noticed an icon for an app she's unfamiliar with. I tried to find an app on my own and came up short. If I had to guess, it looks like a push notification for a mobile game but I'm hoping to get a definite answer.

Does anyone know what icon this app is from?
