I recently came into possession of a ASUS Fonepad K004. It runs on Android 4.1.2. I intended to set it up for an older relative to use, but it doesn't have much functionality since the OS is so outdated. Most apps are no longer compatible.

I tried downloading older APKs for a few apps which were compatible with 4.1, but they only worked briefly before trying to force an update and locking me out. I imagine this is due to the online connection required (I tried installing YouTube, Duolingo etc) but I wondered if there was perhaps a workaround?

I was looking into installing a new OS onto the tablet that would allow me to use older versions of some apps and at least get a little functionality out of it, but it seems that most of the common ones (LineageOS being a good example) do not support the device.

Are there any other options for such an old device that could help restore some functionality and allow use of the aforementioned apps?

I just activated my Kyocera Duraforce Pro 2 this morning. I have found an issue I cant figure out. I have set up the security with a PIN and my fingerprint and each work fine. The problem is when the power button is .
pressed this screen comes up. You slide up to go to enter the PIN, left to camera, and right to Google assistant. Why does a "locked" phone allow anyone not authorized to use it take photos, or access Google assistant? How can I lock this up too.....turn it off....etc? In my mind randoms or anyone who may pick up the phone should NOT be able to take photos or talk to assistant.

I'm trying to locate the Bluetooth module on my all-in-one pc motherboard, after dropping and damaging it yeas ago, my onboard Bluetooth has never worked since. Oops. Device manager no longer listed any Bluetooth connectivity, and have had to use external BT Dongle instead.

I'm now trying to locate it and having trouble doing so, and wondered if anyone owning this Lenovo B320 all-in-one pc can help.

Trying to ascertain if I've dislocated a connector or something else. So far having trouble opening the damn thing. It's built too securely for my liking.

Just require knowledge of where it's located inside the pc.

It asks for additional confirmation to know that I own the account but the phone number to which the confirmation is being sent is not mine it says the number ends with 76 but mine ends with 06 therefore I can't verify it. Any help would be appreciated

I should be able to mirror cast my Moto X4 to my Roku TV
I've read a few articles and watched a few youtube videos.

you basically go into the phone settings, there is "cast" and the Roku TV should show up in there. it is not. nothing is in there except my son's Google Home speaker.

i've reset the connection on both tv and phone,
both are on the same wifi network
i went into the roku tv settings, and made sure under "mirror casting" it is selected "always allow"

still, the TV doesn't show up on my phone

does anyone know what else i can try?
has anyone been able to use this phone to do mirror casting to a Roku TV?

I like to ask about the technological feasibility of an idea for a medical emergency app and want to know if it is worth pursuing.
When an android phone is locked either with password or biometric fingerprint is it possible to have an app that can be activated and made to run on the screen momentarily during a medical emergency. Pretty much like the way you can make emergency calls even when your phone is locked. Is it possible to create an app with its icon on the screen close to the emergency dial button such that app can be activated when phone is locked.

Those who have not heard the latest news, it includes the bigger Galaxy Note 20 plus, and they’ll be happy to hear that no 100x Super Zoom arrived for the Galaxy Note 20 camera.

Can someone help me please?? I'm at a loss and I don't know what to do. Google play has suspended my account because they say they need identification verification and they need to verify my payment method used on Google play. I sent them a copy of my license, but they now are demanding either a copy of my credit card front and back, or a copy of my bank statement with the account number on it! I am not giving them either one! Until I provide this information I can no longer purchase anything on Google play and all of my subscriptions have been suspended! Does anyone at all know how to get around this or bypass it? I'm desperate so if anyone has any a suggestions at all could you please let me know? Thanks so much.

I have a contact with two email addresses and need to eliminate one. But when I try to edit, only the correct one appears . The old still shows on the contact screen and pops up as a suggested address when I send a new email.

There has to be a way to edit it.

My phone was stolen. I requested the provider to lock the phone using the IMEI, they told me that they did it but they told me also that there are ways to bypass that. I searched PLAYSTORE for an app to locate my stolen phone and I come up with 2 or 3 but they look suspicious. One requests me to open a facebook account (why?), others want full access to my photos, etc.
Can any member of this forum recommend an app to locate my stolen phone using its IMEI, with the facility to delete all the contents of the memory, mem card also?

Hi all, thanks in advance for the help.

After five years with my Droid Turbo, it was flaky enough that I decided to get a new phone. My g7 is fine, does what I need, and at first I was getting two days out of the battery with my normal usage. All of a sudden, about a month ago, I couldn't get through the day. Quarantine blues? Well maybe partly, but then I started investigating.

Battery gets used up fast if I'm using it, but also when I'm not. For instance, last night I went to bed with a 100% charge on the factory charger and cable. Phone was face down and i didn't touch it all night. 7:54 later, when I looked at it, it was down to 63%.

Gsam says that's 4.7%/hr, 7:54 active.

Screen: 1%
Phone radio: 76%
WiFi active: 2%
Held awake: 21%
Bluetooth: 0%
App usage: 0%

I'm now down to 45%, after half an hour of Twitter and one text message received.

When this first started happening, a restart would give me normal battery life on the next charge. Now it doesn't.

What's up with this? I have no idea what settings to check. Could this be some sort of network issue? My hint about that is that my weather widget (gets its loc from towers since I don't have Location on) is recently showing me a tower I don't remember seeing previously. ie, instead of 'Location A, City, State' being the location it usually gives me, I'm now getting 'Location B, Different City, State.' The two cities are indistinguishable right there, and my reception is still fine - no dropped calls, etc. So I have my doubts this is the problem, but I don't know what is.

On Monday, my Galaxy Note 8 was functioning perfectly fine. Now three years old, its battery doesn't quite last all day any longer, but that was manageable. Tuesday morning was a whole different story. It began dropping about 1% every 90 seconds. It was at about 20% by noon, and then after a recharge, dropped down to 8% by about 6:00p. So literally overnight, my phone's battery capacity has rendered the phone almost unusable.

I can think of no freshly installed app that could be responsible. I am willing to hard-reset the phone, but I don't really have any confirmation of that addressing this. So that is my first question: are there battery conditions like what I am describing that are addressed with a factory reset?

What else should I know as I troubleshoot this?

OnePlus has begun the OTA, (Over The Air), rollout of their new stable Android 10 OxygenOS firmware, 10.3.4, for OnePlus 6T, McLaren and OnePlus 6 users.
