The main thing I'm looking for is the ability to store "offline" data such as passcodes for physical equipment and other data besides usernames & Passwords. I'm currently using an Evernote file for this and have been for years but I know those aren't encrypted so I would like to upgrade to something that is. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I have a new, rooted Pixel 7 and Google Fi is my service provider. The reason the phone is rooted is to run AdAway - everything else is normal.

I noticed that when the phone indicated a 5G connection, Google Maps stopped working - no update on zoom in, no ability to give directions, etc. I did some searching and it was suggested to clear the cache and the data. I did this and Google Maps again seems to function properly when 5G is indicated.

However, I noticed the same issue with Enjoy Sudoku. When 5G is indicated, it cannot download a new puzzle and will not create one locally. While I could, again, clear the cache and the data, I would prefer to not do this because (I suspect) that my history would be lost.

So, the questions are this: Why on earth is the phone behaving strangely when there is a 5G connection? Are there any changes I can make to make this issue go away? Is there anything I can do, other than clear the cache and the data, so that Enjoy Sudoku works? Thanks.

Okay, so I'm not a ”software developer”, I just program as a hobby. But I'm currently developing my own media player. I'm using AppGameKit by The Game Creators and I believe I'm running Android 11 for anyone that finds that information relevant. My player is designed to find, load, and play audio files in a certain given directory.

This given directory, the basic ”Music” folder that automatically appears in the internal phone's memory, will have folders inside it that contain audio files. My app is designed to delve into that Music directory and identify/count/read all subfolders/files regardless of their names. My app works as I have programmed it to.

HOWEVER: If any changes are made to any of those files or folders then my app cannot detect them and the whole app fails... ... ... for a period of time. The kind of thing I'm running into is that my app is designed to be versatile in reading that directory, but if a folder is added or taken away, or if one of the files are renamed, then the app crashes. But if I put the phone down, or better yet go to sleep for the night, then I'll pick it up in the morning and the app will run fine again with the new folders/files. Without me actually changing anything with the phone or the app.

So my question is this (assuming my choice of software isn't the issue): is anyone familiar with maybe a service or app that Android runs in the background that keeps a record of the system's directory tree that updates itself at certain intervals? Maybe my app depends on something like this that just isn't ”updating” when I need/expect it to. I've already tried clearing the media system app and restarting the phone. All it did was reset my ringtone. And I tried clearing the cache on my own app, but it doesn't seem to help. It's just so bizarre to me that everytime I introduce new files to my app it crashes only to be fine an hour or whatever later. But any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have a new Pixel 7 phone and two game programs on it are behaving VERY oddly. The games in question are Classic Words (basically Scrabble) and Unscramble Letters (which finds Scrabble words from letters).

The problem with Classic Words is that it is playing combinations of letters which are not words, see http://pairofdocs.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/ClassicWordsErrors.jpg. The five combinations of letters ‘circled’ are not English words. Why the heck is the program playing them?

The problem with Unscramble Letters is that it is completely screwing up the values. In this example http://pairofdocs.net/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/UnscrambleLettersError.png, the proper values for the words are: redub 8, bedu 7, brede 8, breed 8, burd 7, drub 7, etc. How on earth can it be getting the values wrong?

I am particularly puzzled because both programs ran just fine on my Pixel 3XL. What can I do to make these work properly?

So just recently within the few days, when getting into this machine, I get a black screen of death, but after logging in, I did try trouble shoot it a few minutes ago, lets hope after a soft and quick reboot that problem just stays off... hmm... I am the irony, sure I want 15 seconds shut off into lock screen off my droid, but with my p.c., want it on all coffee in the universe hahahaa

I am using Google Contacts on a Google Pixel 6. Is there any way for me to periodically archive my Google Contacts list to a file AUTOMATICALLY?

Is there any tool that would let me selectively re-import individual entries in the saved copy of the file? The latter is very important as I never want to restore hundreds of Contacts all at once. If not, then am I stuck having to manually create an import CSV file by manually editing a manually created export file?

What other key Google resources should I be backing up to files on a computer?

I just published my fifth game, although in the Google Store you only see three. This fifth wants to be the beginning of a series of games of a single level, that is, you do a level and the game ends, if I see that there is interest I will continue creating OLOs (2, 3, 4, etc...) Well the The game itself consists of passing 50 obstacles, to date my 27 friends have not managed to finish it, and they are players with a long history. My cellphone has been shutting down on me while I'm either in the middle of a game or talking on the phone and this has been happening everyday for a long time and I have tried to E-mail the manufacture but they reply by asking me for the IMEI number and my location plus the manufacturing number and all of that. And of coarse I gave them it not realizing someone could be hacking my cell and getting all my numbers and private msgs and my pictures how can I stop these ppl and get justice for the privacy breach plus possibly stealing money bc iv put my bank info in my phone also plz help!

I got this phone from ptbo square brand new n everything was fine for abit then it started shutting off while Im playing cellphone games but then going back to my main menu, iv got data n storage room so I didn't see why that was happening. So then I emailed the manufacture to tell them about it n they said to give them the IMEI number n my location n all this stuff. So I did but it's still happening. Just wondering if anyone else's phones are doing that and how to fix it?

After much tinkering (and a new battery), I was able to revive Ginny, my Samsung Galaxy Nexus!

Why would I do this? Well, for the same reason I brought my Motorola Droid back to life in 2019 (actually, that was for my "Decade of Android" YouTube video): just for the memories.

Since it has no updated network credentials, it's a digital time capsule and just as it was when I turned it off ten years ago. Check out the headline on the News & Weather Widget... which was killed off YEARS ago...

I use Bluetooth with Phonic hearing aids.

I have do not disturb active on my Android phone overnight until 6am with all notifications blocked. Between 6am and 8am, I would like to leave do not disturb on but allow phone calls. i.e. silence all notifications except for phone calls. Setting exceptions to do not disturb appears to apply to all schedules. There doesn't seem to be an ability to set exceptions only for selected schedules which I think is a poor design. Is there any other way to achieve this?

I have a number of contacts stored in Google Contacts that I use from the phone app on a Google Pixel 6 phone. Lately I am noticing that these contacts disappear if I have not used them for a while (about one year). Can someone explain why that happens? Is Google sending those into an archive status and can I retrieve them? Some of these contacts were distributors, and I had carefully added entries for each distributor location, names of managers, etc. To lose so much work is very painful, and it makes me not trust Google's product.

Hi I have one question I am looking for an GPS app for my android device it is an android car radio with 1gb ram and 32gb memory I have turned on google maps they work but it stutters terribly when I start a journey to my destination making it pointless to use it because the image frames up. Hi, total newbee here. I have installed android studio and followed a couple of simple lesson projects. Now I want to move up to a database project. I installed the current java connector for mySQL along with the workbench. Using the workbench I was able to construct a database and tables with some data. The tutorial I am following talks about importing a jar file which is supposed to be part of the mySQL archive, but I cannot find it anywhere on my pc. The tutorial is a few years old and I know things have changed. So is this jar file no longer needed? Can someone help me out here?

Also, it would be helpful if someone could point me to some more recent (current) tutorials.

Hi everyone. I'm looking to get some input if it's possible to connect multiple bluetooth devices to a Pixel 5a.
I want to be able to connect to both a third party bluetooth audio receiver for my car as well as a possible radar detector that I may be considering buying. Specifically the Valentine One Gen 2.

From this Pixel phone help thread i found, it doesn't sound like it's possible. But I want to be absolutely sure that something like this wouldn't be possible.

I figured that as long as it's not two audio devices i'm connecting it to that it would be fine, but i'm not sure.
Anybody have any more educated ideas?
