Recurring email notification fix?

Hi all,

I have Sony Xperia L3 with all the latest software updates. Ever since I bought the phone, I am dealing with an annoying problem with email notifications. I am using the stock email app that came with the phone. I have set my notifications to push in the settings.

As far as I know, push notifications means that you should get the notification when the mail arrives. Right? This is what happens for me. However, if I don't read the mail instantly and if I don't dismiss the notification, every so often (approx. 3-4 times per hour) my phone will notifiy me again that this mail has arrived. I hear the notification sound and I think that I received another mail or a message, but there's nothing new on screen - just the old mail.

This stops happening if I dismiss the notification but sometimes I need the notification to remain on the screen so that I don't forget to reply to the mail.

I don't think this has anything to do with mail servers - I have two mail accounts since I work for two companies and this happens with both accounts. The companies use different servers for mail (Bluehost and Dreamhost). Is there any way to get rid of this annoyance?

Touch Screen Unresponsive

Now I have an LG Stylo 2 Plus and a few months ago the touchscreen went completely unresponsive. I'll tell you what happened.

The phone was severely cracked just to note. I noticed the screen was dirty and without thinking I wiped the screen with some baby wipes. I didn't think about it much because everytime I wiped it, it seemed fine, but this time it just turned off and the screen went crazy and then black. And then it rebooted. It seemed fine but the touch screen stopped working and months later here I am now.

Now, I have been looking for tutorials on the internet and most of them say to hold the power button for about 15 seconds but this phone for some reason doesn't have the feature to reboot like that. You need to use the touchscreen in order to reboot it. So that solution is out the window.

I think the problem is that the hole in the bottom left of the phone got wet and then water leaked into it or something like that. But I really need help and suggestions on this situation. That phone still has a lot of photos and videos on there that I can't access.

Update WebView Component Alone on Asus Tablet ME172V

I have a pile of Asus Tablets (ME172V) that have Android 4.1.1 (max) installed on them (donated to our tiny private school by a university).

I'm developing a primitive browser app (locked to one domain) for school use, and I'm implementing the WebView component in Android Studio to do so.

Due to the age of the Android OS, the WebView component does not seem to support certain modern CSS functionality. This is causing me some serious issues.

I want to know if there's a way to manually "update" that functionality in place, by itself (just the WebView component). Is there are way to do this without needing to update the entire OS (which is probably impossible given the age of the tablets)?

Root Getting a "seandroid message" after rooting

Hello,

I just recently used the excellent directions in the forum on how to root an SM-G360T1 Core Prime using Odin.

It seemed to be OK when I was done but now I get that message on boot up and have no internet connection either. I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing so go easy on me please <grin>

I'd also like to know once we get this thing fixed, if we can, what app do I need to delete some of the bloatware on the phone? I didn't see anything obvious, like being able to click on an app and seeing a DELETE message. I' need to get rid of a lot of the junk so I don't have to buy another phone, I am on disability an money is tight.

Any help is most appreciated, thanks in advance!

Flashing with odin not working

Good day all, i hope you can help me with my problem

I got a note 10+ and it has terrible vodacom carrier firmware on it (XFV) ive downloaded XFA and XFE in an attempt to get it with simple standard samsung firmware.

The problem is that i load it with odin and according to odin all goes well and reports pass, but when the phone restarts it goes to the blue android installing sytem updates screen, then it says erasing and then the phone restarts again and sure enough there it is again... that damned vodacom splash screen.

When i go into odin on the phone it also still reports XFV, am i missing something obvious?

My Top 5 reasons to switch to a no headphone jack phone!

Here is my top 5 reasons to switch to a devices that only supports USB audio out and no haleadphone jack:

#5: It's cheaper (compared to spending more then $100 on a wired set of headphones witch can break every few months or up to a couple of years depending how you take care of them and most people just leave their headsets where ever they want without thinking..hey i should put these in a safe place...trust me we all have been there!).

#4: Audio Quality is better (everything is good with having a headphone jack but switching to a device where no headphone jack exists has better audio via bluetooth and wired and depending in the device you get they can also be improved with software updates with is a Big A++ because devices with headphone jacks wont get any updates to their audio drivers due to old technology manufactures are trying to get rid off, but could vary to person to person).

#3: Less wires to deal with (The most common problem with wired headphones is that manufactures dont build alot of headsets with long enough cable to reach your pocket to your head especially if you are tall like me or simply overweight. You have the ability to switch using 1 cable to listen to music and now these days tech has gotten better to support variety of different people and less wires mean less things to carry in your pocket).

#2: Better water resistance (since the headphone jack companies were trying their hardest to ensure your device doesn't get damaged from water and the headphone jack was a big challenge so getting rid of it does fix a common issue with water damages and save you money in the end).

#1: Better Battery life (since the headphone jack was removed the audio driver doesn't have to supply power constantly to the port even when your not using it, with USB connection the port has a open and close connection whenever nothing is plugged into the USB the USB port still supplies power to detect if something has been plugged in but in a closed connection to where a very small amount of power is being supplied. Once a USB has been plugged in the USB driver detects something has been plugged in and thus opens the connection to supply full power to the USB for 100% functional connection).

Now take this as you will i'm not trying to say my answers are perfect or even go close to what it actually is presented out in the real world but its shows us examples of the benifits then the negatives!

Help Device not falling back to 3G from 4G

Hi,
I have a Lenovo vibe k6 note stock rom on Android 7.0.
Calls are working perfectly in Jio 4G (volte).
Recently I switched to Vodafone 4G (no volte).
When I try to place calls, the device is not falling back to 3G. I am unable to switch the network to 3G or 2G manually also. However 2G works when I change my primary data Sim.
I tried swapping the sim slots, toggling enhanced 4G services, restoring the device software, changing sim cards, replacing my sim card, the same problem persists.
I am using this sim with Lumia 640 XL LTE now. This issue is not present with other phones.
Any help would be appreciated.

Android Studio update fails: Some conflicts were found in the installation area.

I'm using Android Studio on linux and was trying to install the 3.5.1 update. The update downloads well, and Android Studio offers me restart itself. But after restarting, I get this:
Screenshot from 2019-10-20 14-19-59.png

I tried updating twice, and I got this same screen both the times. This is the first time I'm trying to update Android Studio. So I'm guessing I didn't set it up properly or so.

My android-studio folder is /usr/local/android-studio

Can someone please explain what this screen means and what might have caused the problem? Also do you know a fix for this?
