App launch from URL scheme very slow

I have a Xamarin project in which the app can be optionally launched via a URL scheme from another app. On Android, when I launch the app by tapping the icon, the launch screen appears for about 5 seconds then the app appears, but when I launch from another app via URL, the launch screen sits for 25-30 seconds before the app runs. I don't see a similar problem on the iOS version.

I'm using the method and code provided in the Android docs to open the app via URL.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

Last-chance recover - any ideas?

I've got a Sprint Galaxy S6 SM-G920P which I was doing a routine battery replacement on, but when I reassembled it and tried to power it up, it got stuck with a dark screen and throbbing blue indicator LED. I'm not able to do a volume-down + power reset, and I tried multiple times to boot into safe mode, but with the screen black I can't tell when to push volume down.

When I connect it to a PC via USB, it's detected as a USB device but does not link up as an MTP device, so I can't map the drives, and KIES won't work. I installed android-data-recovery, but the SM-G920P was not on the list of devices for broken phone recovery.

I've written the phone off, but I'd really like to recover the photos. Any ideas or suggestions? I don't mind soldering.

Thanks,

LR

Help Had Google Acct, New Gmail Acct, now ALL Contacts & Calendar GONE

For years I had a Google Acct through my Yahoo email, which I had for decades. Everything has been mostly fine, getting new smart phones, syncing through Google via my Yahoo email address. Today I needed another email account for another matter, so I set up a Gmail account. Thought all was well until all my Contacts & Calendar entries are now GONE. I tried going into Chrome to log out of Google, then log into Google with my Yahoo Acct, but it resorts to the Gmail account. Please help.

Suggestions on tablet/software Jukebox

Hi all, not posted here in a while but thought I could check here for some tips.
Mate of mine has a mancave and looking to have some sort of jukebox on the wall. I suggested a tablet would be a good idea and should be plenty to offer (particularly if rooted). He is an Apple fan boy and kept going back to iPad suggestions but I was just wondering if anybody had done this or got any suggestions? I would imagine this would be cheaper and more beneficial with an Android but input appreciated.

Is it still useful to use Greenify on newer Android versions?

So recent Android versions (I believe Android 7.1+?) have Greenify like features built-in. Apps no longer run in the background and stay there as annoyingly as they used to, leading to better battery life without any third party apps like Greenify.

But I see that Greenify has this other interesting feature called Aggressive Doze. Here's the description of this feature:
"If this feature is enabled, your device will enter Doze Mode in minutes (instead of hours stationary normally) after the screen goes off if not charging, to improve its power-saving efforts.

Doze mode is a new power saving mechanism introduced in Android 6.0. In this mode, background behaviors of all apps (except white-listed) are strictly prohibited, until next user interaction or charging. The device will also periodically (in hours) exit doze mode briefly."

I wanted to know if Android still waits for hours before entering Doze Mode. If it does, this might be one way to get some extra battery life out of my phone.

traveling abroad???

I requested my phone carrier to unlock my phone from the US in order to travel abroad.

After successfully unlocked through SPRINT, I thought that my cellular data from the other country could be picked up sprint's signals.

Unfortunately, that's not that easy or simple. Nothing was working, except limited wifi. What else I should have done before leaving the USA? Is there a way to purchase foreign data plan or talk time here in the US, so once I arrive at the airport of a foreign land, I could use my phone right away ( I was trying to see if there were cell phone stores at the foreign country airport to see if i could rent something, but there was only wifi-rental). I saw cell phone stores outside the airport for people to rent/purchase temporary plans, yet I wanted to use my phone as soon as I landed but not afterwards to make important calls).

Obviously, I am like an idiot when it comes to cell phone usage. If you can explain to me briefly how traveling plan works, I would really appreciate your great helps.

no internet with data on; display notifications

Q1: Since I don't use much cell phone other than making phone calls and texting, I turned the cellular data OFF. I have mainly used wifi for internet.

However, the other other, I needed to access map online while driving. I turned the cellular data ON, but "no internet" was indicated. Due to the condition, I tried later to access internet under different circumstances, but I have NOT been able to use internet with the cellular data ON.

Q2: My husband and I both have Moto E4. Every time there is a text coming in, his phone DISPLAYS the notification (a little white box in the middle of the screen). On the contrary, mine does not display any notification on the screen. I have tried the settings to see where I could make the notifications DISPLAYABLE on the screen, but I have not had the success to find where to enable it.

Please help me with the above two questions. Thanks in advance

Help Whistle GO pet tracker, anyone?

Just wondering if anyone else around here has a Whistle GO pet tracker. I've had one for a few days, and it's giving me weird results.

For example, I can guarantee--with 100% certainty--that Joy Noelle has not walked 5 miles since Friday night, but look:

Trust me, she's been mostly sleeping...and eating. And, of course, she's always indoors. My house isn't big enough to account for 5 miles walked in 3 days! :D

And then there's this:

Her device has NOT been off, or without cellular service, but this is what it shows for every day since we got it.

Any ideas?

Galaxy S9 Update - What's In It?

I just got an update thru AT&T. It was a really big file, 696mb. My One UI and Android versions are the same, the security enhancements date were just one day later than before - its now August 28 vs August 27. Security patch level is still September 1. My kernel version changed, its now 4.9.112-16352124.

Has anyone else gotten this update and what is in it?

Help Screen turning yellowish when I do almost anything.

I've had this phone for about four months and recently it some strange things have been happening. The screen turns yellowish whenever I do the following:
Rotate screen
Take a screenshot
Exit an app
View/close open apps
Copy and paste
Return to homes screen

Also, my screenshots always come out very yellow as well. I've tried to you with the comfort view settings, the color adjust settings and pretty much everything I can think of. I tried turning off comfort view but it still happens.

I have a picture I'm uploading of what the yellow tint looks like when I take screenshots.

Contacts Won't Sync

Hi All!
In my Android 5.1 with google's Contacts app, the contacts won't export. I always get the message that the SD card is full. The SD card is 32 GB and has 8.5 GB used, 31.2 free. There are about 200 contacts in my list. None have photos, so the v-card should be small enough to fit the SD card.

Nothing I've tried, including re-downloading the app has worked.

Next I tried syncing with Google. They won't sync. Everything on the Sync list syncs. Contacts won't sync. Ironically, Contacts is the only thing I wish to backup on this phone.

Do any of you know a fix for either of these problems? Or, can you suggest a good backup application which will get the contacts list?

Thanks Very Much,
Paul

S7 gets update, then overheats!?

It's my old phone, I'm combing through it to get all my codes off it. It was last used over a week ago (0% battery)
I plug it in with just a USB outlet to charge it at my desk. I did not use a wall outlet.
It was charged up to 70% on the screen, I was able to hit the center finger-print button to start up the screen.

It did an update TODAY while it was charging.

I swipe and do some business. I then unplug phone, screen blacks out. OH..i did not turn it on.

I then proceed to hold in the start button, nothing, then I noticed it had a hot spot around the charger...I kinda expect this sometimes and just give it a minute to cool down...15 seconds later..unplugged, it's getting HOTTER?!!?
Now the heated section is climbing up to the camera and the hot-spot is too hot to the touch!
I take it outside..put it on the cold cement. (50 degrees Fahrenheit outside) I come back in a minute and it's feeling like it's cooling down finally.

I cannot power it on.
I held the power and LOW Volumune key down for 15+ seconds and nothing. I read to hold it down for longer, i Did for 50 seconds. No change. I have re -plugged it in..same set-up..and i get the charging lightening bolt and nothing else. I get no percentage. It is not warm at all.

I would like to reuse it as a secondary device. I'm miffed that my S5 never did this that is still being used by a friend of mine.
