WTF is a PUK Code? - H E L P !

A LITTLE INTRO . . .
I received my new U11 a few days ago and have been working diligently to rebuild my application suite/config. It's been slow-going, tedious at times but generally not unenjoyable — that is, until about a ½·hr ago, when the proverbial f#c%l material hit the proverbial fan. Now, I think I may be completely screwed, but perhaps I'm wrong about that. I hope so . . .

I was in the security section and having created a screen unlock password and registering three fingerprints, I saw an option to secure my microSD contents with a pin num — which I attempted to do with a six-digit number.

This is where the fun… I mean horror show started.

I'm unclear as to some of the details. I'm not even sure if my six-digit SD-card PIN even registered properly. All I know is at some point I got asked to input that PIN, maybe as a confirmation of the six-digit PIN I was trying to establish . . . and . . . then I seemed to keep getting this screen:

(Click the above image to ENLARGE)

At some point when trying to get past this screen, I think I got a message (more than once) that my entry had to be exactly 8 characters in length. Well, I know that an 8-digit code is not what I entered — I thought I entered a 6-digit code — and that's when I started to panic and try crazy, desperate PIN codes. I started out with "10 attempts remaining" and now I'm down to 6!

I even tried powering off the phone and removing my microSD card but I got the same results. So, I put the card back in. I think now, I'll pull the card back out and see if I can access the contents — expecting to fail, of course.

As you can probably surmise, I'm really feeling desperate about this . . . so anything anyone can do to help — even if it's only to point me in the right direction — will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
—Thri

Remove App is running in background notification

Hello guys,

I am currently developing a native Android app using Android SDK, it runs on location so the app runs in the background constantly fetching user's location. For that, android automatically shows a notification that app is running in background and user cannot remove it

I have found only that Android Oreo now gives you a feature where you can remove this notification. But this has to be done on every user's phone. Can we add something in our code that hides this for all users?

Appreciate any help.

Thank you

Alarm apps not working properly

Hi guys!
Sometime ago i start having problems with the clock app, because the alarm didnt ring in the morning. I tried other apps (now using alarmy) and had the same problem. I tried setting different alarms during the day and it works perfectly, but not early in the morning, and the phone and alarm settings are the same. Today i woke up naturally before the alarm and noticed that it really didn't ring - i was suspecting i might have been turning off the alarms without remembering.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Apps How to display last 10 android system boot time in my app?

I want to display the last 10 boot time when my android tv/phone was switched on. I found several post telling this solution :

System.currentTimeMillis() - SystemClock.elapsedRealtime()

but this tells only the last boot time. The android system must be saving boot timings somewhere in logs? is it possible to read those logs and where are those logs?

Help Music through ALL bluetooth devices quit working since updates. (FIXED)

I have been listening to the music files on my phone In MyChevy Link, my DEA500 radio in my semi truck, My UA Boom speaker, my Bazooka golf cart speaker, My Cardo motorcycle helmet headset, and both radios in my Camper for the last several phones I have had over the past few years.
Now all of a sudden I can not get my Galaxy S8+ to play music for more than 1 minutes on all these devices. So it's not any of the devices, It's something in the latest updates.
Any one know what the cause is and or how to fix it?

I've unpaired, deleted, cleared bluetooth cache, cleared bluetooth network copletely, rebooted.I've even delted and formatted the SD card and reloaded all the music and then reloaded it into the phone.
Still the only way I can get music to play is if I open the music player and play a song , then once the screen turns off on the phone, the music quits playing.
I tried plugging my phone into my chevy radio and other radios via a USB cable and tried to access the media files that way and I get this message on my phone.
Screenshot_20190606-200530_MTP application.jpg
And no reconnecting does not solve it.
Everything worked fine before the updates. Now nothing works right over bluetooth or cable connection.

What has Android or samsung done that is blocking access to the media files?

phone will not so much as try to boot up. please help

i went to pick up my LG G6 to make a call. i noticed the screen was gray and had some little print.....it said, "ram dump recovery" or something along those lines. i would push th the home button and it would give me the lg logo. i got home and googled what to do and none of the common fixes helped. next thing i know it was telling me the battery was at 0%. so i put it on charge for 30 mins and come back to it and it wont do anything at all now.

How to make Google maps make a sound instead of full instructions?

I use Google maps a lot and I'm looking for a way to mute the step by step instructions while still having a little sound to remind me that a turn is coming up.

Example: i mute Google maps step by step instructions, but when i get on a road and it shows to turn right in 30 miles, i might miss that turn because I'm not looking at my phone the whole time. The other option is to have the sound on, but in that case it's very annoying for the other passengers in the vehicle.

Is there a way to set it that Google maps should just emit a soft sound that will remind me that a turn is coming up, and then I'll look at the phone for full instructions?

Storage rant

Is the android storage really bad or is it just xperia? I got a 16gb phone and the apps I've personally downloaded add up to around 3.5gb (ill list them all) and alls I got free is 1.8gb. Cleaned caches, gone through all the apps to make sure and that's all I'm left with? and I just know with a little bit of use another gb is gonna be taken from me like it does, chrome, fb, huya, pubg, whichever one is the culprit stealing storage w/o me actually downloading anything. Then what's with my apps downloading files that I have no idea what they are or what app they belong to, but each on is only kbs of storage so that's fine I guess but still annoying.

So the apps I got are: FB 280mb, I translate 137mb, AVG 7mb, white noise 65mb, duolingo 87mb, huya live 280mb, iq options 173mb, astro files 24mb, VPN 36mb, Weibo 59mb, Chinese hand writing 9.9mb, VLC 79mb and Hello Chinese 39mb. Totals 3.5gb. My audio is 130mb and others is 172mb (no idea what that is)

The crappy apps that come installed idk how much they add up to but it can't be that much and I'm only updating youtube and Chrome.
Really don't like how the Android OS takes almost 6gb, for Android 7 anyway idk about other versions. Don't have the sd cards as I'm thinking how good can they be? There would be no need to sell anything other than the 16gb devices and top it up with a 256gb+ sd card, this is my thinking anyway.

Was on iPhone before this and I'm guessing I'd have more close to the 10gb of free storage now if I had the same apps. I'll defo be going back to iPhone, Android is too stressful and complicated. I was just pulled in by the Free to download from any source, more customization and price vs phone size...but it's not worth it to me.

If you read this then thanks for sticking with my rant lol

Apps connected to charger

I have a V40 thinQ. I have explored all the apps especially the system apps. I am letting my friend use my V40 right now until she gets a new phone. I was looking at my settings in the V40 yesterday trying to figure out how she deleted all my contacts and I noticed a new app that wasn’t there before. I have tried to look it up in the App Store and online but cannot find it anywhere. I asked it she made the app and she got all defensive. Can anyone tell me if you know what this app is or if she indeed made this app and added it to my phone’s system apps? It’s called Colors. I uploaded a picture of it below. Thank you!
Shelly

Recommended multiplayer game with little/no grind?

I have a buddy on PSN and GOG who is tired of grinding in Warframe. I'm not a fan of grinding, either. Neither of us wants to pay a PS Plus (or any other) subscription just so that we could play with each other, and I play mostly single-player games on PS4. So, I'm looking for a game that we can play together on PC (compatible with Mac) or Android, even.

We first met in White Knight Chronicles on PS3 and then hung out on PS Home until it shut down, and we've been playing Warframe on PS4 since. (It's free to play and doesn't require a PS Plus sub) I did not move on to WKC 2 because I absolutely hated the grind on WKC1, but he did, and had rather poor experiences with it. The problems that he has with a game like Warframe is the lack of content for those who just want to enjoy the core gameplay, the difficulty spike of mid-end game content including the story quests and star chart missions without the right gear or know-how, the fact that you have to look up the wiki to find out how to get something like parts to build a warframe, and the rather tall grind walls alongside freemium items like exp boosters that don't last indefinitely as well as inventory slots to store more gear like warframes and weapons (you could also trade valuable in-game items with other players for the premium currency, but that's not what either of us likes to do). It's not pay-to-win, it's pay to progress faster, or not pay anything and move at a snail's pace, unless the RNG gods bless you with a free booster. WKC was similar, but is a full-priced game with little to no microtransactions, and the grind was much worse in the post-game, multiplayer content.

I thought I might try my luck at Android, because it is loaded with games, we could play games together anytime and anywhere, and he has an Android phone but no gaming PC; just a Macbook. I'm also looking for games that we can play together on both Mac and Windows and not require beastly specs, but I'm sure Steam Play is available for Mac OS as well as Linux.

I know that a lot of Android games are free-to-play, but I'm looking for one that is multiplayer, a load of fun, and not too heavy on the grind or microtransactions (if there are any). He doesn't want to play a game as intense as Fortnite or PUBG, or heavy on system hardware, either. It could be a full-priced game, even, or a legacy game ported to the platform. Better yet is one that we could play on an Android emulator for Windows/Mac with a mouse+keyboard or a USB game controller so that we could still play together when our phones are running out of juice and are recharging. (My previous phone is broken)

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Messages dropping

On my S8 in my Messages App, when i type a text and click Send, the message blows off screen and puts me back to my Home Screen. If it's a short message it sometimes goes through but most of the time the text just disappears. Does anyone else have the problem? I just downloaded a new Update a few days ago. Im not sure if this App got messed up. This was a preloaded App so I dont dare delete it because I can't reload it

Google Play Store data usage high

My Android 8 system phone is showing that Google Play Store has used a total of 1.01 Gb of data since Jun 5, almost all of it in the background. This seems really strange to me. I have supposedly unlimited data on my cell phone service plan but the speed drops when usage exceeds 2 GB per month. I usually turn off WIFI when I'm away from home and avoid public WIFI for security reasons. Are there any settings I should be tweaking to lower this data usage, maybe to limit Play Store to updating apps, for example, only when I'm on my home WIFI (which is a different provider than my phone?)

Help Screen Problem

Okay, so...this is the issue I'm having.

Abruptly (I HAVE dropped the phone in the past, haven't we all, but not recently) my phone has started producing thin silver rectangles at the very top edge of the screen. It started with one, and now it's up to four, they're exactly the same size. They seem to be reflective, and are more visible in dark light.

They're visible even when the device is off, so it's clearly hardware.

It's probably not worth getting a screen replacement on such a cheap phone (but it's only a year old, so I'm quite irritated. JUST out of warranty). Is there anything that *would* be worth trying? Is this likely to spread so my phone becomes unusable? (Budget is not there for new phone, but personal safety requires working phone).

WARNING ABOUT USING AICP!

So alot if you guys may have noticed AICP has gotton so blazing fast everyone seems to like it, well what if i told AICP took the easy route by instead on using init'd tweaks or build prop tweaks or performing system tweaks

They upped the min cpu freq to half if the max cpu freq witch drains the battery way faster, just like the bug we encountered when Android v5.0 and v5.0.1 released, im not saying to stay away but hoping this gets the attention of AICP team of this problem!

Configuring IoT devices on Android

Please helllppp!!!

I have a few IoT devices at home, which are configured by opening their own wifi network and then their app does the initial configuration using that network. Some of them require the user to connect the phone to their network and then use the app to configure. The problem is that when I connect my Samsung Galaxy 9 to their network, it says it is not a safe network and disconnects it (doesn't even allow to trust it). My Apple iPhone is much more civilized and connects and allows the app to configure the device.

Can anybody tell me how to cure Android from rejecting the wifi network created by a device for configuration purposes?

NOTE: I edited a bit to add some more details. Seems like for the apps that connect themselves, it works on Android, but I have a problem with one device that requires the user to connect the phone to the device's network. This is when Android rejects it and shows a message asking if I want to switch to cellular data or use other network. How can I disable that?

Root [Sand ROoMPlx][UNuFFishAL] ResurrectionRemix Pie (9.0) For Moto X4 "payton"

2n7h56d.jpg

As usual you are responsible for what you do to your phone, I am not responsible if something breaks because of this!

Well here it is folks, ResurrectionRemix for the Moto X4. I'm working on bringing other ROMs to this phone as well but they're having some issues. For now this is the latest thing I was successfully able to build & boot, so enjoy!

WHAT WORKS
  • Should be same as Lineage 16.0 because it uses those trees

WHAT DOESN'T WORK
  • Again, same as Lineage 16.0 since it shares those trees
  • For some reason it doesn't start with a navigation bar, you have to go to the Navigation menu in RR settings to enable it

DOWNLOAD LINK

Right here partner

SOURCE CODE

It's the standard pie branch of ResurrectionRemix from their github page. You can use my local manifest RIGHT HERE which is a modified Lineage one, optimized for RR building

THANKS TO
  • LineageOS for the base of the trees I used
  • ResurrectionRemix for their wicked radical ROMs
  • The X4 telegram group for their help building and testing my stuff... specifically XDA users SyberHexen, erfanoabdi and @bcrichster
