Multitouch Keyboard from DX on Inc

Vibration still broken. & works and my auto correction works much better than on this version. Say its a step behind stock in auto correcting but I've never typed so fast in my life, in terms of how fast my fingers are allowed to go.

Choose, the same way...once you install it, you enable it in the language options, then long press on an input field to change the keyboard.

You should really try swype, its great for 'portrait' typing.

i just did this and completely forgot about this DX keyboard. i dont use landscape anyway

Does the Droid X built in swype keyboard have a microphone button!? I thought I saw somewhere that it did.

If so, we absolutely need that.
According to someone at xda, it is.

Surprised that hasn't garnered much interest here.

I know I'd love swype with a mic key!

Even with the updated one, I still have the & problem. Did you guys have to reboot after installing it?

The HTC_IME keyboard still rocks all IMO.

P.S. The HTC_IME keyboard is NOT the samething as the stock keyboard. Just google it for the apk over @ xda

No I installed the update right after the initial link (to anxious to install rather than read the entire thread ;) and had no problem after that.

Hmm not sure what's wrong with my phone then. I tried uninstall/reinstall twice and I still have the &amp problem. Guess I will wait and see if the vibration is ever fixed and then maybe try it again.

Its a shame cos the keyboard is really nice imho compared to the stock Inc keyboard.

I'd really like to know this too. I'd like to know if I can ever look forward to typing the speed I used to on my BlackBerry, or the speed I can on my iPod. If I replicate that same speed, even with this new supposedly multi-touch keyboard, it misses letters or makes mistakes.

I don't get it :(

I do know that using touch test programs, my HTC Inc. is only recognizing up to two touches at once - is that part of the problem?
Reading the Smart Keyboard Pro forum, it seems like it is a mixture of both. It is a bit of a hardware limitation, but there should be a software workaround. So I guess we just gotta wait for improvements. *sigh* Guess I'll stick with Shapewriter.

I know one thing, I don't see how some of you think the stock keyboard has good correction. It is faster than these "multitouch" keyboards, yes, but it has HORRIBLE correction.

This works, could be fast, is better than HTC Stock keyboard but don't think it can take me off of swype though. I don't really see what it offers though, maybe you can go a little faster at pecking but, swype is faster and solves the problem of not registering when you try to peck to fast.

I am typing with it as we speak. It is by far the best keyboard for sure. You can type so fast and the buttons seem a little more spread out in vertical mode than stock... all you fat fingers should love this.

this is sweet, but i think i'm gonna hang onto the file until my swype beta runs out. i am loving swype! why don't they integrate that into new phones?

Looks pretty good but with Swype already out I don't see how I could ever go back to the old slow way of typing on a touch screen. The only thing that would really interest me would be more Swype competitors.

+1
That and adding the VTT feature into Swype.
This new keyboard definitely looks like a great "stock" improvement!

I thought Swype was a pain too when I first started using it. Now I don't know what I ever did without it. Yes, it was annoying at first, but now it makes it so much easier and faster to text. I also like that I don't HAVE to swype the words to type, I can also type normally. And as far as the VTT, I only use it for texting, and Handcent has it built in. So I could care less if Swype has it. Though I'm sure a lot of people use it more often than I do.
