"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

There is also a clue that says its in nevada... so its not the first time it has been given a state.

Maybe they were found.. given time to play with then told to sign a confidentiality statement saying they wouldnt talk about it until after release and they would be shipped a free phone on launch day...

i dunno...

My bad, duh I forgot about the Nevada one haha..

Nah, IMO there's too many Droid X's already in the field for them to make people sign confidentiality agreements. I still doubt that one has been found yet.

First post here..

There was another twitter post mentioning that the point was so that people would have them before launch day I believe. But how far from launch day..... who knows, hopefully soon.

@turboxtofu44
I never saw a twitter post saying that.....

I just went over the twitter post again...and came across this....i think these are the instruction of how to play "Here’s how it goes. You find a Droid X out there. You pick it up. You turn it on. And everything changes.''

When was #3 in Nevada? #1 was in Nevada

Yea, what we meant was that they have already given a clue that pointed directly to a specific state. I forgot they said that one of them was in Nevada, and the Cali clue wasn't the first. Wasn't being specific on which one was which, if that makes sense lol.

Actually... I'm pretty sure one has been found already. I'm not certain clues have been posted for this Droid X yet and/or they may have replaced the unit at a new location since it was found prior to the start of the hunt. It was found by @zedomax on Twitter. He found it in Westin Hotel in SF, CA. I posted back and forth with him, but he wasn't overly revealing on how he found it. All I was told was that he found the clues early and the I should stay close to @Verizon and @Motorola.

Turboxtofu44: I've noticed the clues getting decidedly more detailed as the days pass. If they haven't been found prior to launch, I would assume geo coords would be posted -- followed by a mass exodus of people to said locations in a race to find the remaining phones. In any case, I'm pretty confident they'll be found before launch.

P.S @Motorola is a locked account. So, I'm assuming that these phones will be hidden NEAR Verizon and/or Moto stores.

Personally, I'm hoping one is posted somewhere near Cedar Rapids, IA. I'm only 4-5 from three major cities and more than willing to travel.

Zedomax doesnt say anything on his twitter about finding a droid x..

@verizon has no info on anything about droid x hunt

@Motorola is locked so i am waiting approval..

How did u find out he found one? I see nothing that states he did

I think i'm going to start a major web buzz claiming i found a droid x....

hahaha..

photoshop a droid x with me lol..

that would give them some publicity and maybe moto and verizon would be so kind to send me one for giving them publicity

If you read all the way down on zedomax's tweets, it says that he was at the Verizon conference where they announced the Droid X. We know they gave away Droid X's to people attending the conference. He posted that he found one and thanks to Droidlanding, but after he took pics and talked about the conference.

He may indeed have found it in the Westin, but I question his credibility since he was at the place where they gave them out like candy.

Motorola's twitter page is not @Motorola, it's @Motomobile btw.

Honestly - I don't think anyone has found a phone. Gizmodo, engadget, geeky-gadgets, etc. would have jumped at the chance to interview that lucky person already, and given that this is a viral game dependent solely on internet clues, there would have been some sort of a stink made about it besides some random twitter account saying they found one...

I've worked a couple of ARG's in the past, and I have a feeling that this one is going to be pretty simple, given that their aim is for a broader audience. They're slowly generating interest right now to get people excited until the real clues... when it's going to be a lot easier and straight forward. I wouldn't be surprised if they released GPS coordinates in some form along the line.

In other words, I'll hold my breath until something more tangible happens. They're just playing the audience for now in order to gain hype.

Hope they don't drag it out too long. I've been watching the feed have noticed a few losing interest already. Granted more have been joining, but you can only hold peoples attention for so long before they lose interest.

Heh. That's what I'm banking on... that they have a smaller audience so I have a chance. ;)

I'm pretty zany when it comes to treasure hunts like this. I was involved in the Dark Knight alternate reality game, followed a couple of geocache hunts that Trent Reznor put on during his last NIN tour, and was even on the run from people trying to find me for money at the beginning of this year (it was an alternate reality game sponsored by Wired magazine and the film Repomen - and it was beyond crazy).

If it's within a couple of hours of Socal, I'M SO THERE.

Yeah, that would be nice. I'm a pretty avid geocacher. So, give me some coords and let me loose. Stick it in the top of a tree or in a brick wall. Ill find it regardless.

I agree with the bogus claim on that dude, Zedomax. How could he find the clues early? So far, they haven't told us a whole lot, so unless he found the entire list (which I doubt is out there for the taking publicly), he's looking for his 15 minutes of fame. FAIL!

Fail indeed. He says that reviews will be up shortly on the same tweet that he says he found the X. Obvious marketing ploy since people are searching for "found droid X" it will give exposure to his website. Wack.
