Anyone in Orlando able to find any 4G service? My EVO has come up a in a couple spots saying it's available (I-4 and Alt. Springs and I-4 and Maitland, for those in the area) but I hang at "Obtaining IP address from Sprint." I found the forum thread indicating that if I hang at that point, I may need a swap out on the phone. I tried one other EVO, purchased launch day from a different location and got the same result. Now, since it hasn't officially launched, I was thinking that it might just not be assigning IP's for anyone other than people they might have testing, but I don't know. Any ideas?

If you're in the SF Bay Area...I've found parts of Mt. View and Sunnyvale that are 4G live...Also parts of downtown LA.

Just got back from DC and its covered pretty well...I was staying in Alexandria and had good coverage on both sides of the river.

I work near I-4 and 414 and I get 4g is available message and like you it hangs on "obtaining IP message from Sprint" . So its possible its not your phone and the 4g is just not ready yet.

Now according to this site http://www.antennasearch.com/sitestart.asp there is a clearwire antenna near I-4 and lee road ,but I'm not sure how accurate the information is.

If you use the link click antenna results and look for CLEARWIRE SPECTRUM HOLDINGS III, LLC.

Bay area ftw! I've also seen the notification as far south as san Jose. I want this now!

So I did some poking around on Google trying to see when Sprint's 4g would be going up in San Diego and came up with nothing. Was wondering if anyone on these forums had any info because I'm getting transfered to San Diego from Chicago and want to see around how long I'm going to be without 4G.

I have a source with HTC and Sprint that have confirmed San Diego 4G by the end of the year and testing to build up by the end of summer. I'm holding off posting it in the blog (GuyGig.com) until I get a 3rd confirmation with TowerCo or Clearwire.

I live in San Diego so I believe they disguise the newest towers here due to a city ordinance to maintain the beauty of the city. The towers look pretty corny though so I don;t know how well that is working out.

The BestBuy rep. in Mission Valley I bought my EVO from (and who also happened to purchase the EVO) said her Sprint contact mentioned San Diego should get 4G by end of the year.

I haven't been on the PC for a few days now due to my hand injury, but today at work, I connect my 3G/4G modem and this time around it automatically connected to 4G. Nothing unusual since it does that but i was shocked to see that I had 4-5 bars strength. I never got over 2 bars. So I decided to do a speed test.

I was shocked. The most I ever gotten was 3.43 mb/s. Excited to see this, I then went to to my EVO and did a speed test there. See attachement.

While its not as fast as the 3g/4g modem, I am glad that the EVo is finally getting such a strong signal in my office here in Queens, NY.

TS out

that sucks that they disguise them like that since they cant install tall towers...i would think it would more difficult to avoid signal blockage with towers that are only 25-60ft tall.

all you have to do is enable 4g with the 4g widget, or go to menu, settings, wireless & networks, then select turn on 4g...if you have 4g you will see a 4g icon in the notification bar.

Is 4G working for everyone? I'm not getting a signal today, and I have been using it steadily for the last couple weeks. I hope if they've turned it off that they turn it back on soon!

Sprint told me they have no 4g in Sacramento at all but, I recently discovered I get full bars of 4g at my house. I live in Antelope, CA which is part of Sac. I get speeds of about 3-2.5 mb dl and 1mb upload using speedtest app and Xtreme labs shows me getting roughly 4 mb and 1 upload dont know which one is correct. But just thought I should inform any Evo users in Sacramento.
