System Upgrade 1.47.651..1 (21.43 MB) Now Available

Since I can get to the bootloader, any chance I could try to manually update the phone? This, of course, would then lead to the "how" question.

Question though. My phone did not reboot after the update and I'm not having any issues with widgets. Basically nothing happened.

In fact the HTC software update offer is still there however I'm not going to touch it due to the previous brick post (thank you thank you thank you for posting that as I would have surely done it again).

So how do I check to see what version I have?

Nevermind, got it done.

I did the update on my wife's EVO. The input lag is still there after the update.

What is input lag?

FWIW I can no longer hold down keys on the virtual keyboard and get the alternate text for that key.

GUYS DONT DO THE SECOND UPGRADE IT WILL BRICK YOUR PHONE, NO BOOTING UP NOTHING!!!!!

The why will come soon hopefully.

Stock phone. No problems with the update. Talk stays shut down. I have no updates available.

Did you guys with problems have a full charge on the phone?

I did a reset before loading the update (lower volume+Power option). Seems to work OK, but I can't find the Touchdown license app anymore. Accessing it from the Market or App brain times out but the main app install and work fine.

I did not have a full charge, but my battery was at least 50% charged

My update worked flawlessly. After the download the process took less than 10min and my wallpaper even loaded back up. I did have one out of my 12 app shortcuts say "problem loading gadget" but I don't remember what it was so it can't be that important.

I love my EVO!

p.s. I have NOT rooted my phone ever and I have only downloaded about 15-20 apps since I got my phone on June 4th.

Here's something i noticed after the update.

I always kill off the gtalk service. Every 3 minutes gtalk service starts up again.

whack..

This happens to me too w/out the update. I kill it via ATK or Process Manager and it comes back hours later it seems (all on its own). Whatever.

I had unrEVOked installed, just ran the update over the top of that. Had to re-run after the update, and now my root apps work just fine.

So unrEVOked works after the upgrade?!??!!? unrEVOked twitter just said not to apply the update yet...

What is PRL?

There is a section called update your PRL?

Taken from PhoneScoop

PRL

(Preferred Roaming List)
The PRL is a list of information that resides in the memory of some kinds of digital phones. It lists the radio frequencies the phone can use in various geographic areas.

The part of the list for each area is ordered by the bands the phone should try to use first. Therefore it's a kind of priority list for which towers the phone should use.

The PRL helps determine which home-network towers to use, and also which towers belonging to other networks to use in roaming situations (areas where the home network has no coverage.) When roaming, the PRL may instruct the phone to use the network with the best roaming rate for the carrier, rather than the one with the strongest signal at the moment.

Since a PRL tells the phone "where" to search for a signal, as carrier networks change over time, an updated PRL may be required for a phone to "see" all of the coverage that it should, both with the home network and for roaming.

Odd. I have mine updated and dont have this problem. I tested the 12345!#%')*9 and it all worked. Granted its not all of them but its a pretty good sampling of it.

Which ones have you tried?

My phone is not rooted and I only downloaded the update once. I walked away during install came back and screen was off. Didn't think anything of it but then check back 45 mins later and the phone won't turn on. I tried taking out the battery and putting it back in but that didn't work. Needless to say I'm pissed

Updated to 1.47.651.1 with no real problems. Just had two widgets go ugly which I deleted and reloaded.

Ok you guys have me real scared about updating. I really cant have a paper weight right now. Should i wait and see if htc fixes these issues? My phone is perfect and i dont want a refurb after the phone possibly bricks.

Haha I feel the same way. My phone is doing pretty good right now other than the battery life. I really don't want to mess this phone up. After reading all these issues, it looks like this update is doing more harm than good lol. I think I'm just going to put this ''update'' on hold for a bit.

Why in the hell are people pulling their battery during an upgrade? On what planet is that an OK thing to do?

Why do you think people are pulling their battery during an upgrade ????

My phone is bricked because after a successful first upgrade the second upgrade killed the phone.

I've been scanning this thread constantly today to let anyone else know not to download the second upgrade and also to see if other people in the same boat found a fix.

In all the posts, I don't see anyone with a bricked phone that pulled their battery during the upgrade.

For someone's that'a a moderator on this forum you should really get your facts straight before you make assumptions

Google Talk was also running on my phone, even though I have the option set to NOT automatically sign in. When I load the app, it automatically signs me in anyway...

Also, I had the phone on the charger all morning, so it was above 90% when I started the update. I updated exactly one hour ago, and its still on the charger. I am now down to 50% battery, and the phone has been awake and the uptime is exactly one hour and counting. So I dont know whats going on, but apparantly something is still running and killing the battery, even though its been on the charger all day.

When I did my update it took a while for the update to complete. It rebooted a couple of times and was stuck at the 4G screen for a bit. I just let sit for a bit and let it all complete. The phone rebooted and started up without any issues. There were some widgets that I needed to reload but that was all.
