***Official "I will have my Droid X in my hands at such and such date" thread***

Hi what29 I was just curious on how strong the vibrate is when ringing.. if I remember correctly some D-Inc owners said it wasn't very strong thanks for any input.

@what29,
I am very curious & concerned regarding the loudness of the speaker of the DX when a ringtone or music is playing.
I missed calls on my droid incredible even with the volune maxxed out.
The Incredible's speaker along with vibrate Was NOT loud enough for me.
Would love to know if the DX's loudness lives up to the loudness on the Motorola Droid.
Now THAT phone IS loud!!!!!

Thank You For Your Time,

WOW, the only other droid x on ebay went for over 1300 and the buyer had over 600 feedback, i got lucky as hell i guess.

anyways, hope i can answer all the questions.

The pictures are very good, better than my Dinc, which i was always unimpressed with. i am very happy with the camera but i am not an avid photo taker so take that for what its worth.
i would say the same quality as the 3gs or the N1

I live in a very poor reception area (read "sticks") as my service on the dinc in my office was always switching between 1x and 3g. it did not do that once today. The call quality is superior from the 10 or so calls i have made. on the dinc the caller on the other end sounded muddled, not so at all on the DX.

The speaker for incomming calls is EXTREMELY LOUD, like i posted earlier, it is near the volume of old Nextel Phones, you will not miss a call with this speaker.

The vibration during a incoming call is not that great, i do have it set to vibrate for texts and calls but the vibration is only so-so

I stand corrected, i thought the pages resized when zoomed but it appears they do not. i used my own website as an example and it did not resize to fit the screen after i zoomed in.. but when i did zoom in it was very clear

hows the stock music player? have you tried that yet?

Thanks for all your feedback and effort towards contributing to the forum. Greatly appreciated! You've really alleviated a lot of worries I had.

the music player is stock android, nothing fancy at all. i really dont know if i will be able to stress test it other than normal daily use which consists of bluetooth music, wifi and 3g internet, an hour of calls, and some playing. i will let everyone know how tomorrow goes as tonight will be the first full charge. will take it off the charger at 7:30 tomorrow and not plug in again until it is dead using it as i normally would.

Is this when you are pinching to zoom? Can you doubletap to zoom as well? On my droid pinch to zoom doesnt resize to fit but doubletap does.

MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT SO FAR......and for me this is a big one, others may not care.

With the N1 and Dinc, they each had a optical trackpad or a mouse ball, which made for selecting exact text much easier. Since the DX does not have such a device copying text from web pages a lot trickier. first you should be able to just hold your finger on the screen to bring up the options to select text or a bubble of some sorts, this is not the case. you have to go to the menu---setting----select text to start copying any text. here comes the tricky part, there is no on screen cursor so you do not know exactly where you are selecting until the pink line shows up after you touch the screen. As soon as you remove your finger from the screen it says "text copied to clipboard" i have not found a way to even scroll down the web page, basically if you cant see it you can copy it. there has to be a way but i have not found it yet.

in text messages if you place your finger anywhere, a little red bubble comes up showing you right where you are selecting but not on the web. needs to be fixed or i need to learn how to do it correctly. If anyone knows something i am missing please post. I copy and paste emails to all of my customers when orders for bats are placed and this is a pain in the a$$

you are correct and thanx for the tip, double tapping does resize the page and pinch to zoom does not. thanx

st naturally

I know these are just ramblings and my first impressions but i am very happy with the phone and not hesitating the purchase at all. Took it into a verizon store and they were blown away, the employees there had not even seen it yet. needless to say there were no invisishields ot cases yet. i am trying to fit a HD2 screen shield today for temp use.

i love it! showing it off at VW store classic!

again, when i say lag it really isnt meant to make anyone think the device is jumpy it is not. when i came from the 3gs to the n1, back in january, i thought the n1 was a little jittery, but that was quickly fixed and this is the same thing. it is not 100% smooth but i would rate it at 90-93% smooth. i did turn off the DX live walpaper and put a static background, but no difference was made. again, i would rather leave the live wallpaper up and running because it really is not a big deal, just not iphone smooth

@what29 not sure if i understood you correctly on the text selecting thing, but aren't you supposed to be able to push and hold or something to bring up a magnified bubble so you can select text accurately.

That sux cause i couldnt stand the droids choppy while flipping screens, the inc. was smooth as silk....bummer this may be a 30 day trial for me,,

That is what i thought too but i have not been able to do that on web pages at all. in texts, or notepad sure not on the web

and again, it is not choppy, somewhere between the release N1 and the Dinc

i would suggest using another launcher. try launcherpro or adw (both are in market) . both are excellent and will take care of that issue.

oh sorry i thought you were talking about a moto droid haha. i had the htc eris before gettin the droid and even that was pretty smooth (that phone has a $h!t processor and it lags just typing)

Oh ok. Sure hope there is a way without having to wait for an update.

Any chance you could load up LauncherPro and see how it runs. Curious to see if it runs smooth. Might be better than the stock launcher.

just loaded launcher pro and it is completely smooth now. probably will keep it loaded, there have been some nice changes since i last had it.

edit: just uninstalled, can not stand how touchy the app tray is. it kept trying to launch apps when i was scrolling. not a problem with stock app

Also everyone, remember....FroYo will be coming to this phone in August which should take care of any slight lag issues experienced (and hopefully fix that internet text selection thing what29 talked about).
