"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Call them up Gamble, here's the number:

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
1 Key Plz , Cleveland, OH
Phone - (216) 781-7625

I just called. The guy had no clue what I was talking about... But of course, that doesn't mean it's not there. It all depends on what we're looking for and how we're supposed to find it...

I just called them. I told the guy that answered about the scavenger hunt, and he laughed a little. He said he hasn't seen anything out of the ordinary, or any Verizon or Motorola people or things anywhere. He told me to try the Hard Rock.

He could be covering it, but the guy sounded genuinely clueless.

Lol, was it a guy with a deep voice? Kind of sounded like a radio voice? If so, it's the same guy and he's probably like "wth are these calls i'm getting?!" lol

While the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame does seem like a likely place, keep in mind that it could be somewhere else in Cleveland as well. Drew Carey coined the phrase "Cleveland Rocks" in that sitcom that he used to have...

On another note... I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY PUT THIS THING IN CLEVELAND!! WTH?! Cleveland definitely doesn't rock!! /rant

:)

Cleveland definitely doesn't rock and Drew Carey is crazy. The only good thing about Cleveland is you can buy a house for the price of a VCR.

I lived there for awhile, and it is a lot better than most places in OH!

Personally, I would drive out to the RnR Hall of Fame and look for anything close to it or the Hard Rock which is only a few blocks away

A few of you guys (I think you were one;)) said it HAD to be in Columbus and everywhere else sucks. That's all I meant.

Oh, ok. Guess it was just worded funny...

Yeah, it SHOULD be in Columbus... I mean, it's smack dab in the middle of Ohio and gives more people a chance to get it (since it's a central location)!!
PLUS, I'm here and I'm not going to one of those other cities to look!! lol

Yea that was him haha. Sounded deep and like he just woke up. He had a smoker laugh. So much for his morning at work nap, the phone is going to ring for a little bit lol..

Columbus > Cincinnati > Cleveland > Dayton > Toledo (close between Dayton and Toledo... Toledo actually might edge them out, since it's on the lake and all...)

Ok, it's the 3rd best city in Ohio... I'll give you that...

I am thinking that these Droids may not be ready to be found just yet. The reason I say this is look at the Iphone 4 which has some defects that could push some people away for now. If Verizon let's this phone be found to far in advance they run the risk of some problem being found and hurting their initial sales of the phone. With that being said I love the fact that they are doing this hunt but would be very pissed if we are doing all this work now and the droids are not yet in place!

Wouldn't those defects have surfaced in one of the many reviews that are widely available?

Well look at the spot on the screen that the Iphone has or the fact that the antenna is covered if you are left handed. I am not 100% but I believe those didn't come out until after the release date and the public got to test them.

This is just my idea and well if we don't speculate then the forum will get stale....lol

Who reviewed the iphone before it was released though? Maybe I'm just drawing a blank but I don't remember seeing any review until release day and with VZW hyping this phone up you just know some ifan is looking for any reason to rain on our parade.

Cleveland Rocks is a 1979 song by Ian Hunter. I searched Ian Hunter in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and there is a "Treasures from the Vault" exhibit that includes artifacts from various artists, including Ian Hunter:

There are at least 20 Droid X's in the hands of reviewers right now. No one has reported any hardware malfunctions to date. Motorola phones are "built tough", so if there is going to any major issues I would think that they would be software related, which can be fixed with OTA updates.

The iPhone 4 was under wraps, except for the two that leaked lol, until the release date. The reviewers got the phone in their hands the same time that the general public did. If they had the iPhone as early as they had the Droid X, the problems would have been reported prior to the release date.

Not saying that there won't be a "lemon" sold on launch day, but right now there are no foreseen issues with the Droid X's hardware.

Hey guys.

Me and a friend just got back from the Hall of Fame. No luck.

The one thing that made us really start to think it was there was this previous tweet on June 26th:

Droid X designate #12 has been spotted in the heartland. Sending out amber waves of hdmi.

Any ideas??

What were you looking for and did you look EVERYWHERE at the HOF? And did you ask multiple people about it?
