"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

My point was that cameras can see things we can't, thus enhancing our vision, and it wouldn't be too hard or costly to place a flashing IR beacon where the phone/token/certificate is hidden.

A will admit that a major drawback to that is it may not be visible in daylight, but this is all speculation, right?

Gotcha

Hmmm. So #12 is in Ohio and rocks but is NOT at the R&R HOF. #1 is in Nevada, has power, maybe near the Hoover Dam, sees flashing lights & levers pulled and in a desert, but it is not at the Sahara Casino ... Let's get the next clue for #3 in CA and see where it leads us!

Not to mention some clues for 2, and 8-11. #7 only has 1 clue, somewhere warm. At the rate they're going the 15th will be here before we get enough clues to find these...

That's it I'm going out to TMS tonight w/ all my companies equipment - Infrared Camera, GPR, Full Spectrum cam, night vision, and more. I'm bringing all my toys. If I don't find it tonight it isn't there!!

What's "TMS"?

...And what company do you work for that has that equipment?! Sounds like the stuff I see the people on those ghost hunting shows with! lol

We own an Inspection company that does Home & Building Inspections, Infrared Audits (Energy), Sub-surface investigation, and we've even been hired for gold hunts w/ our equipment. We were actually on an episode of UFO hunters.

Hah! Cool!

You guys should branch off into ghost hunting as well... :P

And DROID hunting! LOL!!!

P.S. You do know someone already looked out there, albeit w/o the special equipment.

I've narrowed it down to a couple of possible locations out there, based on some of the clues. The clues are pretty vague though.

Whoever is writing these tweets needs to be punched in the mouth.

I have a hard time believing Verizon is paying people to sit at these discrete locations waiting for someone to show up. In my opinion none have actually been dispersed yet.

I drove around the Texas Motor Speedway's parking lot today but never found anything. (However, that place is huge and has so much parking and camping areas around it that I could spend half a day out there and still miss a lot of areas) I also found that tower that was pictured above, but there was nothing around. I also checked the nearest Best Buy and Verizon Wireless stores, and the employees were clueless and I didn't see anything.

The search continues...

Did he find anything? How are we supposed to know if someone found these already?

Nope! And trust me, if one was found, I'm betting we'd know about it from somewhere. If I found one, I would brag to the world.:D

I heard that if you're close to one and you scream as loud as you can...it'll start beeping, so you can find it.

Try walking around with all of that equipment, screaming as loud as you can. ^_~

That's how I feel as well. I think they're not going to even be in place until they start giving some really specific clues...

Well, I'm making plans now. I live in Iowa, but unless clues for a closer Droid X pop up, I'm planning on doing a road trip to Ohio this weekend. Hopefully this beast isn't found before then.

Lol, are you coming here just to look for the Droid?!
If so, I guess we know your answer to the "how far are you willing to travel" question! :P

Wouldn't this trip cost you more than it would for you to just wait and purchase one on the 15th?

Does anyone know what it means for DroidLanding to be following people? DroidLanding has over 12k followers, but is only following 189 people (and that number keeps going up). Does that mean something? Is anyone else followed by DroidLanding? It seems odd that a site setup to tweet to folks hints for finding a droid is selecting people to follow.

Probably, but my wife has been bugging me to get out of the state for a while. This just seemed like it would be a good weekend for a road trip to someplace random. Plus I've never been to the R&R HOF... might be fun!!!

If I find the phone, it's simply a bonus. Not going to lie though; the phone is my primary mission.

@crazyzete I thought it was a little unusual at first myself. However, I noticed that they were following a large number of tech and review sites. I think they're following people and places that have a large number of followers to get the word out and more people following. Correct me if I'm wrong about this.

Hah! Good stuff!
Well while you're at it you should check out the Pro Football Hall of Fame as well! It's only about an hour away, in Canton...

Good luck, Stan. I drove around out there for a while last Friday, obviously with no luck. I hope you post back here again after you look to let us know where you searched and if you found anything. You should check out the Lone Star Tower offices and see if there's anything around there, too. I'm curious what other spots you have in mind. Good luck.
