I just saw the same van in the same place.. got a better pic

Much better this time. The thing the stood out for me is the gas cap area. The little gap between the side of the van and where the gas cap opens still has paint cover the gap.

Everybody ready for another fun filled day with @droidlanding? ;)

If things really do kick off this weekend, they're going to have to start pumping out clues at a tremendous rate. We still haven't even heard about #2 and #8-#11. That's a whole 5 droids that we know nothing about.

I disagree that the phones/tokens aren't hidden yet. I think they are out there and ready to be found. The biggest problem? We have no specifics on what we're really looking for.

Let's assume one is hidden "at" the Rock and Roll hall of fame. What led us there? Two words: "Buckeye", and "Rocks". Is it on the grounds? Inside? Nearby in a park? Who knows... At this point unless you happen to spot the phone itself (unlikely) or some other easily recognizable symbol such as the red droid eye, you could be looking directly at the container and not even know it.

Also, if the treasure hunt clues are well constructed then every clue will be relevant to finding the phone. Taking #12 as an example I haven't seen any explanation offered as to what "amber waves", "heartland", "robot eye", or "no choice" mean. Are these words any less important than "buckeye" and "rocks"? Maybe, but I doubt it.

Also, what about the seemingly nonsensical clues? For example, "Is it a hundred miles away or right under your feet?" Does that mean they're literally buried "under your feet"? No one knows. Has anyone tried digging yet?

I've also seen a lot of speculation about finding a VZW or MOTO employee present at the location. I think this is misguided as well. Why? I think VZW/MOTO simply hired a marketing firm and said, "let's have a treasure hunt". Poof, there's a treasure hunt and no one except _maybe_ the highest levels of VZW managers know anything specific about the contest.

Just my $0.02

The "Amber Waves" and "heartland" clues were given before we knew exactly which state #12 was in. "Amber waves" is a reference to "amber waves of grain", which was a clue telling us it's in a part of the US with a lot of farming (Ohio is a big farming state). "Heartland" was just another clue trying to nudge us closer to the actual state... One of Ohio's slogans is "Ohio, the heart of it all" and you can also argue that Ohio is kind of shaped like a heart (at least more-so than any other state). "Buckeye State" was obviously the final clue to confirm that it is in Ohio somewhere... because Ohio is the "Buckeye State" (the Buckeye tree is Ohio's official tree)...

So there is your explanation for what those mean...

As far as "robot eye" goes, I feel like that is just more filler... But it could mean something, who knows... And that leaves "rocks" and "no choice". We've obviously had our speculation on the "rocks" part, but to no avail yet. And I have no idea if "no choice" is a crucial clue or not.

On a side note... One of my buddies that works in a VZW corporate office here in Columbus, OH just posted this on Facebook:

"The new age is here. First post of the Droid X. Let the awesome begin."
(8 minutes ago via DROID)

They had a business contest and he finished in the top 45 out of 8000+ so they put him up in a hotel in minneapolis and gave him tons of free stuff.... INCLUDING A DROID X! The one that he posted that FB status from!

God I hate him now... lol

Anyone notice today's clue is conspicuously late? Or maybe they are going back to the original schedule???

"Droid X designate #8 doesn’t wish it was in Dixie. Or connect in hdmi. Because it’s already both."

Posted at about 10:10am EST, so it looks like back to the original schedule maybe...

#8 in Georgia, maybe? Although it could be South Carolina, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina or Tennessee as well...

They keep pushing the HDMI theme... maybe the phones are connected to a TV at their respective locations??? Wherever that is...

Yeah, I'm totally lost at this point. The only thing I beleive is that no one is going to find anything until they reveal, at a minimum, the states that each one is in. That leaves us like 5 Droids, so maybe a few more days of frustration before more specific clues come out. :(

Has anyone replied to any of the tweets asking WTH is going on?

Yeah...after reading the latest 'hint' I am reminded about the earlier statement about the 'hint' giver needing to be punched in the mouth.

The hints aren't clever. They're not amusing. They're not funny. And, they're not helpful.

And to make matters worse...their grammar skills are horrible. Whoever wrote that clue is either stupid or is making fun of grammar in the south. If that's what Verizon's intentions are...shame on Verizon. They have many customers in the south that they are possibly going to insult.

PS: that last one had tons of more characters left so it's not like they had to try to squeeze that statement in. They still had over 40 characters left.

Right above... I'm starting to think that it might be the case. I think it's a possibility if they're giving away the phone and not the service.

I bet you all 100 doll hairs, that most of these devices are hooked up to a tv playing some dumb video, and i bet that there is some sort of app running on them that vzw can watch with the camera who is around the phone.

100 doll hairs, huh? That's a new one to me! lol

I could be wrong, but I don't think the droids are hooked up to a TV. that would make them powered-on, and i think an earlier clue indicated if you find one you power it up. But besides that, they have made references to 1GZ, 4.3" Screen, and HDMI in several clues - I think they are just advertising the main features of the Droid X.

I think we need at least 3-4 clues per Droid before we can narrow it down. First they talk about a region, then a state, then it looks like they start narrowing to a city....We know #8 is somewhere in the deep south, but I don't think we know anything more than that...I also don't think there is going to be a way to pinpoint the location based on a single clue.

What? You know, not everyone in the south is racist. By assuming that, you're the one doing the stereotyping.

I don't think he was suggesting that the people are racist, I think he was just saying that he feels that the use of the term "dixie" is racist and outdated in itself.

@DroidLanding just saw a huge does billboard on 77 heading into Cleveland

Anyone know if this is new? Anyone get a picture to see if it may have some other clues?

I'm kind of a Twitter noob... How to do you see messages that mention "@DroidLanding"? Is there some way to filter or something?
