"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Tabe - I am using a twitter extension and have a permanent search column just set to "DroidLanding". You can do the same thing basically from search.twitter.com and just put in DroidLanding or #DroidLanding the # is usually to distinguish a topic and make it easily searchable, but Droidlanding is pretty unique anyway and this way you pick up any public @'s as well.

I don't think he was suggesting that the people are racist, I think he was just saying that he feels that the use of the term "dixie" is racist and outdated in itself.
The word Dixie is neither racist nor outdated.

Not sure if this has been suggested already, but with them constantly repeating the whole hdmi theme (amber waves of hdmi.... hdmi state of mind... etc), I can't help but think that it might be connected to some sort of HD screen, bet it TV, monitor, etc. Maybe that's what will make the search much easier... like when we see it, we will know.

Even if it's not powered on and connected, it could still be connected by hdmi to a screen that's just feeding some sort of "droid" symbol from another source.

I think this is purely coincidental, but the guy who wrote Dixie (the song) was from Ohio.

Dixie really is pretty vague for the entire Southeast US. Googling Dixie around here literally returns hundreds of hits for any town, so it's not really helpful.

I certainly wouldn't complain if it's in TN. And Chicago is fair game this weekend as well. I don't expect that I'll be one of 12, but it'll be interesting to see how they finally reveal these.

Yeah...kinda like the Northwest or the desert, or the East coast, or...

Again, the clues get progressively more detailed: region -> state -> city -> ??? (haven't gotten any more detailed than state yet)

At this point I don't even care if I find one or not... I just want SOMEBODY to find out! I'll feel great if someone that is participating in this thread were to find one with the help of the others here.

This is interesting too. The old DIXbanknote from Louisiana.

Huge RED "DIX" (DX) in the middle, like an ancient Droid clue ;)

Just a neat guess, but consider the designers\planners for this scavenger hunt - This would be an awesome clue\idea to use.

Just my 2 cents, rather than wasting a huge post to get on to or correct someone cause I feel insecure ;)

Is it just me, or is there no PR accounts to follow for the south east or Florida?

Wow...from the 2002 Census, Florida is the 4th most populated state. Is Verizon really going to snub a state with so many people in it...even a big city like Miami? Number 1 collegiate football teams...and so many pro sports teams...AND the tourist capital of the United States?

0.o

I seriously hope those PR accounts have nothing to do with this contest.............

Next "Clue"...

"The next time someone tells you 'hey, look at that', you better look. It might be the Droid X."

Well, that was completely worthless. Next!!!

I am guessing the latest clue is reffering to some sort of sign being pulled behind a plane. Just think that would give the oppertunity to a lot of people to go online and put in the code.

Mmmmm. Doubt that. Like Slider said, worthless.

I'm now following Carolyn, but as someone else stated... where's the southern folks? TN/MS/AR/AL/LA...

They got as far south as KY.
