"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

i think all of these are going to be located at the same place, and i still think that could be a blockbuster to co-promote the new on-demand application. they really need the publicity right now, other than news of them being broke.

i don't think these are going to be sitting in parking lots, hidden behind signs, or in casinos or restaurants. i think they are going to be in a place that ties in with a verizon/droid x application, and blockbuster is the one that makes the most sense to me.

If it is hidden inside a business like this then I stand by my earlier assumption that they aren't out there yet. There is no way to keep it hidden from employees and hence the general public for this long if it is placed in a place like a blockbuster or verizon store.

after seeing this

#13
-Droid X designate #13 is going north. Its 8 megapixel camera can almost see Canada.

i hope its in michigan, downtown in detroit right near the two main ways to get to canada (bridge and tunnel)

i don't know if any other state sees canada so visibly. i just know about here.

In NY you can. Niagara Falls and if you take Interstate 81 north it goes to Canada. You have to cross the St. Lawrence River

Here's another point of view:

Based on sheer population number, I bet there's more than one of them in New York City. Just like how Droid #2 is probably also in CA (SD or LA), in addition to #3 in SF.

So, maybe the Canada one is also in NY.

Oh Baby! I got a hot idea now... who is in the san fran area again for #3?!? I know we chatted and I'd like to see if these ideas help any.

well guys im off to bed.....I really hope they get into more detail with these clues....this week/weekend should be huge!! Im hunting for that #12 wooooo....i think we shoulld all have what # we are really lookin for in our sigs or something..lol...

#12......

I would still like to see one in the Richmond, VA area. But it has been fun reading through all the posts. Hopefully someone here finds one. I wish I could think of something that would help but everyone here seems on the ball. Lets hope for some better Tweets. :D

Wow, I'm getting clue overload! :D

I don't think there is going to be two phones in one state.
I think #2 would have said on the west coast if it was there, so I think it is in Utah, likely Salt Lake City. Probably close to some giant solar farm.

I also feel there has to be a Chicago on the list somewhere, so maybe that is #14 with the Northern Cardinal.

What about Las Vegas for #2? That IS a desert afterall. This might make more sense than SoCal now that I think of it. The clue says "by the west coast." SoCal IS the west coast. (My guess would be one of these two - as people typically connect sunshine/westcoast with SoCal)

It never occurred to me that there wouldn't be two in California. The state is extremely long, and Verizon's presence here is massive. I don't think they would do this without putting one in the LA or SD region. Also, the Tweeter isn't a genius. Absorbing some extra sunshine is definitely a reference to Southern California, in my opinion.

I was thinking that too. I mean, California is what? Like 3x the size of NY? Plus how its shaped, NorCal and SoCal are practically different states in themselves (physically and culturally). California is long whereas NY is more circular.

As somebody who makes the 8 hour drive from SoCal to the Bay much too regularly, I completely agree. :) I have considered heading back up to Berkeley for the next week or so just so I would be in place to snag the SF phone.

Hot off the press! Droid found on Lombar St!

Corner of Lombar & Lyon

R2, Where are you? on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Ok, so not exactly what you expected? Well, technically I found a droid on Lombar ST and I do believe this may have something to do with it.

Check the Google Street View @ the corner of Lombar & Lyon in San Fran, notice it is blue now but there is a huge ugly green box next to it. Plus there is a park near by. Time for another trip?

Hidding them near the Droid mailboxes (or used to be droid boxes) is a Great idea! Possibly this is it? We'll see.

Go get it! ...maybe :)

Report back, shoot us some pictures as well. You never know what is not obvious now will be later with more clues.

Thanks!

Also someone asked for my information on #12. I've decided I'm not going to go to Cleveland, so here goes.

Clues #12:
1-Droid X designate #12 rocks. With its 1Ghz processing power, it has no choice.
2-Droid X designate #12 has found its robot eye in the Buckeye state.
3-Droid X designate #12 has been spotted in the heartland. Sending out amber waves of hdmi.

Number 3 is a pointless clue, I don't think amber waves means anything & it fits with the first clue of every Droid X being a pointless clue. Number 2 is a state clue, nothing more, but it has the key word: eye. Number 1 certainly is a local clue & let's expand on it: It rocks & has no choice. I agree it places it in Cleveland close to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, however there really isn't anywhere to hide it, considering it's mostly private property there. So we go back to the keyword: eye & a nice green park like area, where something can be hidden. There are like 8 green areas around the area, but browsing the streets near the the museum I found: Rockwell Ave. It has no choice to rock, because it is on a street called rock. On this street is a statue with an eye, that looks very robotic:

The statue is even basically telling you to "hey, look at that". There are a lot of hiding places around here: bushes, trees, etc. If I was around this area, I would check it out very thoroughly. I was waiting for the next clue (a street clue) to mention the word "well", to fit with Rockwell. I hope it helps someone.

Did you leave off the D in Lombard? Anyway, the green box is where they store mail for the carriers. It's locked tight. The R2D2 is actually cool. When were these taken, do you know? I gotta go back to work tomorrow, so I can't shoot down there... WOOP, you game this time?
