Just picked up a new white Evo.

yea it definitely looks like some kind of after-market mod...it wouldve been awesome if the whole thing was white instead of the back half...strange choice by HTC

HTC tried too hard to emulate the white iPhone 3G :\

Guess they wanted to comfort some converts...

Btw my pics made engadget also. Looks like im one of the firsts to get a white evo.

I was just about to say, I did a google search and saw your pics on engadget. Nice!

I'm kinda assuming that it landed in your local Best Buy early due to you being so close to Kansas City, but like I said earlier, when I placed the "emergency pre-order" (at that time) for the white EVO, they told me that the 7th was the release date, despite the "announced" 11th release date, so I'm thinking there was more to that than the rest of the Best Buy employees knew. I'm in Los Angeles, so it's a little further for the drop shipment to reach here from Sprint.

If I remember correctly, I believe some of the leaked shots (when it was named the Supersonic) showed it sporting a white back as well. I was actually surprised that the phone was black when it came out.

As you can see build date is June 14th. White back, white and black side. The phone comes with a new box that shows the white evo. Charger and sync cord are still black. Took a pic of the phone with the date so you know its real.

I think you have my same camera - is that an Orange Casio Exilm I see in the reflection..? :D

Does anyone know if this means that us with black EVO's will be able to purchase white backplates?

It won't look the same as the back trim will still be black but I think it could still potentially look pretty cool.

Haha its a Kodak m320. Target had 3 of them marked down to $50 so i got all 3 and gave the other two away as gifts. I think they should have done an all white Evo also. Maybe they did and it didnt look so hot?? IDK.

EDIT: What is the app that will tell you what screen you have? My black evo was a nova and i want to see if this is the same

The white version looks alot nicer then what I thought it would. The only gripe is the side I wish the sides were all white instead of half white half black. Other wise it looks cool.

see HTC would have some competition on iphone if they learn to design and package better. It would be nice to see full white, white sides, and white bezel.

I don't know about being able to purchase white replacement back covers, but I contacted a company www.coveroo.com that is supposedly making it a priority to have "custom" replacement battery covers, for the EVO. Those will be customizable (either engraved or color).

Just not available yet, so we'll see how long it'll take before they have it avaialble for the EVO.

I'm not sure I'm feeling the two tone or the glossy back. Might sell it and keep my Ver. 3 blk. one when my white one comes in.

how can you find which screen you have?

1. Download "Android Terminal Emulator" from the Android Market.
2. Type "dmesg" into the emulator (without the quotation marks).
3. After typing "dmesg" into the emulator, hit enter.
4. Hit the menu button and email the results to yourself.
5. Search for "novatec" and "epson."

Best Try just called and said my white EVO is in.
Picking it up after work and see if I like the white.

Just checked my Ver 3 phone and the screen is an Epsen. That explains why the screen is not as vivid as the Ver 2 I had. At least there is no light leakage.
