Accessories Quest for the tightest thinnest EVO Case

I think I'm done with the snap on case. Simple 2ft drop from my lap to driveway put two nice chips up top where there is no edge coverage and it to a nice corner chunk out of the case itself.

Think I need something with all edge coverage, but still wouldn't mind the same minimal thickness. I put the loose studio case back on for now. Not sure I'm happy with their fix either. It didn't tighten up the case. It just filled in the extra space with more felt instead of actually changing the mold to make it a tighter fit. one of the selling points is it's Guinness which is negated by more felt.

that really blows about your phone. yeah the thin "half" case, if you will, i basically got so i could sit my phone down and not worry about scratching up the cover that holds the battery in. certainly didn't get it for all around protection lol.

Well I didn't have illusions of grandeur in regards to protection. I guess I've just been lucky for the past so many years. Well that, or I learned to put my phone in my pocket before filling up my hands with twenty things as I go from the car to the front door.

I'm down with thin and minimal protection, I just want the front top and bottom edge covered in thinness :)

:eek:delusions of grandeur:eek:
Noun 1. delusions of grandeur - a delusion (common in paranoia) that you are much greater and more powerful and influential than you really are

:Dyou certainly don't have this:D

I agree 100% with you about the thin and also about the full coverage, though. I have yet to see such a case though...

I meant towards the case and providing all great and powerful protection to the phone.

edit for mr hagan: illusions....false perceptions or beliefs. meaning can still hold with that phrase. just sayin'

Am going to try one of the epic cases, the thermoplastic resin ones. A couple companies seem to have them. Worth the $8.

I wonder how thin the new Seidio Active case is, it looks pretty sweet, and I am thinking that the eBay rubberized isn't going to cut it long term...

j/k

I just received one of the black back hard rubberized cases from Ebay. When I applied it, and took it off, I noticed it scruffed up the part of the phone on the sides between the screen and the back cover (that rubber part). Now I have 2 scraped parts on my phone...wtf...

The best case is the AMZER Argyle. Its very light very thin and is one piece so it wont explode off in a drop. Because its flexible it also provides great shock absorption in a drop. Cost? $8 on ebay.

I believe Amzer is just a reseller. They don't "make" anything. I believe thermoplastic polyurethane is thermoplastic polyurethane no matter what brand you slap on it. They could all possibly come from the same mold.

s.

the thin case that everyone's getting, comes in black, blue, red, neon green, purple, etc... well i just got the clear one and wish i'd gotten it to begin with. completely clear, no defects of any kind.

Can you post pics of the clear case on your phone if you get a chance? i'm awaiting the red thin case, but don't want to deal with peeling or leaving residue so i'm debating ordering a clear one also.

yeah, np. i just took pics of the case itself while off of my phone. will be another 4hrs or so before i can upload due to being at work currently.

I have the red rubberized one-piece case that most folks in this thread are using. I'm not happy with it despite it being $8 shipped. I ordered one that didn't say "rubberized" in the description, but as I suspected it has the same coating. Before I even installed it, I gently rubbed my fingernail along an edge, and the textured paint (no way this is quality rubberized coating) came right off. After being used a few weeks, I'd say 30% is gone just from it being in my pocket.

It looks like a cheap version of the Case-Mate Barely There. With lesser camera protection.

I've got a TPU case on the way. Hopefully that will do the trick until Case-Mate and Otterbox release some of their better designs for the Evo. I would love a case with built-in battery, another 500-800mah is all I would need.

If I had to have a "good" case right now, I'd get the Seidio Active, I like the integrated two-layer design and it offers a lot more protection than anything I've seen to date. But for $30 it's a little on the expensive side. Claimed 2.2mm thickness.

I just bought this...

I hope it is like the Amzer/Epik TPU cases... for $2 shipped its worth finding out.
I got one of these. Not from the same seller but similar price and it's tpu. I imagine they're all the same on ebay.

There are individual cutouts on the back like in the pic. It fits tighter than the silicone one I got on ebay and covers less of the edge of the screen which is nice. Even so it is raised above the screen to protect it when layed face down and it does protect the camera. It is also about half the thinness of the silicone case. I got the black, which is kind of a semi transparent smoke color. The only criticisms I have are that you feel the power and volume buttons, which are covered, less than you do on a silicone case and one side of the case has kind of a rough seam. Both minor issues. I like the case better than the silicone and for the price it's hard to beat. I think I'm going to get another in another color.

sorry i totally flaked on getting those images up of the clear thin case. i swear i will today after work, as i'll be on my laptop getting some homework done.

My rubberized hard thin case from Ebay cracked today... I have no idea how... but I am thinking of going with the new white/black Seidio active, price being the only thing holding me back!!

side note: how much $$ is casemate, incipio, otterbox etc... losing from not having their cases out by now for the EVO?!?!

almost like $eidio is the only premium option...

i just got my epik case today (and my brother got his nexus one too) and it is hands down lightyears better than the best buy case i mentioned last month. it is SO much easier to press the power button and the volume keys. it's unbelievable. i'm so upset that i endured this entire time pressing it down with my thumbnail. it's so smooth to press and reacts very well.
so basically it has all the pros of the best buy case and the ease of pressing the buttons. i'm in love.

as requested, pics of the thin case. sorry, didn't take any of it on my actual phone, but you get the idea, i hope :p

edit: it's also worth noting that case-mate is now stocking something very similar. the main difference with the case-mate ones, though, is that it was designed to raise the camera, which these don't do.
