"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Trader Joes?:)

Just curious, does anyone else think there will be some sort of hidden camera by the phone to document that its gone. Or does VZW assume once the phone is found, that person will turn it on to activate, and that is when they can stop giving clues for that particular phone (this is on the assumption that the phones are indeed out there in the wild)

Yes, I agree. I think the phone may even be recording and displaying it onto a screen. Or hidden cameras. Too many clues support this to ignore it- "eye to eye", "look on your face", etc.

There has to be some kind of Corporate presence at each phone location in my opinion, I doubt they'd leave each phone sitting unattended for 2 weeks. Which continues to support my thought that they are in a controlled environment.

Just following up on my previous post, I thought Best Buy is the only place that took preorders?

Edit: Unless they're just shipping it to random Verizon customers' houses? Not sure people would feel too safe getting a random package at their doorstep though.

Remember, I called everything North of Atlanta, and you get Atlanta and South. I am hoping there is one either in North GA, East TN or North Alabama

I'm in ATL too, I"m all over it if there is actually one out there. I'll take north ATL...you can take North GA and he can take south ATL. It's too scary down there for me!

I think whenever someone "captures" one of the missing ones there will be some type of official announcement, so I'm highly skeptical that any of these early ones are found Droids..

afaik they are. Reading the post it sounds like this person didn't necessarily preorder. And calling vzw customer service they wont let you preorder and say that you CAN'T preorder through them.

The only thing I can think of is if Motorola/verizon is sending them out.

When droid landing first started it linked to the droid X page on verizon and you could sign up for info with your email and address. Maybe some people are getting droid sent to their house through that info?

I'm going to be pissed... so much of our time and lives wasted over this if they just decided to start shipping random people devices and calling them the droidhunter winners

It'd be difficult, if not impossible, to find how where a person lives through their email address though

I do remember reading that anyone who was waiting on an Incredible was able to switch their order for a Droid X instead. Perhaps they are the ones receiving these X's first? .. Just a theory

So registering at Verizonwireless.com may enter in a drawing for a free one?

7/15/10 final tweet: Dispersed droids located. Capture yours at your local store for $199 after rebate.

Idunno. I'm starting to itch with the "bs" call....it's hard to tell in the photos, but that date on the box for "deliver by" doesn't really look like 07-06-10....

The Droidlanding twitter profile bio says:

"Droid X phones are hidden across the country. Follow us for clues."

This leads me to believe that this early delivery idea is nonsense, as is the idea that someone is holding the phone waiting for you to come and ask for it. Occam's razor people--easiest solution is the most likely solution and the phones are actually hidden. I would love it if people like Morbid are right and these are really intellectual clues, but I think they're not that advanced.

I would feel great about getting a random package from VZW unless of course its from their Islamabad fulfillment center.

Someone will have to confirm or deny but I THOUGHT I entered mailing information on the verizon/droid/motorola site. Around the time DroidLanding started

Wow this page is moving. Off topic does this website have a mobile version? Sucks trying to bring it up on the Storm.

What an unproductive day ..
Both due to the fact that no Droid X was found
AND
due to keeping up to date on this thread I have done minimal work today.

Try working you will spend over a hour to catch up. :p

I'm convinced they haven't placed the phones yet.

In fact, I don't even think they know WHERE they're going to put the phones. They're just waiting to see what people guess and will eventually use those guesses to pick locations.

I disagree after Geocaching Monday I can see them hiding in plain sight and you will never know it. Some really clever people out there hiding stuff.

Hell we had fun thinking of doing the geocaching thing now. My 6 year old had a blast

Do it its a blast. I didn't even buy anything I just use my Storm and if that phone can do it I know the Droid can.
