"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

With that said, lets just chill out and forget about this possibly hoax; get back to the clues, and find these hidden Droid X's OK?!:D
One interesting thing from the posted Fedex info is that it says it was delivered to a Receptionist/front desk. So it went to some type of office.

Is this person shipping it to their office or did it go to a company to hide?

Thank you!

My general observations for the day:

We are up to 21 Droids.

These clues are getting more frequent- today is the 7th (EDIT- I can't read a calendar- 6th) and we got 7 clues. They are obviously ramping up the amount of clues daily so this indicates they want the phones found soon.

There have been 60 tweets from Droidlanding so far, 19 of which are general clues and 41 are specific clues. Their clue pattern so far has been Region-State-City-area for each phone. That's 4 clues per phone before we can even start to guess where they are. 4 x 21 = 84 tweets necessary to even begin to look for every phone. We need 43 more specific clues to know the locations of each phone. If they continue their posting pattern (add 1 additional clue per day) we should have all the information by the 12th (EDIT- 11th, see the calendar comment) of July.

Hmmmmm........ very possible. It would contradict the early statements that all droids are in their locations but at this point anything is possible.

whoa.. what are you an accountant or analyst? (FBI profiler???) ... Exellent work on the data analysis!

It sure seems like clues are coming fast and furious now... almost every hour or so, it seems. Hopefully no new #5's until tomorrow, when I can search this time ;)

Nice indepth analysis except, today's the 6th:p

Edit: I type too slow. Please ignore.

Not sure if it matters but I'm also fairly certain the poster of the clues is on the east coast. They start posting at 8-9:00 EST and stop around 5-6:00 EST. That's a normal workday, if they were on the west coast they would have to be up damn early or have programmed their Hootsuite to post at funny times.

If it is truly a 3rd party doing this, who are the larger PR/Advertising firms located near Verizon's HQ in NYC? (marketing is not my forte so I don't recognize any of the names I see on google maps nearby...

id like to know more about this mike guy and justhow he got 2....he posted under that article you guys were talking about at droid-does.....

MIKE

this is confirmed, ive got 2 x's in my possesion, only one is activated, the other might be seeing ebay if a shortage occurs :D

shipped with android 2.1 NO FLASH (not even lite) ninja blur is descent. resizable widgets are cool and useful. phone usage is still about even with my d1 with similar setup (same widgets, beautiful widgets, photo for wallpaper, launcher pro) and the d1 is @ 800mhz

overall i am VERY happy with it. if i wasnt in my position i wouldnt reccommend full retailing to one from a d1, but if you've got an upgrade its a sweet phone. mind you, an even more bad @ss droid will be out, and LTE is just around the corner too, so be mindful if you are on a tight budget and deciding what to use your upgrades on...

Until he posts pics I'm calling BS.

Is this site (specifically this thread) bogging down for anyone else? Increased traffic?

EDIT- I know he's full of it. The DInc ships with flash lite, there's no reason the X wouldn't have it. All his information looks secondhand from online reviews. Bad assumption

All reviews point to the X not having Flash lite (probably because they know it'll be upgraded to 2.2 very soon)... Guess the production units could be different though, but that wouldn't make sense.
But yeah, agreed on all of the other info he provided. Sounds like regurgitated review speak.

Exactly. there are pictures on the Droid Life post, and Kellex (the blogger) responds to that comment posted by "Mike" as though he is legitimate. Several people have tracked the box and it seems to be legitimate. But he's not answering the inquiries about how he managed to "order" the phones to begin with.

this is what i was referring too....
Random DROID X Orders Arriving Early? - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog

supposidly that mike guy is the owner of that x...

I read that too earlier... someone saying "I have 2 Droid X's" in a blog comment section isn't enough evidence for me to believe him. His info sounds like secondhand review bullet points, and I was doubting his Flash lite comment since the Incredibles ship with Flash lite.

ahhhh ok

...But yhe X isnt supposed to ship with Flash. That part is valid...

Maybe you've read different reviews but everything I've read so far says that DX doesn't ship with flash.

As for believing Mike in the comments I dunno if that's the same person that has the phone, but the images of the shipped fedex box seem pretty legit to me. I don't know what other proof you need

Fedex box= legit. I fully agree.

The commenter "mike" on the page who supposedly received 2 X's is questionable.

I based my Flash comment on the fact that Incredibles have been running Lite for at least a month, there is no reason that X's should ship without it. I could be wrong on that aspect though. Bad assumption

... and that makes him a tool. But that's the way some people act when they are the first to have something. It's not that difficult to say you changed your Incredible order if that is what happened.

Man, this isn't making any sense... According to Droid-Life:

"Well get this. As I was typing this post out, I received another email from someone in Huntsville, AL who works at a Verizon call center and has reported that they just took a call from someone who had some questions about the new Droid X which just showed up on their doorstep. After hitting up some other reps in his center, they too are reporting more than a few calls of people trying to activate Droid X devices."

How in the world would people be getting them shipped early to them if they aren't allowing pre-orders?! Could some of these that are being called in to be activated possibly units from the scavenger hunt?!! I'm confused...

Pretty sure you are wrong on that. Keep in mind the 2 phones come from completely different manufacturers... Like I said above, the X isn't said to come with Flash Lite. And it's probably because it's scheduled to get the 2.2 update soon after release. They probably figured it wouldn't make sense to include an inferior version of flash when they would soon get the good stuff.
