I kind of agree, but only because I'm 30 minutes outside a big city. People in a big city still have a great chance. No way I could beat someone that's already in Atlanta.

Guess it will be a mad dash then. I'd like to ask for some opinions as to when you think they will be dropping these clues because currently I'm about an hour and a half away from Houston (In College Station), and I wasn't planning on going back to visit family until Monday. So should I go in earlier, say Saturday or do you guys think I'd be okay waiting?

Thanks

If I had to guess I bet a lot of them will be given out this weekend as more ppl would be free to hunt them down.

OK well judging by the uneven amount of distribution of clues, I'm going to guess that the ones with more specific clues (NY, SF, St. Louis) will have the certificate hidden within their cities first. Looks like I better put on my running shoes.

So this means that we can stop trying to figure out these clues and just keep hitting refresh on the twitter page until we see GPS coordinates? Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Now the wait begins for the coordinates

I'm not taking my shoes off until this contest is over...

Just have the tweets texted to your phone. I get mine 30 seconds after it's posted.

So these clues are pretty much worthless because the certificates won't be in place till the GPS coordinates are posted correct!

Also exactly what would GPS coordinates look like exactly? Im pretty sure Ive seen them when using google maps but just wanted to be sure.

I'm not sure they're gonna post the exact coordinates, I still feel it might be like the Mall of America clue. It's at a store near a place. So it narrows it down, but not exact.

yeah, I think this promo sucks. The ONLY way you are going to get it is if you happen to live or work right by it when they give the clue. I guess if you camp out by the Mall of America you can be in the general proximity for when they tweet the GPS location. Evne if you do go all out of your way for that, if 20 people get there at about the same time then you still only have a 1/20 shot of winning.

What's even worse if nobody gets there (which is hard to believe if they are giving you the coordinates), then some random smo is going to win.

This is just asking for a major fight the first time one is found.

Oh snaps. I didn't see that. The link to the terms is to the right, right on the twitter page. They must have just put that up there this afternoon, right?

I was just doing to ask the same thing. The rules don't actually say they're going to post GPS coordinates. It just says final clue of each GPS location. Therefore it could be a clue like verizon store closest to clearwater beach or something of that nature. Specific, but not exact coordinates.

i still think you are going to have to look for the certificate...its not just going to be laying on the ground like a piece of garbage

ok....i work 20 mins from cleveland.....can i put my phone # on here and you guys help me out when #12 is available? via text? or something......please? :)

hey guys i think they have given the final clues to both the mall of america droid and the nyc droid....

bear with me...
today is the first day of the contest and we just got really specific clues for those two phones...
per contest rules...Dates and times of Certificate placement will vary, but the final clue of each GPS location for each Certificate will be tweeted at the time it is hidden. Participants will have 4 hours from the time of the posting of the final clue to find the Certificate and once it is found, follow the instructions on the Certificate to claim their prizes

do it to it and get looking!!!time might be running out!

I'll be surprised if it is there.

I really do still think there will be a day when they LITERALLY post coordinates to the location and it'll be a free-for-all.

Until then, we're just going to get teases like this.

I knew it. Definitely not 42 Entertainment stuff.

OMFG!!! I'm pissed. I spent 10 hours of time each way + costs to look for something that didn't exist?!?!?!? Really!?!?!? THESE RULES SHOULD HAVE BEEN POSTED BEFORE ANY TWEETS STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!

Not upset about the trip. I still had fun, but seriously. If I had know it wasn't there, I'd never have gone.

I think its funny that people are complaining now. They are giving away 21 droid x's for free and some of you are mad that you dont have a good chance of getting one and quitting? Are you kidding me? The fact that you even have the slightest chance of getting a free droid x should make you happy.

some people will never be happy i guess.

Ok, so now that I've had time to actually digest the terms and conditions, I realize exactly WHY this is not worth it. If you really really really want a Droid a few days before it hits the store, then maybe it's worthwhile to you. If you're looking to get a FREE Droid X, then I don't think it is.

I'm not an expert, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong here. When you win a prize in a sweepstakes, game show, etc, those prize winnings are reported by the organization holding the contest to the IRS and are taxable winnings, based on the estimated retail value. If you win a vacation as a prize, it may cost you more in taxes than if you just booked it yourself.

so, the terms in conditions state this retail value of the Droid X is $569. If you are in the 28% tax bracket, your going to be taxed on $569, or pay $159 in taxes. Now, if I buy the phone from Verizon on 7/15, with my new every 2, i'll pay $150 for the phone. If they have a promo code (like $30 off a smartphone, or 10% off any purchase, i'll pay less).

So beware. After considering all of this, I just have taken myself out of the hunt. It's not worth it for me to win a free phone worth $150 to me and pay $160 in taxes for that.

Only pay income tax if it's valued over $600

also according to the rules there is more than 1 certificate at the location?? or does that mean if 2 people grab it at the same time??

In the event two (2) or more participants find a Certificate at the exact same time, Sponsor representative will conduct a random drawing from among all those that found the Certificate to determine the winner
