"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

maybe, but they seem way too wide open, unless it's at the end of the pier like u said. r u in this too???
Wide open would probably work fine because they can see people coming and looking for it.

Does anyone know if the phones they are giving away are unlocked? or do they come with the stipulation of accepting a verizon contract???

Thanks

Probably going to only work with verizon. It's hosted by them I can't imagine they'd give you a phone and then let you take it to a different carrier.

So who else is trying after #3? I want to know my competition:p

(Sorry I haven't been posting Mahers. Been busy and when I did have time to check, the thread was moving too fast for me)

I might be, but I'm pretty far away. I'll be in the south bay, but I may take a day trip to SF if they announce anything ahead of time.

Also, if its in Chrissy field, it could be rather difficult with all the road construction in that area (towards the GG bridge). Probably would be more towards the pier.

Oh no, that would suchk if you have to leave b4 it. HOPEFULLY its not on sunday cause I work. When you heading on vacation?

I wish it was vacation, heading out of town for work.. leaving Tueday night probably. Maybe Wed. morning

Do I see 15 Tweets today already?

Someone was calculating that... is that correct?

I also heard someone say some are from or should have been yesterday? Does anyone have anything Solid on that?

Not from a unidirectional view though, unless they don't intend on doing so. Its a park, so they could come from all angles.
I don't see why that matters much. You can watch a wide open area fairly easily. And if you're expecting a lot of people to go looking you don't want something with only one entrance/exit in case it gets crowded or something. Granted the Pier doesn't follow that logic but it seems like the second phone did.

I think based on the previous clues that were found, that the Lombard clue is a city clue. And yeah, I agree that it has to be somewhere low in tourist traffic and somewhere that they can see you coming so they don't get caught off guard. But wheeerreeee.. hmm.
hope u figure it out and are in the area when posted, or someone who actually did try to figure out clues...

i'm going for #3 too. i'm in the north beach area (by pier 39 and fisherman's wharf) and plan to bike wherever the droid is at.

i'm going to vegas this weekend though, so good luck to all the #3 hunters over the weekend.

btw, yes there is a pier at crissy field. it's kinda short, and it's on the far west side of it (by fort point).

no idea. is there?
I don't think so. From what I remember in the few times I've been there, its just the coastline.

Nice, you'll be ahead of me already since I'd have to cross the bay bridge. Yeah probably not Crissy Field. When you say towards the pier, are you talking about the piers as in Pier 39 and Embarcadero area?

wouldnt ggp or crissy field be obvious? there are usually a good amount of people there and unless theyre gonna fake having a bbq or something or walking their dogs, a bunch of people simply standing around would seem highly suspicious.

Just found some interesting tidbits on the official rules page:

4. Prizes and Approximate Retail Value ("ARV"): Prizes (21): A Verizon Wireless Droid Phone ARV $569.99 each. Service not included with phone. The total ARV of all prizes to be awarded in the Promotion is $11,969.79. Limit one (1) prize per person/household.

6. Winners List: For a list of winners, available from July 20, 2010 to August 20, 2010, and for the official rules visit Droid Does | The Next Generation of Does by Verizon Wireless.

Prize is awarded "as is" with no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied by Sponsor. By participating in the Promotion, participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor.

So by #4, I interpret that as if you have an existing contract you can activate this phone w/o re-upping.

By #6, they might not be done with the contest until AFTER the 15th...

The last bit is buried in rule #5, but implies that you won't have a warranty on this phone?

Here are the full list of rules: Verizon Wireless Droid Scavenger Hunt

Pretty sure they are V phones.

The guy that won #4, he said he is currently w/ att, and has to wait a few weeks until his ATT contract runs out.
