"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

The15th at noon is less than 6 days away and they still have 19 more Droid X so that would make it about 3 hunts a day

Strange they haven't announced more 'leader' tweets telling us what days to expect what droids, but I bet they'll give away 3-5 each day on the weekend.

Almost 20k followers for DroidLanding now.. odds get slimmer every hour.

If I find it - EBAY!

Droid X ebay before release = $1000
Droid X after release = $570~
Droid X Contract = $200

So planned correctly

Droid X Ebay Sale Price - Droid X Contract Price = Happy Guy with Droid X & $800 bucks! (*Minus gas, travel time, new keyboard and bandages for forehead)
I'm pretty sure it says in the rules that the phone can't be transferred so you wouldn't be able to sell it.

I'm thinking if they give out another one today it will be on the west coast since they haven't given any hints to let people get ready yet.

I don't think they would go past the 15th:
1. Sweepstakes Period: The Verizon Wireless Droid Scavener Hunt (the "Promotion") begins 12:00:01 Eastern Time ("ET") on July 7, 2010 and ends 11:59:59 ET on July 15, 2010 (the "Promotion Period").

The15th at noon is less than 6 days away and they still have 19 more Droid X so that would make it about 3 hunts a day

I think that is supposed to mean 1 second before the 16th. I could be wrong though.

So as stated before there should be another one given away today, 3 tomorrow, 4 the following day...etc.

100% clue: first modern traffic light invented here
But where is the source for that? I searched up and down and got mixed answers everywhere. Some pages say Ohio, some say London, some say Detroit.

I'm gonna have to request work off in order to hunt for it... which is why I'm being so cautious. Lol

I think the key word is "MODERN"... As in the ones that are used today (or similar to).

"In October and December of 1920, a Detroit policeman named William Potts constructed several red-yellow-green light signal systems."

"The world's first three-color, four-direction, elec. traffic lamp, was installed at the intersection of Woodward Ave. and Fort Street, Detroit, Michigan in October, 1920. It was designed by Superintendent (then inspector) William L. Potts of the Signal Bureau, Detroit Police Department. Basic design remains practically unchanged today. The signal remained in use until 1924 and became a part of the world's first synchronized signal system. This system extended from Jefferson to Adams on Woodward Avenue and was controlled manually from a tower at Woodward and Michigan."

DroidLanding
People call this city a Twin City with St. Paul. But with Droid X designate #18 there, in 3 days it will be the only city for Droid hunters.

is this clue from today, or meant for yesterday.

Is it on monday?

Let me know what you think. i am seriously thinking about going down to find it.

Okay, that makes sense.

What about the cement plant clue, though? I think Alpena, MI is the home to the world's largest cement plant.

99.9999% sure they(DroidLanding) meant Detroit

Who Invented the Traffic Light?: William Potts of Detroit

Also Because Droid is built on strength and reliability, and can take just about anything you throw at it. Just like the people where it landed. can refer to anything, but I'm thinking it sounds like car slogans.

Also how about that "biggest cement plant" hint?

Michigan Fast Facts and Trivia says Alpena, MI has the biggest plant (possibly outdated: the MO one is the largest green cement plant)

Francypants or ANYONE
where can I find the verizon tweets?????
Please help!

and also, mall of america is not in minneapolis, so where would they stick it?

Yeah, I'm not sure if they consider MOA Minneapolis or what. I'm about 10 minutes away from both.

It should be Monday based on today's hint, unless that was supposed to come out yesterday.

Hmmm. Well, I guess I will be taking Monday off and camping out in Detroit. Anybody else gonna be going to Detroit for this? Also, is there a specific time of day that you guys think they'll stick to? I'm gonna need to find some place where I can sit all day without being hassled (Starbucks or something).
