"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Okay, that makes sense.

What about the cement plant clue, though? I think Alpena, MI is the home to the world's largest cement plant.

Well, we think they got that clue from old facts... The one in Alpena USED to be the biggest, but now the one in Missouri is the biggest.
But regardless, I think they are talking about the one in Alpena... And it was a state clue, so... MI

Hmmm. Well, I guess I will be taking Monday off and camping out in Detroit. Anybody else gonna be going to Detroit for this? Also, is there a specific time of day that you guys think they'll stick to? I'm gonna need to find some place where I can sit all day without being hassled (Starbucks or something).

I will be in the D waiting as well . You better hope you are bigger than me. ;)

Ste. Genevieve, Missouri

FROM the US DOT web site:
Nation's largest cement plant opens;
Recovery Act projects fuel demand, jobs
Today is one of those days that inspire my optimism about America. I'll be in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, to celebrate the recent opening of our nation's largest cement plant.

But does Genevieve, Missouri have anything to do with modern traffic lights?

So yeah, I work in Philly about 5 blocks from where the phone was. As soon as the coords went out, I left work and ran to the Institute. I wasn't sure what I was looking for, so I walked around the outside of the building, checked the little park across the street, and checked inside (which was free to get into). I walked past the Franklin statue that they took his picture at, and looked around the inside a little. Checked back outside some more. As I was heading back in, I heard someone coming out saying it was in a corner and a guy had found it. So I went back into the statue room, and saw the guy with the certificate and all the people standing around him.

It turns out, it was hidden a little alcove that I completely walked past several times. The reps there even told me they watched me go past a couple of times. If I turned my head, I could have easily gotten it. I was focusing on the people though, and looking for someone in a Motorola or Verizon shirt, and completely ignored the room itself.

So the winner got his phone, and the reps had a camera and was filming everybody who showed up and all. They asked us a few questions like What are you looking forward to most about the X, where did you come from to get here, etc, and had us sign waivers so they could use the footage. Also, they had a few X's with them that they gave to us to play with, which was pretty cool. And while we were playing with the X's, a rep from Motorola came up and introduced himself and gave us each a $20 gift card to Verizon, saying it was so we didn't leave empty handed. They told us, hey at least you got a gift card, and I told them, "Yeah but I'd rather a Droid X", at which point they paused, turned the camera on, and asked me to repeat that. So hopefully I'll make the final cut of the footage.

I didn't get a chance to play with the X that long, because I had just totally ditched work to run out here and had to get back, but as I was leaving I heard them saying that once the traffic by the statue died down, they would take his picture there, as you saw they posted.

So yeah, to all you hunters out there, you're not looking for a person, but the red Droid eye with the number on it. Don't make my mistake and lose your chance on it.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Sorry to hear that. I would've been pretty mad at myself if I knew it was right under my nose. Thanks for the tips on how to find it though

Are the people who find it free to do whatever they wish with it? Like, if I found it, could I sell it on eBay or give it away to a family member to use?

Good to know it was free to get into this place - I don't think they will hide it in a place where you have to pay - (ie $22 to get into the R&R HoF for #12)
