Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

I went to a stand-alone BestBuy Mobile in a local mall today, and the employee told me that today was the last day of the pre-orders, and if I ordered with him today, that I would get one on the first day. I did the pre-order today. Was he lying?

Aookay said till sunday...not sure if that means today was the last day or tomorrow is the last day....I hope its tomorrow...I jsut got my upgrade date changed

On a side note, I tried to check on the 1yr price again tonight, but no luck. They now have it in the system for us to ring up, but they will not package out. That means they only ring out for the retail price (which is in fact $699.99) and I can't see how much it is after discount. I'm off the next two days so hopefully Aookay can keep checking.

thats awful bb is charging over $100 more for full retail then VZW which is charging $569 for full retail

to be honest, you're the first person i've seen that is that far back in the preorders. the highest i've seen was 11/12.

Ok so heres the dealio. Tomarrow, sunday the 11th we are going to start our family contract with Verizon (we have att right now)

We have to go to a different Best Buy then the one i preordered at due to a different phone being in stock for my uncle. My plan was to just get a Droid, then when the other store says my phone is in stock, to the 30 day exchange. If i go to the store i am going to tomarrow and they have a shorter waiting list, can i transfer my preorder to that store?
 
i called near local verizon they going open at 9am i will go there to upgrade my phone if not crazy line
since BB wont let do early upgrade

if i failed at verizon i will go to BB get phone for one year contract since i pre ordered

but hopeful i get at verizon because it cheaper
so if i get droid X at verizon then im going buy dock and hdmi cable at BB with $50 gift card :)

cant wait 4 more days :)

It's usually 20 months in. I don't know when they would allow it on a 1 year contract, to be honest.

Usually we get it within a week of our first shipment, if the EVO is any indication. But it could be earlier, we didn't receive our second shipment of EVOs till the weekend after the launch.

Don't hold your breath. No store knows how many they are getting on day one and the deff don't know how many they are getting on the second shipment. Nobody has dates for when they will arrive yet. I checked my system today and it just shows them on order, but there aren't even in transit yet.

Is [removed by Mod] a best buy employee thing? When I first started working there the employees were the first people I ever heard saying that...

I will check tomorrow, but we have been getting slammed every day this week, so we'll see. PM me the SKU, that would be helpful :)

It is the last day of pre-orders, he is correct. If there were not very many preorders at the stand alone, I would say he might be telling you the truth, but regardless, we aren't supose to guarantee a phone on launch day, just to make sure we don't over promise and under deliver :)

Today was the last day of preorders. The SKU is taken out of our system so we can no longer do the preorders =/

It's strange. I've seen this with a few phones, the Pre and the Touch Pro 2. It must be something with the vendors, I wish I knew =/

Still, we will do the price match.

No, because everyone has their own seperate preorder list, and the SKU has been scanned and the stock allocated.

What you could do though, is get the Droid when you get the plan tomorrow, and then just exchange it for the X on the 15th.

OOOO do u mean return the droid from the store i get it from? I dont know if the BB in Tustin is going to be any less busy regarding the X. Ill ask though.

Hahahahahaha. Funny thing was i was actually going to go to the store in Riverside because its near my cousins house, and we just happen to be there the day our AT&T contract expired.

Ive actually been super impressed by all the BB around me. All of them gave me straight answers with no bs, and better yet, they all gave me the same answers!

heres a question: i already preordered my droid x on july 5th, but my line isnt the primary line on the account. however, my eligibility upgrade is in august and my contract end date is in december. will i only have to pay 150 the day i pick up my droid x?

Yes that is correct if you're getting your phone through Verizon.
If you are getting your Droid X anywhere else you may not get the NE2 discount. Which means you be paying 200.00
 
Well, I was really hoping to get an ad from Verizon Wireless in today's paper advertising the Droid X's full price to have Best Buy match it. VZW only does an ad like once a year so I was pretty much expecting nothing. So, I'll be waiting outside my VZW store early Thursday morning to make sure I get the $569 price. If the line is too long arriving 1 hour early then I'll drive over to Best Buy and ask them to call VZW to match it hopefully (hopefully they don't sell out in the hour between opening times). This really sucks. VZW opens at 9am and Best Buy at 10am. I just can't see many people paying a full price of $699 for this phone.
 
i agree with you benjiedude

thats why i will try get X at verizon since it 5 min away and i will get there early wait in the line......i talked to local verizon said i will call that day 15 min before opens so they will try hold one for me....

if failed and sold out then i will go to best buy to match VZW price since they wont accept early upgrade but they said i can get upgrade only if contract for a year but we dont know what is the price yet
