Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

It's not that they didn't have any. What pissed me off was they knew last week they weren't getting but 2 and continued to tell people they could pre-order and get one. To me they just mislead everyone. They did refund the gift card though. I went to the Verizon store next door and got the last one.

This seems kind of weird, we didn't know our final stock allocation until the 11th, and preorders stopped on the 10th. I think you can see through this thread that me and screenamesuck have been trying to dig through the system to find information on unit allocation and stock/price, and we were barely able to find out that monday.

So, I think the employees were misinformed.

Either way it sucks, I just don't think they tried to mislead everyone (they were just dumb...I don't know which is worse..)
 
Just picked up my X. BB couldn't have been better im the transaction. They embarass my local corp store. This is def. Above inkie, and with some customizing will look fantastic.

Did your lack of X's make for a crappy day for you? Any irate customers? If so, sorry to hear it. I know sales people always take the brunt of customer anger regardless of whether the problem is in your control. And you've been so helpful here, too.

I preordered my Droid X and i was number #9 ,.. My local store only got 6 !!! ...... When will I get my phone ?? 2morrow ? Saturday , Sunday ?
 
So I went to best buy today to get a zagg shield and they told me there was an installation fee to put it on is that true. I thought if I got it there it was put on for free.
 
I never found out where i was on the pre-order list but I was at my.BB at 9 am and got mine. My appt was for 9 but ther was anyone else in the store. Unfortunately they didn't have any accessories and the sales associate couldn't have caredless.

I made it to my local Verizon store and bought all sorts of accessories. They were happy to see me even if I didn't buy my Droid from them!
 
My BB experience was perfect...well for me at least... I know for a fact that 5 people were highly upset as they were on the bottom of the preorder list and they ended up not having enough to fill the orders.

Only trouble I had was with swapping the upgrade from my other line. Verizon's system was sooooo swamped with people getting the X that it was slow and took a few attempts to process it to change over. Otherwise Im happy to have my X in hand also my black tie warranty plan. Seeing as I dont remove my phone from my hands ofter I only have to worry about damaging it.

Also again a BIG BIG THANKS to all of the BB employees who gave up personal time to answer all questions and help out with what they could.

Nobody can answer this 100% because we don't know when the exact date is for the next shipment. Our NORMAL shipments run once a week and the day is different at every BB. For example mine is Thursday's, but phones can sometimes show up randomly via UPS and we have no idea they are coming. I suggest just contacting your local store and making sure they will call you when it comes in. Just sit back, relax and wait for it to show up.

Yes we charge in most cases. $7.99 for just the front. Its not an easy task for most people which is why we charge. If it was easy customers would do it themselves. Almost always when the customer tries to install they come back and complain about how it looks. Even though we don't have to exchange it we normally do and install it for them. I personally will not charge the customer if they are purchasing it along with a phone and they are nice. If the guy is a jerk or just comes in and buys just the shield and says here I need you to put this on, I charge him the $7.99. It takes a lot of time in some cases (easy on mostly flat phones) and can cause other customers to wait so might as well make a profit for it.
 
By the way guys, we received our shipment of accessories tonight AFTER we sold all our phones lol. It was just standard silicone/plastic cases like you normally see for the other droid phones. We got black, blue and red.

I use to have one of these and I highly suggest you create your own to give your phone that unique look. They do not leave any kind of sticky residue if you decide to take it off later on




 
No biggie. Verizon rep handled it on the phone and took 5 minutes. I think my wife was surprised that her phone died for a short while and had to explain what I did. Her first response was "you weren't one of those idiots who were in line this morning" and I told her no I preordered so I didn't have too maybe next time. ;)

All in all it was a good experience at BB. Mobile guys really knew a lot about Android. There was about 5 people while my phone was being activated that didnt preorder that decided to stop in to see if they had any.

That is normal, as our BEAST system we use doesn't let us do alternate upgrades. We can do it through another system but it's easier to do it through ours. The time it takes to do it through the other system is the same amount of time it takes to call customer service and switch the phones, well...unless you call after five o_O

So, it's pretty normal. It depends on how comfortable the employee is with the secondary system. When I first started working there, I did it all through our system, to speed things up and make sure I didn't mess anything up. Now I am more comfortable, and can finish both in about the same time. Really depends on the employee's level of comfort :)

Hey, when do you think that BestBuy is going to start selling these car docks for the Droid X?
Just curious, because I got my Droid X on Tuesday and they did not have them yet.

Quick question: At July 15th (Droid X launch day) I went into a Best buy store to see if I could buy a Droid X (Monmouth Jct., New Jersey) and a good BB Cellular guy told meh they only had enough for the people who preordered it but offered to put me in reserve waitlist. And so I took the offer and he said they would be recieveing the next shipment next week. It's been 7 days since he said that and still no phone call yet. I was wondering the date when Best Buy gets restocked? Especially here in New Jersey

I apologize for not reading through all 19 pages and am sorry if this has been asked in this thread already, but I have a military discounted account and heard a rumor that I would get 15% off of a phone just like I get a discount on my monthly bill, is this true and if it is can I also get this at a BestBuy instead of going into the VZW store? The local BestBuy has X's in stock while it is backordered forever in the VZW store.

this is not true. BB may have something special themselves, so i cant speak for them, but military discount does not come off the phone. only monthly access, data, and accessories.
since they are already discounting the phone 65% (minus any NE2 credit you may have) it doesnt make sense to offer the discount on equipment. verizon (and best buy) dont make money on devices, and such, they only offer discounts on the products and services they stand to profit from.
 
Dude, is it ME or are there not any decent speaker cradles for an Evo? Needless to say, there are and HAVE been a ton of speaker cradles since the iPhone was released. Any hope for us Evo owners? :confused:
