"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Anyone know the VZ 1800 complaint line? Maybe a few calls will get them to come clean.
.. The appearance of sham is worst than an actual sham.

(800) 922-0204 is just the customer service line. you can go to www.verizonwirelesssurvey.com and leave feedback there. I know store managers take the website seriously when complaints against specific stores are put through there. The customer service will most likely not even note the call.

First modern electric traffic light in salt lake in 1912 8 years later Guy in Detroit modified it making 4 way light.
Largest cement plant. .. a tree make of cement outside salt lake

Again, I think it's just a matter of perspective. To me, modern means 4-way 3-color traffic light, the kind we use today (modern). I don't consider a Ford Model-T a modern car.

I will not argue the cement plant clue because it makes sense either way (although more in favor of SLC I'd admit)

I'm just going with my gut and saying Detroit. I won't pretend to even guess at what the tweeter is actually thinking when he writes these clues.

I actually hope its in Detroit at least we have you guys there. Sorry for double posts not me. I get messages every time I post. One time.
Yeah. I just can't see them picking SLC over Detroit. Detroit is a much larger city and most of the clues point to it.

Alktrio: I think the earliest is like 11:15 or something, if I remember correctly.

AND the guy in Detroit made it 3 colors... So it depends on what you consider to be modern... 3 colors IS what we use today, not the 2 colors as in Utah.

Checking on the placement w/in 1-2 mi radius of a verizon store theory...seems to hold up... Maybe some triangulation is in order? Draw a circle around the stores in the main part of the city and see if they overlap somewhere "famous" or known in the town? Any thoughts?

Looks to be the case. If you do a maps search for the city, then for verizon it will get you within 2 miles of each of the claimed X's so far. Using that method, the closest "sponsored link" verizon store seems to be pretty close. I guess we'll see tomorrow if that works out to be true.

Here are my predictions where a few will be found, within a 2 mile radius from that address.

#7 Seattle-
1633 6th Ave
Seattle, WA 98101

#18 Minneapolis-
800 Nicollet Mall #10
Minneapolis, MN 55402

#17 Detroit-
300 Renaissance Center
Detroit, MI 48243

#6 Orlando-
3742 East Colonial Drive
Orlando, FL 32803

And seeing how I've never actually been to any of those cities, I could be waaayyy off too. Anybody in these areas have an idea of something well known around these locations?

Has it been confirmed?

If you read the last couple tweets...

"STATUS: We apologize for the confusion today. The cert is placed when the final clue (not GPS) is posted. Future updates will reflect this."

When they say "We apologize..." it means they are part of the promotion.

and...

"STATUS: Going off-line for about an hour. You can still expect our update regarding #21 before 6PM EDT."

When they say "our update..." that also means they are part of the promotion. Why would they be apologizing for something they aren't part of?

I hope this helps and clears things up...

Anyone know how close actual droidx was found to GPS coord. That were tweeted. In Chicago.

I think I saw it in the comments of the twitpic, but someone said the GPS was spot on, in the primate area.

@DroidLanding http://twitpic.com/24guro - it was in the primate house. the EXACT gps location was correct. my gf and i got free giftcards about 3 hours ago via Twitpic in reply to DroidLanding

I don't know why there is still any debate as to whether its in detroit or SLC. Its in Detroit! You all should really start following @droiddecoder.

I am following him/her/it. I'm just not fully convinced it is a vzw or sponsored account. Droidlanding isn't even following them. Not saying that's definitive, but I am skeptical.

No. There aren't any. Including you. I heard they cancelled the Houston, since they haven't given it a date. I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. If I were me though...I'd keep looking.;)

haha NOOO
where did u hear that? if so..that would be pretty sad =( maybe they couldnt think of anywhere good in houston. houstons like the worst tourist city ever.

New York GPS location in water a few hundred feet away from actual location. Boston GPS a few hundred feet away from actual droidx location. Decoder gave a location a few seconds after post. They are not giving us actual location. Must be adding or subtracting from actual numbers. Anyone see any patterns between posted GPS and actual GPS of droidx.

I couldn't say for sure, as I wasn't there, but the NYC one in Google Maps put it right at the end of the pier.
The Boston one put it right outside the Lobster place.
The Chicago one put it inside some unnamed building.
The SF one put it right in front of the theatre.

All of these seem to be exactly where they were found, give or take a couple meters. I'm not sure about the Philly one, I heard it was inside the building, which would make the GPS coordinates off as they were smack in the middle of the stairs leading to the building.

When I plugged the NY coords into Google Maps it put me right on the end of the pier, not in the water.

For me the Philly one pointed right in front of the building

Wow in NY it put me southeast doc in Boston it put me across the water to the newest. The chic. Today put me in the parking lot outside the zoo.

Are you punching them into Google Maps on your phone?

If I try the coord. on my droid, it gives me the nearest address, not the actual gps location. For the NYC one, it puts it in the water a little SE of the actual location, although the Boston one gave me the correct location. Chicago gave me the parking lot.
