micro USB charging cable?

Hi All.

Lifelong Treo user that has moved into the 21st century with HTC Hero. Why did I wait so long?! Quick question regarding recharging the Hero with micro USB: Can I purchase any micro USB cable or do I have to use HTC compatible? I've seen cables for $.99 on eBay but HTC or Sprint want $20! Thoughts?
