"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

my first initial thought with the clue a screen as big as the grand ole opry was the IMAX theater right across the streat in Opry Mills. I'm not sure if thats open to the public though with all the damage from the flooding

I went over to that area and the mall exit is closed due to construction. I am at the Stockyard restaurant and watching someone act suspicious with a yellow button up shirt that dropped off a box, then left and came back and is sort of behind me. I hope this is the place. :)

Looks like they're going with locally famous, as opposed to nationally or regionally known eateries. For Houston, all I can come up with is Pappa's BBQ, the Aquarium, and Niko Niko's. Pappa's is a chain, though, so I think we can rule that out. Niko Niko's has no place to hide and it's crazy busy at lunch (or all the time, really). Am I missing something?
I have been thinking about all of those specially niko niko's but also there's the verizon wireless theatre and all the universities. Also Rice village, museum district, parks, statues, all close to downtown.

ahh we might have to wait for the official "last clue" to zero in on a location. I wish they would just tweet a city and have several stages kinda like the amazing race. You know give clues to certain checkpoints, then once you reach the final checkpoint you are given the gps coordinates. That would have been awesome

I now know that you are a decent guy, but as you reply to users first with "LOL" shows great disrespect.

Are you being serious?
Since when was "LOL" a sign of great disrespect? First time I've heard that. To me it just says that I think it's funny... Nothing more, nothing less.
Sorry that you interpret it in that way.

Who is getting ready for the Dallas hunt?

I'm wondering where you will be starting from. If everybody starts at a different location, there will be a better chance one of us on the forum will get it. I'm stuck at work so I'll have to hunt vicariously through you guys :(

People kept holding out hope, i guess, like detroit and slc

Yeah, I hear ya...

Also, you didn't take offense to me putting "LOL" in my first response to you, did you? You realize that it means I'm laughing at the thought of people holding out hope and not at you, right?
Just want to make sure...

I just woke up and am getting a bowl of cereal, but I'm going to stage in the northern part of Dallas.

I've been looking at that too. Looking at the only patterns we have (1-3 miles from a vzw store and a locally known eatery or attraction), downtown is out. There isn't a vzw store anywhere near downtown, and I wouldn't think they would put it north, east, or south of downtown because there just don't seem to be anything that fits there. That leaves niko nikos or some other restaurant i haven't thought of. I'm not originally from Houston, though, so I'm at a disadvantage when it comes to brainstorming. Any other ideas?

Well going with the corporate store theory, there is one on northwest highway in preston village and one up by the galleria.

So for Dallas, #5, I'm guessing the south of nebraska was the region clue, state as big as the 4.3" screen was the state clue, and grassy knoll was the city clue.

Do you think any of those give an idea of WHERE in dallas it will be?

No, only that it is Dallas

I'm thinking it's either gonna be near Victory Park, or West End.

It's totally going to be at the Mansion. Ok, so not totally. just under halfway, actually. Maybe by the fair?

It seems they pick some kind of 'tourist' attraction/famous eatery. So maybe the mansion..

See, I thought it might be more downtown/historic district, but the last bunch have been WAY away from the downtown metro area (look at the Minneapolis one). That's why I'm staying away from the downtown Dallas area. If I'm wrong, then I'm wrong though.

But out of 9 given out so far, only 2 have been away from downtown or the main city, and those were in places that are VERY spread out. I wouldn't be too far from downtown Dallas, but that's just my theory.

That is funny and a nice try, I wold play along with you if I was going to get #7. I would have time to active & setup my droid X, then take a video of you looking for it. Could probably have it on Youtube before you saw me ;)

Haha.

Going with the prevailing themes so far, my guess is pike st marketplace! too bad im 4 hours away...... :(
