Which phone for my "tech illiterate" husband?

My husbands BB keeps giving him trouble and since I dumped my BB for my Dinc he sort of wants to Android too. When I say he is tech illiterate I really mean that, the simpler the better. Can you guys give me some good phone suggestions?
Here are the musts:
-simple to use (my Dinc confuses him)
-physical keyboard
-Verizon is our carrier

Just kiddin!! How bout just buying him the DInc then giving him a crash course on how to use it. It's really not that difficult to learn.
 
Honestly, I'd say get him an iPhone. It's a simple device, designed to be simple to use. Everything is just plug in and work.

Of course, Android can be just as simple to use, it just has the option for more technical use if you want to. I always promote improving your knowledge of technology, in this age it's only an advantage.
I'm British so I don't know what phones Verizon has, but there are good Android ones out there.
 
HA! That's perfect! I would teach him in a heartbeat, but has got to have a physical keyboard. Plus he gets all flustered with my phone, it just isn't a good fit for him....weirdo.
 
Pry: iPhone.....nonononono. I get the simplicity, but AT&T is absolutely not an option. Do.Not.Like.Them. I couldn't agree more about learning the technology, and believe me I have tried...but you can lead a horse to water....etc.

I would agree with him.. my wife is not a tech savvy but since she has the same phone i do, i always show her how to use menus and settings and all other stuff :)
 
What kind of phone are you looking for, performance wise? Does he need just something to take calls and text, or does he want to browse the internet and do other things that smartphones tend to do nowadays?

He listens to music, browses the internet, email, etc.

I think the Ally might be a good choice for him.
 
Droid 2 is coming out soon and is an option or the original Droid. All newer android phones are equally easy to use as they all use 2.1 or 2.2.

My wife is not tech savy and came from the BB which she really didn't bother to learn.

She's on a LG Evo and had no problems using it to it's fullest.

She was going to go to the Ally although after seeing my DInc she's leaning towards that.

I had a droid eris that i would not sugest for a non 'tech' person but two days ago I broke my eris and I absolutley needed a phone that day because of my work and all they had in stock at the local vz store was the motorola devour. Its a drop from my eris but its actually faster and simple. I dont care for moto blur so i just deleted all widgets and now its pretty much just simple plain old android. Its nothing like having htc sense and it has a smaller screen but I'm getting used to it. It has a physical keyboard and its fast and simple for an android smart phone.

from what i understand the droid 2 will not have a hardware keyboard, the orginal droid however may work for him.

If the Incredible confuses him, I wouldn't suggest stock Android. He's going to have to bite the bullet and deal with a learning curve regardless of whatever is selected. Granted, some curves are steeper than others but there's going to be a bit of change to deal with.

Personally, I find it's easiest to keep the non-tech-savvy better half on the same device. Makes training and support a lot simpler IMO.
 
Thanks you guys, I think he might go with the Ally. I made it pretty clear he just needs to get up to speed before our kids start making a fool of him and his fear of technology. Our 5 year old already navigates the computer better than he does...sigh.
