Fed Ex lost my HTC Incredible

Maybe the babysitter really didn't sign for it and the people who live there are just passing the blame off on her. Easy out for them and confuses everyone else.

Ever since the big controversy with the guy who jumped into a pool to save a drowning kid (with an Incredible in his pocket), ruined his phone, and posted a pay pal account for people to donate money (which they did), people have been very skeptical.
Hey, what ever happened to that? I kind of bailed once I saw bullshit. BTW, I believe the OP too, there is a rash of thefts going on when folks make mistakes like leaving stuff around. Moral fiber is out the ****ing window.

If nothing else, I am sure the Fed Ex driver remembers what the person who signed for it looks like. At least I hope he would!

The driver may have had to stop for the day. A lot of companies a very strict about overtime. He could easily be fired if he worked unauthorized OT or if he kept at it off the clock. The guy made an innocent mistake, and much to his credit he caught it. Sadly it was too late. The supervisor will have the authority to actually do stuff. Blame HIM for lack of progress, and of course the SOB who took your phone. And if nothing happens soon, get Fedex to realize that the quickest/cheapest way to make you go away is to get VZW to rush you a new phone that their insurance will pay for.

Hopefully, the babysitter and/or whoever realize they need to give the phone back.

EDIT: the driver made an innocent mistake. Whoever got your DrInc is committing a felony. Either way Fedex owns you an awesome phone NOW.

I admit the chances of anything going wrong are slim, but it's still not worth the risk.

My parents had guns in the home while we were kids. We learned about gun safety from a VERY early age. I'm a 27 year old female who lives in a pretty crime free area and I own 3 handguns (and several rifle's and shotguns). Plus I have a conceal carry permit. If you saw me on the street, you would never in a million years guess that I have a gun strapped to my pants :D

You just never know. And you really can't be too careful. People can be insane, especially if they feel threatened.

And beyond all of that, he has to live by these people. I wouldn't go around pissing off my neighbors (even if I do suspect they are theives) knowing that they are right around the corner. That's a good way to end up with smashed windows and slashed tires.

It's funny you posted this because all of those things ran through my mind. My initial instinct was to leave a note on their car saying GIVE ME BACK MY PHONE! or YOUR BABYSITTER IS GOING TO JAIL. I even thought about slashing their tires. BUT, then I would be opening myself up for legal issues and I am not willing to put myself in that position.

I think this situation is so stupid. It shouldn't have to be this way. The person that signed for the package and even those in the household should have quickly, if not immediately, realized that this packaged did NOT belong in that household and notified the company that the wrong package was delivered to them. If I was in this situation (received the wrong package) and it wasn't a big deal, I would have even gone as far as taking the package back to the person that it DID belong to.

It just goes to show what kind of irresponsible scum we live among.

Edit: 200th Post, yay me! :D

Might get you somewhere quicker...

I agree with you. But sadly, a lot of people suck :(

I have received packages from UPS and Fed Ex for my neighbors before. It happens. What I do is grab my cell phone and the package and walk over to the neighbors house. They answer and I explain what happened. Then I call the shipper and let them know what happened and ask the neighbor to get on the phone to confirm that yes, they have it. That way they can't come back and say they never got it (and therefore, trace it back to me and cause ME a bunch of problems).

But I am a decent person. Some people just are not. It's sad but it's a fact of life.

That's a good question.

I know he got at least $50 or more in donations - I think people finally gave up on it due to all of the ridicule (even by the Moderators) and it just fell to the bottom of the forum.

A couple questions to ask:

Was there really ever a babysitter?

Did anyone even sign it?

Have you pulled up the tracking number yet? Does it have a name or signature?

Or does it say "Left by garage" "Left at door" because they do that too in safe neighborhoods.

Sadly, this is the second package that's been stolen from me. The first was 7 years ago. My wife's cousin sent a wedding present to us via UPS and they said they left it on our doorstep. We never resolved that issue.

Yes, people do suck and I so want to do something to those people. Like I said before, I insisted that Fed Ex bring charges against the girl that signed for the package. I realize there probably isn't even a babysitter that exists. It was probably someone that lives there since there are always 4 cars parked there.

I need to focus all of this grief into my workout today. I let it bother me so much yesterday I lost focus and my form was bad in my exercises. This in turn caused some aches and pains in my back. Can't let that happen to me today.

I will call Fed Ex again after I leave work. I need to know how long I'll be without a phone.

These phones get shipped as signature required, so the odds that it was left on a doorstep are slim. When I called about my wifes Dinc, I was told that the driver isn't under any obligation to deliver to a neighbor if you are not home, but the neighbor can flag the driver down and offer to sign for it.

I thought it was a pretty odd policy.

Either way, good luck to the OP.

I doubt there really is a babysitter. There was a signature on the tracking site. Someone signed for it.

Just curious, but do you need to be at the gym in 26 minutes?

A lot of places do this and I have to say, I think it's nuts. I have seen everyone from mail delivery people to flower delivery people leave packages at a neighbors house.

How the hell do they know if I even know my neighbors? Or get along with them?

It just seems like a really stupid risk to take, on their part. If the package doesn't end up in my hands THEY are the ones responsible for it, not me and probably not the neighbor. You would think that they would realize this.

No, I do the Insanity Workout at home. Are you saying I should drive to the Fed EX location? I believe that I will do that. Thanks.

Yeah its always best to deal with this sort of stuff in person, so drive to the local fed-ex location that you've been talking to and demand to see a manager, and talk with him NICELY (you want him to do something for you) and see what he can sort out. :)

they left my first replacement with my drunkard neighbor. Didn't even leave me a notice. Took me FOUR days to track it down...neighbor pretended that he forgot. the box had clearly been opened and re-sealed with masking tape. WTF?

Anyway, the replacement was a POS. I was supposed to receive another today, but VZW can't produce a tracking number, and there is no phone or notice. Who knows whose house they left it at this time. FedEx sucks.

Did they type out the name too or is there just a signature?

It was typed out. I don't know the last name of the people that live there, so I don't know if it was one of them or if there really was a babysitter that signed for the package.

I've set up a password with Verizon, so no one can activate the phone anyway.

I feel your pain dude. I don't understand why delivery companies believe we still live in 1950s America where every neighbor knows each other and are best friends. I don't know any of my neighbors.

I would return to that neighbor and wait till someone answers that door. I will ask for my phone and tell them it is a felony that i plan to pursue to the fullest extent possible if they indeed have the phone are are not returning it. I would also let them know that they are effectively holding a blacklisted paperweight.

Truth. And I'm pretty sure it's direct signature, not indirect signature. Indirect signature means anyone at the address or a nearby address (at the driver's best judgment) can sign for it. Direct signature means the person on the box has to present ID and sign for it.

VZN should be shipping these direct signature, IMO. When mine came, they didn't leave it at the door nor did they leave it at the apartment office (like they usually do if I'm not home). They took it back to the FedEx station. My wife went to go get it, but she couldn't sign for it since my name is on the box.

my guess is the OP is not willing to get shot over a phone...my take is the family who signed for the phone will be ebaying it for meth money.

make sure verizon blocks the esn.....

its ridiculous that this is happening....just goes to show you what a shitshow this country is becoming.

fed-ex: I have a package for joe frog..are you him? will you sign for it.
neighbor: no sir i am not joe frog, this is 17 depot street...joe lives at 13 depot street...just over there in the white house.

how fuc'n hard is it for people to do the right thing????:mad::mad:
