"Missing Droid X Real-World Give-Away" Contest (1st Post:Updated)

Hey guys. I'm the lucky guy from Houston who found #10. Stumbled across this site last week after I decided to place a pre-order for my phone. Stumbled across this thread and didn't think much of it until today. My co-worker and I decided that we would "work remotely" at a coffee shop downtown (we live in NW Houston) until the hints started getting posted. We were at Catalina Coffee shop on Washington when the first hint dropped. We drove straight down to Minute Maid Park thinking that's the spot.
-snip-

Nice work dude! Good to see you help out your bud too. And you're dropping AT&T?! Man you are gonna be living the high life soon.

Yup. I'm on a secondary line so I don't get the NE2.

I'd head to Costco then...that's what we'll do with my wife's line...the phones are almost always cheaper or the same price as the discounts available with VW and/or come with free stuff and I like free sheeot.:D

Walmart also is usually cheaper than VW. But I usually end up buying with VW online, cause I'm a hermit and hate going shopping.

I still think Dick's and Red Mill are obvious choices, however what concerns me about these two "famous" eateries is that there are multiple locations of each now. The previous food joints, correct me if i'm wrong, only had one site in that city versus the 4 Dicks and 2 RM's in Seattle.

I also sure as hell hope they'd go no where near Pike's place for the original starbucks..that'd be a clusterfluck

It was kinda emasculating to learn that switching to a secondary line lost me my NE2 but we get a 20% discount on service with my wife's former employer...still. :)

They might actually put it at a I don't know..I've racked my brain enough..

We were at Catalina Coffee shop on Washington when the first hint dropped. We drove straight down to Minute Maid Park thinking that's the spot.

We did some laps, waited patiently and saw two other dudes walking around Minute Maid with phones in hand, doing the same thing we were, however they parked their car and were on foot. As soon as the coords were posted, we plugged them into our phones and were off. From Minute Maid we got to the park within 3 minutes. My friend dropped me at the park and I hopped out of the passenger seat and took off running.

I could see people running all over the park, but as soon as I hit the big green field, I just knew that it was going to be somewhere in that multi-colored art piece. I ran right up the first little cubby hole I spotted and saw the #10 flyer sitting right there.

So stoked that I snagged it, as I thought my odds were low that I'd actually be the first one. Anyhow, thanks to everyone there that congratulated me and rest assured that this phone is in the hands of a dedicated fan. I got an early activation form along with the phone and will be heading out after work to activate my contract and drop my ATT contract like a hot potato.

Thanks again to all that were there, I gave a nice shout-out to Androidforums.com in my interview video, so look for it soon on their Twitter account. Also looking forward to becoming more active on this site as I grow to love Android and this phone. Since I found the phone, I'll be keeping it (not ebaying it), but will be helping my friend that came with pay for half of his phone to make it fair. Time to call Verizon and cancel one of my pre-orders! Thanks again for the congrats guys and maybe we'll see you around Houston!

What's it like pitching for the Rays?

j/k ;)

Congrats, and thanks for sounding like a cool dude.

Ya, it really depends what theme they go with for Seattle...tourist attractions vs food..

Attractions your going to have the obvious.

1. Space Needle
2. Pioneer Square
3. Waterfall Park
4. Experience Music
5. Pikes

So you basically dealing with waterfront/downtown vs central by Queen Anne.. I'd like to think they wouldn't go with the Needle just for making it to obvious..but at this point..who the hell knows, if i had a few folks to help i'd camp one downtown at Pioneer within range of waterfall..one between the needle and EMP and one down by the ferries incase they decided to get squirrely. Downtown you can always catch the line if they decided to drop it at the Museum of Flight as well.

Did you see the latest DroidDecoder tweet?

Yeah they started the new format after everyone bitched about how the DC hunt went down. There were people on here complaining like crazy so now they arent taking any chances and are just releasing the clues and GPS at the same time. Every location has the exact same wording almost now.
