The Evo is sold out everywhere!!!!!

Sorry. I'm shooting for the 199.99 up front, with $25 off each of my next two Sprint bills, and a $25 rebate in the mail. If it weren't worth waiting for such a good offer I would be in my car and on my way:o

Edit: Though, considering the Sprint site hasn't put up and stock for days now, and the studentrate offer ends tomorrow, I may be SOL on that deal.

Hmm...well, if you don't have a permanent discount attached to your account now, I can give you at least 10% off every month for the life of your Sprint account. I dunno if the long term savings would be enough to sweeten the deal...?

Forgot about that part. The studentrate.com discount includes 23% on monthly recurring fees (not totally sure how that compares). Thanks though!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was talking about. I could match that discount, but that's about as far as I can go. Except waving the activation fee? Last ditch effort...

They do that too. Overall it's a deal that takes care of the $100 rebate hassle, and over a short time adds an additional %75 in discounts (plus free shipping and activation and whatnot). Though again, if there aren't any Evo's up for sale on the Sprint website by the end of the day tomorrow... then I might as well take you up on your offer. But that thing will likely be sold long before then. Thanks though!:)

I called up Sprint customer service and ordered one anyways. They said it would go on backorder so I said that's fine. This was yesterday (July 12th) Last night at 9PM or so I get an email from Sprint saying my order has shipped! The email even included the UPS tracking. So supposedly tomorrow I should have it!

Why they told me they were out then shipped one anyways I don't know but I am not complaining!
I guess I won't get too excited until tomorrow when it shows up.
I called Sprint and talked to the guy and asked to be put on the waiting list. He referred me to go into a Sprint store and get on their waiting list. I advised him that I didn't want to go in and wanted to get on the waiting list. Said he couldn't do it. Asked his supervisor and said she confirmed they can't do it. Called back and another lady confirmed this. So what gives? Who did you speak with? Help us out here.

Tell them you just want to order one and you know it will be put on backorder and that's okay. She was correct in saying there is no waiting list. That's why you need to actually order it.

I'm considering doing this or ordering it through Wirefly, since it would be a little cheaper. I'm not sure if you just got lucky or what but if this worked for me I'd go this route for sure. I'd just hate to order through Sprint and pay more and then receive 2-3 weeks later.

I want one so bad but I'm trying to remain patient and make the smart move. Has anyone else called Sprint up and got the phone right away like this?

Hey bhoth are you a new or existing customer? I wonder if that makes a difference.

Trust me, find a sprint store and see if they will take a 50 dollar deposit. Most people dont put down deposits so if they have 50 people on the list probably about 10 put down a deposit. So when you make the deposit they will make you #11. this is what I did and I got my evo quick.

I have hesitated to admit this, but I got my EVO about 3 weeks ago by walking into a Sprint store and asking if they had any in stock. They had 2, and one guy was already there getting one. They sold the second one to me even though they admitted to having 150 people on the waiting list. I would suggest visiting the store in person, often.

My sprint store did away with their waiting list a few weeks back, they said from now on, it first come first serve. :(

I've been shooting for a July build date (don't know why. I have no inside information. It doesn't mean build quality will be any different).

I'd like to order online but it's been unavailable for about a week. Since Houston has 4G (for the most part) I'm thinking that's why they sell out so quickly when someone does have them in town. I'll just have to hope I check Sprint.com when that window opens for availability (for whatever short time that might be).

So here's something interesting. I looked at Best Buy's website and the Black Evo says sold out while the White Evo is available. So I can add it to the Cart and select In Store Pickup(Shiiping is not available). I called the Best Buy near me that shows they have them In Stock and they said they actually don't have them In Stock.

Would there be any advantage in order it online through BB anyways vs ordering through Wirefly or elsewhere?

I saw several local Best Buys on the website that showed White Evos in stock, but instead of calling I went to one of the stores. The guy at the mobile desk said he didn't have any and the website was often "wrong". grrrrrrr

Luckily, I called around and did find a White EVO at a different store. They had 4 when I walked in. Two people behind me also got one. I am certain they were out by the end of the day.

Definitely waiting list or just luck of the draw - I walked into my local Sprint store to place myself on the waiting list and they responded with "You called in earlier, right? Actually we have one here that someone had on hold and they never picked up, you want it?" :)

Wow I feel lucky I did not have to go through all trouble of calling stores and getting on several waiting lists. I walked into Best Buy on the 19th and got put on their waiting list. They called me on the 21st and told me my phone was in stock. I stopped by and told them my upgrade was not until July 1st. They said no problem we will put a note on it and hold it for you. Went their during lunch on the 1st and got it activated no problems. I doubt most Best Buys would have saved the phone that long. I was wondering driving down there if it would still be there.

I will also mention both the day I went down there to have them hold it for me and the day I activated there were people that were trying to get an Evo. They were very unhappy there was not any in stock.

Something even more interesting.

After playing around for a bit I was able to get the Black Evo into my Bestbuy Online Shopping Cart even though it says Sold Out Online(PM me if you're interested how I did this)....I picked my Sprint Package and everything and am now at the Payment Process. I'm thinking about ordering it anyways and seeing what happens. :)

I got on just about every Radio Shack waiting list in a 25 mile radius of where I live. 1 week later I picked up my new HTC EVO. (which was today) :D
What hardware version? You may already know how to find it but just an FYI - Settings > About Phone > Hardware Information.

I called my sprint rep up and asked him to send me an EVO on Thursday afternoon 7-8-10. I got an email from him later that evening saying that the Evo was on back order. I read on here about the delays and what not so I figured maybe a week or so. Come Monday 7-12-10 about 10am UPS shows up to my office with my EVO.
If you are having issues getting one and are an existing customer, you may want to try this route. Never went to a Sprint store even though it is 2 blocks from my office.

No, you're thinking of iPhone 4.

Yep, iPhone 4 was recalled do to not holding the phone a specific way causing dropped calls and loss of both voice and data connection. Have not heard of an similiar sitatuion with EVO. So far EVO is the best phone I have ever owned and I have owned quite a few phones including iPhone :D

Well, after spending the last month agonizing over getting the EVO, the Droid X, or the AT&T Captivate I decided to get the EVO. Love the screen, love the rootability, and honestly, I like the form-factor better than the Droid X. My last Motorola sucked.

Anyways- so I calle their Customer Care line and went through the hoops. According to her, they will have phones in tomorrow and that my order will ship tomorrow.

I'M SO EXCITED! Sayonara iPhone 3G!

I did the same thing. 2 days later it was on my doorstep! The Sprint reps are doing a great job helping out existing business customers.
